Qantas announces improvements to international services Qantas today announced a series of improvements to its international network that will deliver new options and more choice for customers travelling to Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Auckland and Christchurch. •

Starting a new route, Perth-Auckland*, to be offered on a seasonal basis between early December and the end of January, operated by a Qantas A330 aircraft twice a week. Upgrading one return Sydney-Hong Kong service to an Airbus A380 aircraft, increasing the number of A380 return services on this route from four to five per week. Increasing frequency to daily on Brisbane-Los Angeles* with a new Monday service using the aircraft made available by the A380 upgrade on the Hong Kong route. Retiming Qantas' existing Christchurch-Sydney* service to a morning departure so that it connects with more international services from Sydney and complements the existing Emirates afternoon service on this route.

*Subject to regulatory approval These network changes have been made possible through schedule optimisation and ongoing transformation efforts within Qantas International. At the core of this strategy is our commitment to making Qantas the best airline for our global travellers and delivering a truly premium airline experience. Today also marks the first day of the Qantas and Emirates partnership on the trans-Tasman, with aligned fares and codeshare services available for sale on around 130 flights per week between Australia and New Zealand. As part of the network changes, Qantas has amended the flight numbers on its trans-Tasman schedule to simplify bookings, and retimed flights between Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Australia to increase the number of onward connections to the Australian domestic network, Asia, the US and UK and Europe. 15th August 2013
