Senior Wills Class of 2013
Missouri Valley, I wish I could go through and name names. I wish I could describe the impact that you have had on my life. I wish I could show everyone how much they mean to me. But I sadly cannot. I cannot ever say goodbye to Missouri Valley because as much as I would like to move on to bigger and better things in life, I cannot. This is the biggest and best thing I have done in my life without a single doubt in my mind. I could get all philosophical and sappy on you about how much NFTY has impacted my life. But at this point that would be meaningless. The impact is all around me. My life has never been more changed by anything. EVER. I used to take it for granted. My NFTY friends and I would only talk occasionally; I would just go to the events to be there and to just hang out. I wish I could tell you when this all changed, but it did at some point. It became about more than the people. It became about more than just being together. It became ingrained into my soul. The NFTY “DNA” as I will call it for the first time (because this is the first time I have been able to describe it in words) changes you. It really does. As a jew, as a friend, as a simple human being. It changes you. Now, I know I said that I would not go through people and name out individuals for the fear of missing people, but I will try my very very best to do so… Emily A- make sure you keep UH intact! I cannot even describe to you the impact you have had on my life. It has been changed because of you. Not just because you are a great president, or even a great person, but because you have that effect on people. Rebecca S- hey, I never really met you, and this is crazy, but I am going to, really miss you. Sam S- always rolling with the punches. NFTY board of the future right here! I would like to give a shout-out to the wonderful advisors that have always been there for me and made it such a special experience. Especially Lee- quack on, quack on. And Beth- you are the best at what you do. Without a doubt. I am so lucky to have worked with you and you have impacted my life in ways you will never know. Also, a shout-out to my home congregation and youth group, UHTYG is necessary. Keep breaking attendance records (we need those GA seats!) and keep on quackin’ on. So this is the part where I do my final thank you’s and wish everyone the best and apologize if I forgot an yone, but I really want to reiterate what I said earlier in that NFTY changes you. It alters your thinking. Your mindset about life. It i s more than the people that change you. It is more than the things that it stands for. It truly is the lifestyle. When I was going through my facebook contacts to write notes about people, the easiest way to find people from NFTY MV was to look at the pictures on the left side and see which ones had an “equality for gay marriage” picture. This little detail showed me the true character of NFTY MV and how it truly does great things and molds great people. So, this is not a goodbye, but a “til-next-time” because it sure is hard to stay away from Missouri Valley.
With Much Love,
Justin Baris MV Regional Songleader, 5772-5773
The Final NFTY-MV Will and Testament of Justin Bohm Well, this is it. I’m actually writing this. My senior will. Needless to say I’ve been putting writing this off for a while now. There are just so many things I’d like to say, but I’d like to start with some song lyrics: “I was here. I lived, I loved. I was here. I did, I’ve done everything that I wanted and it was more than I thought it would be. I will live my life so everyone will know I was here.” – I Was Here, Beyoncé. “Long Live the walls that crashed through, all the kingdom lights shine just for me and you. And I was screamin’ long live, all the magic we made, and bring on all the pretenders one day. We will be remembered.” – Long Live, Taylor Swift. These songs, especially the parts listed above, remind me of the magical and beautiful memories I’ve made in NFTY. I Was Here basically quotes me when I comes to my experiences, and Long Live is about remembering the memories you shared with your friends (well, Taylor originally wrote it about a boy, but who cares she’s weird.) When I first started NFTY and saw the older kids bawling their eyes out, I never thought I’d get that emotional. Boy was I dead wrong. If I could do it all over again: all of the Chavurahs, LTI’s, JYG’s and Conventions, I would in less than a heartbeat. Leah E.B.: You have always been such a great friend and the memories I have being wacky with you will last forever. Bari W.: It was great meeting you at winter, and I’m glad I met you! Too bad it was such a short time! Have fun in NFTY and at Marquette. Devin F.: you are such an energetic friend! Keep being the same girl I met at LTI. Jack G.: you are so awesome! Those Facebook conversations were so unexpected and such a nice gesture. You will go far in NFTY. Jacob E.D.: I’m glad I met you!!! You are so remarkable, and in the short time I’ve known you, I enjoyed seeing your posts and involvement in NFTY. Sarah R.: I knew you for a short time, but it sure was fun seeing you at NFTY events! Ben C.: you are such a cool dude! I’m glad we got to bond during convention! Emily K.: you are such an exceptional character in NFTY, and I’m glad we could share some time together! Emma C.: GURRRLL!!! You are insane and I love you. Please stay the amazing girl I adore! Ethan S.: OMFSM. I can’t describe how much I love you. Sharing a bed at LTI, being insane, and, well, everything else! You are incredible. Stay awesome, kay? Hannah B.: BABE! What an amazing network partner. I’m glad we had this year to bond and become best friends!!! Ian R.: Oh boy. Where do I start with you? You are just unbelievable. You are compassionate, thoughtful, and downright adorable. I’m really glad I had the privilege to meet you in NFTY. Jaime G.: you are a crazy girl! You’re so thoughtful and you shine when it comes to friendship! Jen G.: Wow, so many things to say. Working together at Camp Emeth made us so close, and being in NFTY with you just made it so much better! It’s going to be different without you! Jeremy L.: JERM! It was fun spending time with you in NFTY! Keep workin’ out at the J, maybe you’ll see me again! Kelsey C.: you are such a unselfish and kind person. You’ll go far in NFTY! Maddie J.: you are a crazy girl and I love you! Stay classy and sassy! Margo H.: LARGE MARGE. My goodness you are crazy. Keep it up girl! Mia F.: you are a brilliant girl! You are just a caring individual who is a great friend. Michelle S.: you are so funny girl! Your personality makes everyone happy, no matter what the occasion. Rebecca B.: Snazzy! I’m so glad I got to meet you, and I’m glad you are such an awesome human being! Alex J.: Wild. Just a wild dude. That’s all I can say to describe you. Stay that way! Ali O.: oh my goodness child. You are such a great entity in any room! You make me smile. Keep it up. Alissa R.: OOOOH CHILD. You are so much fun! Convention with you was great! Genie M.: we only had a short amount of time together, but it was a fun time! I can’t wait to see what you’ll do next! Hannah W.: you are an amazing girl! Keep up the good work in NFTY! Hayley W.: you are a cool cat! Keep being amazing! Jacob M.: you are such a boundless and unlimited spirit. You are so great at being a friend. Keep being Jacob. Lily K.: or is it Hannah? I can’t remember. Oh well. This girl is pretty breathtaking. She needs to keep it up! Maya M.: you rock! So many things make you such a strong person. Noa S.: CATS CATS CATS. You are such a funny feline freak! I love you babe. Scott A.: PROSE! You are so talented and so nice! I’m glad we’ve met. Shelby G.: you are so amusing! I’m glad I met you at JYG last year! Tyler A.: TY TY! You really are a remarkable individual. You are so nice and loving, and you don’t even have to try. You are beyond amazing. Zach H.: Amazing! You shine in so many ways, it’s crazy. So glad to have met you. Mackenzie H.: wow, I’m so happy I met you! spending convention with you was without a doubt exhilarating. You light up NFTY. SENIORS!!!! Wow I can’t believe we all made it this far! It was so much fun having all of you with me in NFTY. I’m not even sure I’d have enough room to thank all of you personally; It would be at least 3 pages worth!!! I’m just glad I got to spend time with you guys. The people I’ve housed with, the people I’ve stayed up on Skype with, and the people I just sat around and goofed off with will forever be in my heart. It’s going to be a different experience for us all this coming year in college or wherever you are going in life, and I’m sure some of us will miss NFTY. I know I will. Just remember that we were here, we lived, we loved, we conquered, and we made the world, and each of us, just a little bit better. Every single one of us. P.S.: We DEFINITELY need to organize a class of 2013 reunion sometime!
