Green Issues – Recycling Since the SHA meeting Helena has met with Phil Webber head of enviornmental services at KMC to discuss recycling and other green/environmental issues. There is particular value in working with KMC regarding the new PCT HQ. A meeting has been arranged for an initial discussion on environmental issues and sharing information across the Calderdale and Kirklees health and social care economy on 26th June. In respect of recycling paper waste within the PCT this is likely to incur costs and a business case will need to be put to the Finance and Performance Committee in the first instance. Human Resources are supporting this work by exploring a national green travel policy in relation to lease cars and travel expenses.
Specialist Commissioning – Authorised PCT Representation At their 29th November 2006 meeting, the Board received and supported the establishment of Specialist Commissioning arrangements across Yorkshire and the Humber. As part of that approval the Board was asked to authorise officers to take decisions on behalf of the PCT in relation to specialist commissioning as members of the Yorkshire and Humber Specialist Commissioning Group (SCG). Mike Potts Chief Executive was nominated as the PCTs representative on the SCG and Carol McKenna Executive Director of Commissioning and Strategic Development as substitute. In order to provide greater flexibility in attendance at the SCG the Board is also asked to authorise Bryan Machin Executive Director of Finance as a second substitute. South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust (SWMHT) Application for Foundation Trust Status At the last meeting the Board received a presentation from Steven Michael Chief Executive of SWMHT regarding their application for Foundation Trust status. The Board approved the application in principle but asked that any further comments be relayed to my office. I have received no further comments on the proposed application and would now ask the Board if they would wish me to confirm their support for the application. Mike Potts Chief Executive
