2009 Entering the Division II College World Series as the No. 1 team in the country, the 2009 North Georgia softball team used late comebacks and big innings to continue one of the most impressive runs in the nation. Heading to Salem, Virginia, with a 48-3 record, the Saints opened the week with one of the most exciting wins in school history against Dixie State, using a game-tying three-run homer with two outs in the seventh to force extra-innings, before a walk-off home run in the 10th sealed the victory. An equally epic matchup with Angelo State followed as an 11-inning dual ended with a walk-off single by North Georgia to send the Saints to the semifinals of the World Series. Lock Haven awaited in the semifinals with a birth in the National Title game on the line, but back-to-back wins by the Lady Eagles propelled LHU to a World Series Championship.