Here comes the Big Kahuna of senior willitude: My youth group, SETYG. WHERE DO I START WITH YOU GUYS!!! Oh my goodness I have never met a better collection of compassionate and considerate young adults in my lifetime. You guys have impacted me SO much. i’m not sure I’d ever be where I am today without you! My seniors, Emily, Jackie, Miranda, Nicolette, Rachel, and the Samanthas, you are my girls!!! I love every one of you so much, and it was such a magical experience to spend all of NFTY with you all. The lonely juniors, Ellie and Shira, although there were only two of you, I’m SO thankful to have you guys with me in my last 3 years of NFTY. All of the sophomores, Alyson, Ben, BenJAMIN, David, Elana, Jacob, Jordyn, Michelle, Molly, Little Miranda, Sammy, Sterling and Noah (yes, you are still an SETYGer to me!) you guys were SUCH amazing individuals, and you definitely left an impact on me throughout the years. And last but not least, THE FRESHMEN! Avi, Elyssa, Evan, Raven, and Sarah, you guys were such great pals this past year. You are all the future of SETYG and NFTY-MV, so please, stick with it, and I hope it affects you as much as it did me! Alright, that’s it!.... oh… oh wait HOW COULD I FORGET MY BOARD?!?!?!?! Gavel order, go! Molly, Michelle, Alyson, Ellie, Jordyn, Sammy, Benjamin, David, Rachel, Miranda and Sterling! You guys were UNBELIEVABLE this year. I’m so glad you were on board with me this year, and no amount of words can put how I feel about you guys. You are all bright and shining individuals, and there’s no doubt you will all go far in life. Stay magical, guys, and hang loose. Jodi and Becky! I couldn’t ask for a better pair of wondrous advisors! You were such great helpers this year, and SETYG would be ripping at the seams if we didn’t have your advisory glue to hold it together! Jodi, you have been a wonderful, Advisor, Co-worker, Boss, and friend, and I couldn’t ask for anything more from you. Becky, while we sometimes clash with each other, we both know that we have our best interests at heart, and nobody could do your job better than you. Beth, how could I ever thank you? you were a truly amazing Regional Advisor, and the compassion you have sown to me and that I’ve seen you show to others is truly astounding. You keep up the good work! And now, I will delegate the most sacred heirlooms of all of Equestria: The Elements of Harmony!! (Pause for dramatic effect.) The Elements of Harmony are six supernatural artifacts which are arguably the most powerful force in Equestria. There are six of these mystic articles, each an element of friendship: Generosity, Laughter, Loyalty, Honesty, Kindness and Magic. Generosity is an element often left out of friendship. Bigheartedness is something NFTY, however, is full of. All NFTYites are able to show generosity, whether it is through social action, Tzedakah, or just being a friend. The person who possesses this element is Jordyn Miller. She has shown compassion to everyone, even people that aren’t usually treated well. Laughter should be shared all throughout friendship, especially NFTY. The one who possesses the element of laughter is a person that is able to make people smile, regardless of the situation. The person I believe to have this element is Emma Costain. She is always able to laugh at the small things in life, and she is able to make people giggle. Loyalty is an element that should be used in friendship often. In NFTY, loyalty is being able to count on your friends to come to events with you, help you with programming, and being there for you when you need them. The person that possesses this element is Sammy Shabsin. He has been a helpful friend, and despite my crazy antics, has stayed my friend since the beginning. Honesty is an element commonly overlooked in society. Gossip and hearsay is common in today’s relationships, and NFTY is not lacking of this. However, one person has been able to keep honesty close, and keep things genuine. This person is Sterling Waldman. Ze has been honest with me in everything ze does, and has let me know if ze needs help, instead of being untruthful. Kindness is a no brainer element. It is a vital part of friendship, and without it, NFTY would not be the same. The person who possesses this element is Ethan Stone. He has always been sympathetic and has always done what is right for others, no matter what the circumstance. The last element is Magic. This element is a more peripheral element, however it is the most important and powerful, especially in NFTY-MV. The one who possesses this spark of magic is Ian Roozrokh. He is always full of energy that makes everybody feel welcome at NFTY. The sovereign of the elements is David Thal. He is in charge of making sure the elements stay in the hearts of all NFTYites, and that the elements get passed down to younger generations throughout the years. Welp, I’m done… I think. Just remember that I WILL RETERN ONE DAY!!! Justin, out.
