Key Points to Note:
Policy and procedure recently updated in Calderdale and submitted for approval following consultation in Kirklees. A number of minor changes made including: Paragraph 3 of the policy – an extra sentence included to say: It is not uncommon for organisational change to be triggered by external changes across the NHS; national/regional processes, such as clearing houses, often support these. In such circumstances it will be agreed locally exactly how the processes will operate within the national/regional framework. Paragraph 2 of the procedure minor amendment to say “Line Manager” and not manager. Paragraph 6.3 a final sentence is added to say: The right is reserved to advise employees and representatives wherever voluntary severance will not be considered in any issue or organisational change and subsequently financial information will not be provided.
High levels of compensation may be awarded to employees at an Employment Tribunal in the event that the organisation does not follow agreed procedures during organisational changes for example unfair selection for redundancy.
