Brief Title: TRANSGRESSIVE FICTION The Brief

Considerations

To promote and inform those of transgressive fiction by selecting transgressive literature which has been turned into famous films, such as American Physco, Fight Club.

Reflect on issues of transgressive fiction and refer to previous design context used for transgressive fiction or dystopian book covers, as well as the films that they have been made in to.

Produce a box set of a range of these books, push the literature forward, collectable item. Cover design as well as proof of being able to typeset novels.

Suit to the controversial nature of the books to engage with the viewer, but to still be acceptable.

Mandatory Requirements Concept/Proposition Books should work in unison as a box set but each individually representing the book itself. Design should mimic the problems within the fiction, looking at taboos.

Boxset, and book covers designed. Books are appropriate for boxset.

Deliverables Boxset design, book covers, body copy design, promotional material.

Target Audience People interested in Transgressive fiction and in the films which they might not have known was a book previously. Above the age of 18, male and female.

Background “Transgressive fiction is a genre of literature that focuses on characters who feel confined by the norms and expectations of society and who break free of those confines in unusual and/or illicit ways. The genre deals extensively with taboo subject matters such as drugs, sex, violence, incest, paedophilia, and crime� The genre has been the subject of controversy, and many forerunners of transgressional fiction, including William S. Burroughs and Hubert Selby Jr., have been the subjects of obscenity trials.

Brief Title: GRAFIK GROTESKS The Brief

Considerations

Research and document the grotesks, including the transformation of the typefaces from the very beginning until present. From Founders grotesk to Akzidenz, to Helvetica.

Research in order to design the right typeface, display / titling font. Suited to individual design of the magazines. If it changes from different weights etc for each issue, what else changes, colour? Layout?

Design a series of front covers of Grafik, for the one issue have a collectable five different cover designs. Each of the five will be different to the typeface I have designed from a family. Mandatory Requirements Concept/Proposition

Series of typefaces in the family, making a new grotesk.

To show how important any stages in type design might be, leading to one of the worlds most famous and most used typefaces.

Each typeface will hold spotlight on a cover of the same issue.

Collectable issue, pick your favourite typeface or collect them all. Deliverables 5 collectable cover designs for grafik for the same issue. Target Audience Grafik readers Type lovers Designers and Students of Graphic design.

Background Type design, from the 1800’s evolving over the years, from various sans serif designs. Why this evolution and classification of typefaces were so important. Grafik magazine, design context and the concept of the magazine.

Brief Title: THE LINO COMPANY The Brief

Considerations

To design and brand new business, The Lino Create a solid brand that people trust that can communicate Company. Company which creates prints, specifically easily what the compnay is, and what type of company they linocut, from the images the client wants. Brand are. stationery, which will include the whole range including business cards, letterheads, compliment slips etc. Promotional material required after too let people know about the company, done digitallly or printed. Posters, mail out.

Company wants to make linocutting a fashion, images Stationery, promotional material, possible extras include for anyone turned into a nice linocut print. Company website, motion graphics needs to be fresh and exciting. Boards to present.

Target Audience Males and Females interested in good quality, hand made prints, ideal for gifts, aged late teens to those in their thirties.

Background Company, exactly what they do and why they are doing it. Are there any other companies organisations like this, look at design context.