Madeline Rose Cohen: I literally don’t know where to begin. There are no words to describe how much you mean to me and what you’ve done for my life cause without you in it, I would not be who I am today. You’re like actually a part of what has made me me. It’s like that song from wicked. It describes us. I physically cannot imagine my life without you no matter how hard I try and I think you’re the only person who that holds true for. We’ve been through everything together. At least I think 2nd grade to now covers everything. You’re literally the solid rock in my life that keeps me sane and rational and you don’t know what that actually takes. You’re the only friend in my life who supports whatever I do and wherever I go with no judgment and that means the entire world to me. It’s the little things like that that make me so sure we’ll be friends forever and that you will be one person who I actually want to skype with next year. I’m so incredibly proud and honored to call you my best friend. I’m the only one who gets to point to the center of every friendship circle and say “That’s my best friend.” I don’t know what I’m going to do without you next year so you better plan a lot of time to visit and have me visit. I love you and our friendship more than life itself and even though you’ll still be 4 hours away next year instead of 2 minutes, there will be no difference. Jackie Heymann: Wow. From our very first event, we’ve been in nfty together. You were my first out of state best friend and I remember thinking how lucky I was that I got to stay with such a nice and cool girl. You’ve been my friend for all of NFTY and I can’t tell you how much that means to me. You’re so optimistic all the time and I’m really lucky to be able to call you my friend and my first nfty friend at that. I hope we stay in touch :) Hannah Perry: we’ve been described as inseparable at nfty events and I can’t think of a better person who I’d rather be inseparable with. I know we don’t keep in constant contact which is what makes being inseparable when we’re together so unique because it solidifies our friendship across the distance that separates us and I think that is such a special thing and I know it will never disappear. Through Shwayder and nfty, thanks for always being there for me and for being the bestest wifey I could ever ask for. You get me and I get you and that makes me know we’ll stay friends through thick and thin forever. Austin Dubinsky: I’m glad we made it to senior year and finally became friends. You’re a great guy and i’m super looking forward to going to college with you next year and becoming even better friends. Caleb Schroder: to me, you represent what a genuinely good guy should be. You care about all your friends and you have such a level of respect for them and people in general. Your values and cares in life are just so spot on. Please know that it means so much to me and that it is honestly an honor to be considered a good friend of yours. Sara Lynn Levy: I am still trying to understand why it took us so long to become friends. Whatever the reason, I’m very glad we’re friends now and it’s nice to have a friend that just gets me and my life. We’ll have to keep in touch next year and help each other out with our lives and im sure I’ll see you when you come visit mizzou. Thanks for being in my life this year. Ethan Lang: it’s been so great knowing you all throughout nfty from our first 7 th grade JYG when Jackie introduced us. You’ve always been one of those people that has come back for every chavurah and thus helped make nfty for me. Thank you for that and I hope you have an amazing time at college. Ian Staples: you too have always been a huge part of my jewish life between Shwayder, nfty, and Israel and I can’t thank you enough for helping make all three of those experiences great. Morissa Miller: oh god girl, where do I begin? We’ve had such a crazy year this year going from barely acquaintances at fall to being roommates by spring and I can’t think of anyone better to have done that with. I think we’ll b e so great together next year as we wreck havoc at mizzou and even though we were never good friends in nfty, I think that’ll make next year so much better. I literally cannot wait and I’m so glad to have you as my roommate. Ariel Kohll: I can’t even remember when we became friends, but I do remember you staying at my house freshman year for spring with Hannah perry and I remember being so excited for the greatest house ever. You’re such an inspiration to all those around you and I know we’ll meet again and I can’t thank you enough for being in my life because you are such an amazing person. Justin Bohm: You’ve truly shown me what it’s like to go through life not caring about what other people think and i admire that. Don’t let anyone ever get you down or tell you to not be your crazy self. Alyssa Guller: Although, we’ve never really been close, I think you’re so funny and nice and such an amazing person in general and I’m really glad we’re friends. Have an amazing time at college next year. Jamie Nachman: I’m so happy to graduate from nfty with you. You care so much about the people you love and I admire that so much. You’ll have to come visit me at mizzou next year when you’re in town. Jonathan Fry: thank you for always being there to brighten up anyone’s day and to be that big teddy bear. I’m so glad I met you in JYG and I can’t wait to stay in touch and have those late night skype sessions. You’ll do wonderful things in college and don’t let anyone or anything get you down. Becca Cohen: you truly embody what friendship means to me in that you’re always there for a vent session or a life update no matter what time of the day it is. You’re such a great listener and I can’t wait f or next year when we will constantly have so much to update each other on regarding our lives. Thanks for making nfty what it is and for always opening your house to be and for just being a fantastic friend in general. I love you so much! Ellie Morosokh: Girl, I miss you so much. I can’t even thank you enough for being such a good friend to me…even in preschool. And for welcoming me into your home, you’re the greatest. I don’t know what I would’ve done without you that summer. And even through that, we had the best of times together and you made that summer so amazing for me. Thank you for that and I can’t wait to do it again. Miranda Siler: What an amazing RCVP you’ve been this year. You’ve shown such a fantastic passion for what you do and I admire that. I know you will do great things. Ruthie Gertz: From preschool to now, I’m so glad you joined TSYG and were able to find a place in nfty. You’re such a great girl and it’s nice to have you back in my life. Justin Baris: We’ve had a pretty solid 5 years, but you’re also one of the few people that has made nfty what it is for me today. You’ve gone to every chavurah with me and have helped embody what nfty is and that long distance friendship that makes me excited about nfty. Thank you for that and for everything else and for being a great friend. I’m really happy I met you and that we’ve stayed friend for the past (I can’t believe it) 5 years. I’ll miss you next year and you’ll have to visit please. Healy Slakman: wow. What a crazy road our friendship has been. I can’t even remember when we became friends but thank you so much for always being there for me and a fantastic friend to talk to. I love hearing all about your life and updating you on mine and that needs to continue next year. Much love. I’ll be seeing you in st. louis a lot. Becca
Schwartzberg: from preschool to today, I’m so glad we’re friends. You’ve been such a huge part of TSYG and of my jewish life in general. Th e majority of my fantastic memories in TSYG include you and I can’t thank you enough for helping me create those. Sam Rheins: I’m so happy we finally were able to become friends come freshman year. You’re a great kid and I know you’ll do fantastic at CU. Have such an amazing time and I can’t wait to come up and visit you. Rae Pfau: I’m so happy we were able to room together at fall cause you are one of the coolest people in our grade. You’re so chill with life and you’re a generally fun person to be around. I wish we were closer and I hope that despite nfty being over in this sense for us, that we can keep in touch. Much love.
TSYG: All of you are such amazing people and together, we’ve continued on with such a fantastic youth group. My jewish life would have been nonexistent with this youth group, and I had so many friends that were so jealous of the crazy social life I had because of youth group. My bestest friends have come out of this youth group and that needs to continue. All of you who hold the future of TSYG in your hands, I know you’ll do great things with it and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for my sister and the whole youth group. Carly Coons, you’ve been the best youth group director I’ve worked with. You get us so well and I truly think that’s such a hard thing to do. Keep up with the amazing work. I love you and you made my senior year fantastic.
