gara-on-the-Lake Against the backdrop of a historical town with an over 200 year-old heritage, Niagara-on-the-Lake is an intimate gem of a destination. Designated as a national historic site of Canada in 2003, the majority of its buildings are constructed in the British Classical tradition and speak to the conservation movement in Canada, highlighting the restoration and renovation of their heritage character. Today, tourism plays a major role in its economy in part due to the works presented at the Shaw Festival’s three theatres (The Festival, Royal George and Court House) considered one of the best in the English-speaking world. Also known as the ‘Culinary Capital of Canada’, its many restaurants, mild climate and rich soil, (which is excellent for fruit production) makes it a major viticultural region. Adding to this are dozens of nearby wineries showcasing their finest wine, including those that make the largest volumes of internationally-showcased icewine.

And with that in mind, 15 of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s dining establishments have joined together to create Signature Kitchens, a culinary group celebrating the joys of local, seasonal and artisanal cuisine. Each group member has demonstrated a commitment to excellence through the use of high-quality local ingredients, a focus on outstanding VQA wines, and the delivery of professional service.