Shelby Ginsburg: First of all, I want to thank you for helping me make it through my senior year and definitely not only being a part of, but creating my whole year. You’ve been through every up and down of this year with me and we’ve toughed them all out together. I can’t ever express to you how much that means to you. As much as I love your cats, I do truly come over to your house to see you. You get me and I get you and that has helped make this year so great. Without you, there would have been a lot of stuff that would’ve turned out differently. You were that friend that I desperately needed at the beginning of the year and I’m really happy that we got close so fast. I don’t know what I would’ve done without you. I’m so incredibly proud of you for all the hard work you’ve put into running for regional board because it definitely showed. You care so much about tsyg and nfty and that is so obvious. You’re gonna have such an amazing time in Israel this su mmer and I’m going to miss you so much next year. I’ll be counting down the days until you visit. Thanks for totally changing my senior year into an amazing year and honestly helping to change me as a person. You’re the best friend I could ever ask for and our sudden close friendsh ip means so much to me. I love you soooooooooo much. We’ll skype all the time next year. Hannah Wolf: From the time we bonded at Shwayder and took the 2 hour long shower to get the paint out of your hair to all the chavurahs in nfty, you’ve been such a huge part of my jewish life and I know you’ll do great things next year. Ali Oksner: I’m so happy we got to stay together at fall chavurah. You’re such a cool girl and I love being around you. You have a bubbly happy optimistic energy that is so contagious. Don’t let anything get you down ever. Anne Friednash: You have such a free spirit attitude and I admire that so much. I’m so glad we’re friends and all the fun we have when we hangout . Don’t let anyone’s judgements get to you and keep dreaming. You’re an amazing person who has so much to offer this world and don’t let anyone tell you differently. Hannah Budwig: You’re such a unique person and at every chavurah, it always re comes to me as a little shock how cool you are and what an awesome person you are to be around. Even though for the longest time I thought you were a senior with all of us, I’m glad you’re able to stay in nfty for another year and spread your happy energy around. I can’t wait to see a lot of you next year in my dorm. (: I love you and can’t wait to become better friends with you. Sarah Keller: You’re such an amazing person and I’m so glad you were part of tsyg and helped make that experience so great for me. Senior Will of Austin Dubinsky When I thought of all the people to mention in my senior will, I didn’t know where to start. Should I start with my wonderful youth advisor H. Lee Rosenberg? Or maybe I should thank our always-amazing regional adviser Beth Lipschutz? I could always go with my wonderful Regional Board with Caleb, Ethan, Miranda, Jackie, Jon, Sara Lynn, and Hannah or the Cabinet, Justin, Maddie, Ian, Alyssa, and Becca. Ok, so I already started thanking people. Throughout my 3 years in NFTY, I have encountered so many wonderful people. My youth group, UHTYG, you guys are awesome. I wish I could name you all. To Shelby Ginsburg and Anne Friednash, thank you for saving my sanity after that awful program at Spring Chavurah my sophomore year. Truly an example of why validating helps out in the end. I want to thank Simi Adler for getting me to shave my head in front of a group of people. It got me to sacrifice my looks for a better cause, something I know most people wouldn’t do. Emily Kohn, you are one crazy girl, but a pretty awesome crazy girl. I’m glad I got to know you. To my Mizzou girls, Morissa Miller and Zoe Bonilla, I cannot wait to party with you down in Columbia, Missouri. We will make that town a lot more exciting than it already is. UHTYG Sophomores, I can’t say enough about you guys. Girls, you may get nosey at times, but you are fun…most of the time. Guys, I can’t wait to see how you deal with the girls. I wouldn’t go anywhere without thanking my Special Project Coordinators, though. The work you all have done at your events and fundraisers is inspiring and shows what really can be done for such an amazing cause. I want to thank Rae Pfau for not giving too much grief for forgetting her until I met her for the third time. I don’t think I could go without giving major credit to Ariel Kohll and Hannah Radler. You had the guts to shave your gorgeous locks of long hair for a greater cause and you are pretty cool too. To my three favorite TIFTY bros, Tyler Andreasson, Alex Jacks, and Andy Cohen. You guys are awesome and Andy, thanks for the pizza during GA, clutch time for it. I love the Omaha kids for hosting me while I was at your wonderful fundraiser, even if I had to wear that awful tuxedo t-shirt. Abby Hack, you are one insane and hilarious freshman. Zane Fletcher, couldn’t have asked for a better person to stay with in Omaha. Hannah Perry, you’re personality reflects your flaming red hair. Maddie Jensen, you did such an amazing job with the event. You are an amazing girl and person. To Ben Colson, for letting us trash your house and being a bang up dude. Maddie Cohen, what can I say? From when I met you at Winter Chavurah sophomore year (even though I am convinced it was at Spring), you have been a great friend and a great person. I love the songs you sing and no matter what happens, MV and I truly do appreciate everything you do. Justin Baris and Zach Prelutsky, you are my bros and always have been, enough said. To my Regional Board boys, Jon, Ethan, and Caleb. It has been a pleasure becoming closer with you all and working with you to better this region. It has been really fun to screw around with you guys at ungodly hours in houses we have never been in before. Finally, to the Missouri Valley region. From the start three years ago at my first event, SLIID Fall Chavurah in Peoria, IL, I have been welcomed into this wonderful community and it has been a welcome reprieve from any stress I have had in my life. I have never had a life decision go so well. Even though I am from the St. Lou, I met new friends anew. It has been a pleasure meeting people from different places like all of you. Some day, after I have left, I will look back like it’s all new. NFTY MO Valley I truly do love you.
With Love, Your SPC, Austin Dubinsky

THE WILL OF JONATHAN FRY It was during the “here’s a circle – say something sentimental – make a smaller circle” program at Winter Chavurah this year in Denver that I realized just how much impact NFTY has had on my life. The question was asked “How many NFTY/URJ events have you been to?” and the people around me were like “5” “11” “OMG I went to 16”… and I was thinking “Holy crap, I have no life… 39.5” (and I’ve changed that number 5 times since starting my will because I keep thinking of more obscure events I’ve been to). I started NFTY because of my many years at GUCI – when I am asked “What is NFTY?”, my answer is something like “It’s a weekend of Jew camp every month”. My freshman and sophomore years, I served on PBnJTYG board, and I absolutely hated it. There was a certain NFTY giant (who will remain nameless) who did not appreciate my presence, and to be frank – I wasn’t quite fond of this person myself. We would end up getting in heated fights over every petty, insignificant thing during the numerous weekly board meetings, and he personally made me dread PBnJTYG. This ended up being a positive in my life for a couple reasons. First, I ended up joining and being very active in BBYO. I love my chapter “2’s AZA” – BBYO is not the enemy. In the end, NFTY and BBYO are both Jewish Youth Organizations, and both have their positives and negatives – (quick shout out to those who I would see at both the NFTY chavurot and BBYO conventions – Hannah Perry, Ariel Kohll, Mallory Rodgers, Rae Pfau…). Second, through my adversity, I relied a lot on PBnJ’s advisor to be a mediator, an impartial ear that was always available to listen, and a friend – thank you Amy Ravis Furey. Third, the desire to not go to those weekly board meetings drove me to run for regional board – ehrmm cabinet. Yes, you read that right – one of my top two or three reasons for running for regional songleader was so I wouldn’t have to be an active participant at PBnJTYG. I lost the election for regional songleader to the beautiful Healy Slakman. The spring chavurah where those elections took place, I was given the ultimatum by my choir teacher of “Go to a choir competition in KC this weekend or get Bs in my two hours of choir”. There happened to be a BBYO convention that same weekend at a sketch, rented Jesus camp in the middle of farm Kansas (where there is no phone reception). So during the BBYO convention that I was having a great time at, I received the news that I lost on a voicemail – did I mention it was my birthday? Pissed was I, and ready to quit NFTY I was. I eventually realized I was being irrational, I had made too many friendships to leave it all behind for something so selfish – but it did hurt a lot. Less than a week later, I was #appointed anyways, so I’ll quit whining. Since then, being on Regional Board has been absolutely amazing. I wish I hadn’t taken up half a page giving so many negatives without balancing them out with the experiences of my last two years – but I have a page limit and need the space for the 112 people I listed off the top of my head… so here we go! SENIORS Justin Bohm – I stayed at your house during our first JYG, and I immediately friended your NFTY Giant brother, while you and Brad Scheer were busy doing the Pokémon rap and talking Titanic. Then I stayed at your house like four more times, and was haunted by the Lady Gaga décor. It took being a full year without Josh that I realized Justin > Josh, (don’t you dare show this to Josh). Ian Staples – my first NFTY memory is arriving at JYG at UH and meeting you. Together, we immediately stole Aliza/Naomi Gold’s camera and proceeded to take hundreds of pictures. Thank you for more than adequately, successfully completing the numerous tasks of Ruach Chair. Umm… stay classy. And sorry for breaking your bed. Zoe Bonilla – during that JYG, I remember you pouring a large cup of ice water on me during the social (foreshadowing to my feud six years later at JYG with Miranda Siler). Then when the kisses were going around during JYG Havdallah, I was sooooo excited that a pretty girl was going to kiss me! Then you blew in my ear. To this day, you are one of the people I feel closest with in the world. Keep sending me those snapchats – they are the highlights of some of my days. Ariel Kohll – I love crude humor. I love how you always take things too far. You just shaved your head. You’re cool. Hannah Radler – it’s time to tell you the truth. The first time I met you, I had just come back from Rick Recht’s Songleading Boot Camp, and I wasn’t sure if you were someone from SLBC (Emma Rehfeld). I said “Hey Emma.” When you told me your name was Hannah and not Emma, I was so embarrassed and stubborn, that I have called you Emma for the past four years. Poke. Ellie Morosohk – SQUIDWARD! RAINBOW FEATHERS! SLAAAAAAATTTT! You are awkward. Rachel Houser – you’re mousey. Your mother owes me a butter cake. Israel was one of the best months of my life because I got to spend it with you – achhhi for life. It is because of Greyhounding with you that I embarked on a yearlong phase of being obsessed with Drake. I know I was a butt for a couple months and especially during intersession, but like it or not, you are one of my closest friends and I want to go to Harry’s in Ballwin, Missouri and get a Snowball with you in the not too distant future. Rebecca Shwartzberg – you are amazing. You have the best hair to play with. Remember that time a picture of you at my prom was on my English teacher’s wall for a good two months? Ruchi’s? Snoop dawg? I give you a lot of grief about a lot of things, but I shouldn’t be so hard on you – after all, we are camel buddies (if you are confused about this, ask me to show you a video…) Sam Rheins – Welcome to the love shack! You are the reason I lost twenty pounds at GUCI this summer – this one’s for NUBA! Jonah Kohn – I hope you’ve grown a filter in the last couple years. My parents are smarter than you are discrete… Rebecca Leaf – tic tac toe? Emily Goldman – you ROCK! Justin Baris – I love it when we bicker. (Healy+Jon>Maddie+Justin). You have been a solid replacement for NFTY Giant Hanna Katz during the bus classic “I bet you wouldn’t lick that”. I hope that being songleader this year has taught you the difference between the Shema and the Shehechiyanu. Maybe one day we can go to the Magic House Lewis and Clark exhibit together. Samantha Thal – we are going to hate the sound of each other’s voices by the end of the summer. Musical Adventure Chug – Kamp K’ton 2012 Crew 1! Andy Cohen – you might be the wittiest man I know. Nicolette Taber – for the longest time, you were just “Healy’s friend”. I remember being so excited to get “Healy’s friend” to say “Campbell’s soup” during assassins at Winter last year. Then I was awkwardly at your house on Thanksgiving. Then NFTY Convention happened. Now I consider you one of my most attractive friends in NFTY! Hoodie Allen or BUST! Hayley Wizig – I am never going to Chipotle with you again. Ethan Black – some people are born to do great things. You own them all. Zane Fletcher and Rae Pfau – although on the date of 3/28/13, you both have significant others that are not each other – you guys are going to end up getting married and having seven children and thirteen cats in Boston. Rae, look how far we’ve come since your first day in fifth grade (Laser tag party) and Mr. Lewis’s Hebrew school class, to now – WE DA PEOPLE YO! Stay golden Ponygirl! Steven Grossberg - sorry for that time on the bus in Bloomington. Sarah Green – you are the female Jon Fry, except even with the lack of motivation we both possess, you produce 50 times the product that I could ever conjure up. You are the person at school that I can tell anything and everything – uncensored. Long live Kanye/Podany/Mr.Brown’s-joke-of-aclass/Consecration-Buddies. Libby Levin – You have always been my favorite sister! Brittney Franklin – I know it will be hard, but I plan
on continuing my job of being your wingman during college. Yup. Dru Beach – I enjoy every moment in your presence. Ruthie Gertz – why didn’t I know you for four years? Hannah Price – confession time: I know this is hard to believe – I was the one who sent the MV Compliment about you, and I absolutely meant every single word of it. Sydney Fontaine – you are too chill for Antarctica? Does that make any sense? It’s getting late… Jamie Nachman, Zach Prelutsky, Healy Slakman – HOOSIER DADDY??? (read that repeatedly until you realize that’s a pun). Healy, boo – why the hell did you leave me? It’s fine. I get it – you were too busy establishing the Samantha Tratner fan club in Atlanta. I’m over it. Give me a call in 15 years when you are ready to settle down. Becca Cohen – you are never getting your pants back. Tell Shmuel my father says hello. Hannah Perry – butterfingers. You were one of my favorite long-term wives (don’t you be showing this to NFTY Giant Andi Vicksman). Alyssa Guller – one of my highlights of the year was the shenanigans we did during SLIID FALL – the bounce house, the lies we told NFTY Giant Jen Guller, the “blemish” on your face… you’re welcome for that by the way. Morissa Miller – were you afraid I left you out? Box City was an amazing experience – I tried Eileen’s Colossal Cookies for the first time, I slept inside a box when there was snow on the ground, and I met you. Please don’t be corrupted by those dirty tigers in Colombia next year. Maddie Cohen – I don’t even know how to articulate the impact you’ve had on my life. I’m going to make a bold prediction and say my college roommate next year is going to hate me because of you – yes, I’m implying that I am going to continue frequently calling you at 2 in the morning. I love you more than the combined love I have for crumb cake and peacocks. “For a second you’re here, then the next it just all disappears. Watching you drive away, there’s so many things I never got to say…” KANSAS Sarah Hellman – you’re not a senior anymore, so I put you here :P Margo Hellman – large marge. Please follow the half-your-age-plusseven rule… Scott Altman – PROSE! Tell Marion I say hello! Ethan Stone – I always secretly tried to hang around you at chavurahs because you always took the very best pictures… assuming you win the unopposed election, you’ll be amazing. Hannah Bachmuth – I win. Daniel Hakan – my Two’s and GUCI buddy! One day, I’ll persuade you to go to a sporting event with me, I’ve only tried like 5 times. ROCKCHALK Mackenzie Haun – you’re going places girl Ian Roozrokh – I have so much respect for you for so many different reasons. I can give you a list when I don’t have a page limit constraint. And you are welcome for the glorious Yearbook pictures I provided you for the SSA story. Justin Pfau – you are a cooler version of Rae. Rawr. Marcia – secret time: everyone in your Avodah educational group raved about how they LOVED you! You are amazing! NEBRASKA Abby Hack/Maddie Miller/Sierra Simpson/Sophie Budwig – Wow. I see so much NFTY potential for the four of you. This year, there were zero RegBo members from Omaha – in four years, I wouldn’t be surprised to see ALL of you on RegBo – Omaha girl power! Abby Hack, secret time! When I found out you were OTYG’s MVP in April last year, I immediately friended you on facebook, only to quickly th th realize you were an 8 grader and cancel the request (because 12 graders shouldn’t friend middle schoolers they have never met…) Seeing you grow over the year has been one of my biggest highlights of being MVP. And keep doing those wonderful dance moves we worked on at the fake beach. Maddie Jensen – you never married me like you promised, so you get no sentimental words here. Madison Crable – I am not a giraffe. Amy – I like your sass - thank you for always being first to point out my ill decisions! MISSOURI Alyson Yawitz and Miranda Rubin – get ready. I might be your head songleader one of these days at GUCI. Miranda, stay away from my sunglasses. Lee Goodman – no, you may not join the MVP Facebook page. Sorry. Sam Shabsin – you did something Sam Rheins and NFTY Giant Joel Heiman could never do: you hit a three pointer during a NFTY basketball scrimmage. I have so much respect for that. Jennifer Greenberg, Jordyn Miller, Jaime Gottlieb, and Mia Feldman – you girls are kind of creepy. I think I like it. Zach Heiman – you suck at chess. Jacob Maier – I really enjoyed getting to know you at NFTY Convention. I mean, you are no NFTY Giant Carrie Seleman, yet you shall have a long legacy as Mr. CERTY. Jacob Goldblum – I saw a kid I didn’t know at GUCI wearing a NFTY-MV shirt, and was like “Crap, I don’t even know the MV kids at camp. I’m going to be a terrible MVP”. That was you - thanks a lot. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you this year. Tyler Andreasson – you are a tease. Please continue wearing your Bedouin garb on MV Shabbats. Ellie Pinto – have an amazing time next year on RegBo! Megan Dern – you make me laugh. Jeremy Levy – Highlight of JYG this year: blocking you. You can call me Jeff Withey. H. Lee – when I think of wit, I think of Andy Cohen, but then you. I have this strong memory of you, NFTY Giant Rachel Leonard, and I having a conversation outside the GaGa pit at JYG last year, and how tender and comforting you were at that moment. You truly are a phenomenon. Stephanie – you’re alright. COLORADO Ben Colson – God, I love your TuPac sweater. You’re so chill. RIP Jeeves. Sarah Gertz – sorry for soaking you with that water balloon at LTI. You are cooler than Ruthie. I am not a giraffe. Shelby Ginsburg – Don’t let the small, petty obstacles get in your way. You have the potential to be so impactful in the community. I have so much respect for you and will miss you a lot! Ali Oksner – the deal has been made. Natalie Wilson – I hope you accomplish your life goal of being a Billabong surf model one day! Emily Kohn – You are cooler than Jonah. (sidenote: I just realized just how many younger siblings I have said this exact statement to in this will – four so far… I’m original). Devin Feigelson – there has not been a moment this year where I’ve had a bigger smile on my face, then when I opened your package. Hopefully the other MVPs live up to their MVP title and don’t take the time to read your little blurb, but just in case they do, I will type it in small font. You are one of my twelve favorite MVPs… Alissa Rosenblum – bahh, I’m going to miss our political debating. A lot. Carly Coons – Brian says hi. Simi/Aaron/Bryan – god, I envy your beards. I’ll get you guys next November. IOWA/ILLINOIS Leah Edwards-Blinderman – see above: Steven Grossberg. Hallie Martin-Chadwick – you’re chill. I like you. Raya Seidman – ok, I’ve only had like 2 conversations with you before, but I really enjoyed both of them! You’re doing amazing things for your youth group! And I promise to not steal your nametag at Spring Chavurah and force you to sing/lick-a-belly-button. Josh Simon – you keep doing what you’re doing. You rock! REGBO Caleb – I forgive you. Thanks for the burrito. Sorry guys, I ran out of space for the rest of you… awkward… “Forget tomorrow, breath in the moment, live in the now”
The Senior Will of Bari Goldman NFTY MV: It’s hard to believe that senior year has already come and gone. I remember my first event where I saw our former leaders standing before us, saying good-bye, giving away t-shirts (among other things) and telling us time flies. I couldn’t wait to be like them. Now here I am. This journey has brought me so far from the person I was but I changed for the better. During these past few years, I learned how to be a leader, how to be a good friend, and I found myself a home. If I ever met you during my time in NFTY, you most likely had something to do with it. And I say thank you for that because it means the world to me. Never stop being the welcoming and incredible community that you are. –Bari Goldman Seniors: Becca Cohen-Where to even begin. Mother dear, I’m so glad I met you. We had some pretty crazy adventures and plenty of laughs (our family tree was amazing). I always knew I could count on you for anything I needed and I hope you know I’m here for you. You showed me plenty, including making me a Starkid fanatic. But you also hugely enhanced my NFTY experience. Love you so much. Hannah Perry-Such the cool ginger, there are no words. I swear I am the luckiest person ever that I got to meet you. I know we only really became friends recently but that short time has been filled with good talks and great pics. Thanks for coming into my life. Jackie Heymann- Hopefully you know this by now, but you inspire me so much. You’ve always had this infectiously positive attitude (and I do mean always, since I’ve known you forever) and it inspired me to try it to. You are passionate about everything you do, including your friendships and I believe ours has been so blessed. Love you Jackie! Miranda Siler- I hope I’ve told you this before but you are amazing. You are an absolute genuinely kind person and hilarious to say the least. You’ve always inspired me to be a great leader because you’ve always been one yourself! I am so glad that I met you and that we became friends and have had NFTY all these years. I’ll miss you! Ethan Lang- Its seriously hard to believe that the awkward 14-year old boy I met at Camp Emeth is about to go to college. You’ve been such a great friend and such an inspiring leader since then. You were the one who explained to me what NFTY was in the first place! And I can’t thank you enough for that. Emily Goldman- Em, you started me on this crazy journey and we pretty much ended it together. So I just wanted to say thank you for giving me that. Love you always. Sara Lynn Levy- Slynn, I adore you absolutely and I am glad that I had the opportunity to meet you at camp. You are such a good friend and such a strong person, I hope you know that and never forget it. You will do incredible things at school and in life, I just know it. Always have a bow and you should be okay. Love you so much! Libby Levin- What would I do without you. That one time I crashed at your house was the first time I stayed at a stranger’s house and I was horrified. Thank you for not killing me in my sleep. But also, thank you for being such a great friend. I love you always and if you ever need a place to crash, I got you. Ian Staples- I have known you for such a long time. th When we went to JYG in 7 grade, you were the one who convinced me to stick around to try NFTY. And I just wanted to say thank you for that and that I’m really glad that I met you. Thanks for being a good friend and always being able to make me laugh. Zoe Bonilla/Maddie Cohen-You two are absolutely the perfect dynamic duo. Just wanted to say you both are beautiful and you’ve been great friends. I know you’ll do great things in the future too. Caleb Schroder- I realize I haven’t known you that long at all but you are such an awesome person that I just had to give you a shout out and say you are an amazing leader and such a great friend. I realize I didn’t follow your order to come to spring but I ended my MV adventure on such a happy note, mostly due to you. Thank you so much. Sarah Hellman-I am so glad that I got to know you at Kutz. You are such a chill and nice person and I know you are going to do incredible things in the future. I’ll miss you! Ethan Black- I just wanted to say that I was really inspired by you. I watched how you came into this completely new place and made it your own. It inspired me enough to do that with my own situation and it was incredible. Thank you so much for that and for being an all-around pretty cool guy. Jon Fry- I figured you could have a spot in here. Remember when we played Cityville on Facebook? Good times. You are actually super funny an d I’m really glad I got to meet you. Justin Bohm-Can I just say that you are one of the bravest and nicest people I have ever met? It was such a neat experience to see you go from your 8 th grade self to the person you are today. I will definitely miss you. Jamie Nachman- Can you believe we went from like 4 year old girls playing dress up to 18 year olds headed off to college? It blows my mind! I’m so glad we really reconnected and got close at winter and convention this year. You’re such a nice person and a great friend! Hopefully I’ll be seeing you in B-Town next year! Steven Grossberg- I don’t have to tell you how awesome you are because you already know that. So glad we got to go to camp together and really glad we
get to go this summer! See you there! Stay awesome! Morissa Miller/Hayley Wizig- So, I only just got to meet you two at Winter this year and I am so glad I did. You both are so cool and nice and you helped make my last event with MV one of the best ones ever. Not to mention you put up with all of the craziness that is me at 1am. Thank you so much for that! Everybody: Hannah Wolf-Hannah my dear, you have grown right before my eyes and it was so cool to see. I remember meeting you when you were just starting out and you already had huge dreams about what you would do in NFTY and I’m so glad you were able to achieve so many of them. You’ve become such an incredible leader and friend. Keep following those dreams because they will definitely take you places. Love you! Alissa Rosenblum- Alissa, you are the absolute greatest friend anyone could ask for (and a perfect ally in a high school that is seriously lacking in Jews). You’ve always stayed true to what you believe in and I seriously admire that in you. Never ever change that and I know you will do amazing things in the future! Shelby Ginsburg- Dear twin (YES), here’s your mention as promised. I don’t know if you know this, but you are much cooler than me. And I have and will always aspire to be as cool as yo badass self. But really, you are a great friend. Stay incredible, my friend and keep tumblring so I can keep up with you. Lilly Karsh- You are just adorable. And such an all-around great person. I’m so glad I went to Cincy and ended up rooming with you. I considered packing you up and taking you back to Dallas with me but I can’t do that because you have to stay in Colorado and make that place as awesome as possible. I will miss you terribly babe. Ellie Pinto- The counselor who shared my kids! I am so glad that I met you that one summer. You are the most amazing friend. Seriously, the only friend that brought me back a gift from Israel. Not only that but you are an all-around great person and you are going to do great things. Have an amazing senior year. Ali Oksner- Ali, you were hands down the best dance partner I’ve ever had. And I’m so glad that we met and stayed friends. You’ve become such an incredible leader in NFTY and it was really cool to watch it happen. Keep being such a sweetheart! Hannah Bachmuth-Do you realize we met over a Skype call? I think that’s pretty awesome, just like you. I couldn’t believe you were so young and already leading your TYG to victory. It only foreshadows an incredible future in NFTY for you. I am so glad that I got to meet you. Stay awesome! Miranda Rubin-I’m pretty sure it was about 11 at night, I was already starting to get loopy and we sat talking for about an hour. That is something pretty cool. You are such a great person and you are definitely going places in NFTY, I have no doubt. We will definitely keep in touch, especially to discuss our Starkid love among everything else! And everyone I didn’t get to know: Missouri Valley has evolved into such a fantastic and welcoming community and I’m so impressed with it. MV will always be one the best regions and it is becoming so much better with every new person that walks in and brings something. Just know, NFTY is whatever you make of it. I made it my home and anyone can too. Just remember to put yourself out there, step out of your comfort zone, and don’t be afraid to learn new things. Keep up the good work, keep MV strong, and live and die NFTY. It’s been real NFTY.
Senior Will of Alyssa Nicole Guller Dear NFTY Missouri Valley, It is crazy to even think about writing something like this. Walking into my first NFTY event 4 years ago, I never imagined that I would meet people who have had such an impact on my life. Each and every one of you has touched my life in some way, whether you know it or not. So right now I will take the time to say a few things to some of those people. I am so sorry in advance if I forget anyone. St. Louis: Jamie Nachman-You are my best friend in the world. We have been through so much together in school and in NFTY. I am always there for you, and I hope you know that just because we will be apart next year, does not change anything. Love you! Sara Lynn (Slynn)-I don’t even know where to start. NFTY is probably the reason why we became such good friends like we are today, so I am forever grateful. Remember our bonding times, like especially at Tute?? Haha. I have always been able to talk to you about anything, and I hope that never changes. Sam Collins-Through thick and thin, you will always be my friend. We always say that even when we don’t talk, our friendship never dies. That we always be the case, don’t forget that. Ethan Lang-You are like a brother to me. We have been passing back and forth our baby (the sunglasses) since Tute, and I am just impressed that neither of us (especially me) has lost them yet. I have known you forever, and I just love how our friendship has continued to grow. Plus, we did make a pretty awesome Prez-PVP team at UH last year. Justin Baris-Words cannot describe our relationship. You know you love me, even when you pretend you like my sister better. Thank you for being such a great friend to me for so many years. Austin Dubinsky-My cousin, as I definitely love to tell everyone. What can I even say? You have always been such a good friend to me, and I can always come to you with updates on my life. Keep on dressing nice and making yummy Chinese food. Sam Feldman-We’ve had our ups and downs in our friendship when it comes to our closeness, but you know I love you, and all of your other goons. Zach Prelutsky-You are such a good friend, and always fun to hang out with. I will miss you next year, so let’s definitely keep in touch. Becca Cohen-You are one of the sweetest people I know. It has been nice getting to know you better this year on cabinet. Your passion for NFTY is literally contagious. Thank you for always having that positive spirit. Zach Heiman-Words cannot even describe my love for you. I am so proud of what you have done as my successor at UH, and I know there are even brighter successes in your future. We have become so close over the past few years that it will be very sad to say goodbye. You are an amazing individual, don’t let anyone tell you differently. Mia Feldman/Jaime Gottlieb/Jen Greenberg-You ladies are fantastic. Every time you come to a NFTY event I see how eager you are to participate, and it is really inspiring. I see so much of myself and my friends in you girls. Keep the tradition of UHTYG girls going, and enjoy every moment you have together. Jeremy Levy-You are so amazing. I was literally blown away with how dedicated you are to UHTYG, and how much potential you have as a leader. Always believe in yourself, because I know you can do anything you set your mind to. Matt Frischer-We have had some nice talks in my car in the mornings. You are such a sweet guy. Thanks for putting up with my country music. Corey Fox/Alec Davison/Gibby-You guys are a lot of fun. I hope you continue to enjoy NFTY the next couple years. Emily Aiken/Rebekah Poscover-You girls are so sweet, and I really enjoyed having you in my network this year. Take advantage of the next couple years, and soak in all that NFTY has to offer. I know that if you put yourselves out there, you will do great things. Jackie Heymann-Well, the first time I talked to you was our very first high school event when we housed together. It was a little awkward at first, but I’m so glad that we got to know each other then. You are one of the nicest people I know, and you are so easy to talk to about anything. Miranda Siler-The first time we really got to know each other was in Israel, and I am so glad we did. You are so sweet and so funny, and your passion for your position as RCVP is so inspiring. I can tell that you will do great things. Miranda Rubin-I am so glad that I got to have you in my network this year! You are an amazing leader, and an allaround great person. Be proud of who you are and what your future holds. Ellie Pinto-You are such a sweetie-pie. Your cheery smile can brighten anyone’s day. It has definitely brightened mine over many occasions. I am excited to hear about all the great things you accomplish in your future. Jacob Maier-Wait…ARE YOU AT SPRING CHAVURAH?!?!?! Haha you know that never gets old, even when everyone around us gets annoyed. I am so glad that you joined NFTY, because we have gotten so close this year. Keep on representing my favorite TYG, CERTY! Alex Jacks-Remember when I was the first person you talked to in NFTY? You have changed so much since then, especially when it comes to your height. But I am so glad I did talk to you on that bus ride, because you are such an awesome person, and I’m glad we are friends. Tyler Andreasson-Remember when we met when you were just a tiny freshman? Ever since then we have had so much fun together, and our friendship has just gotten better over the years. I am going to miss you next year, and you better miss me too! Andy Cohen-You know how much I love you. We have spent plenty of time together over the past 4 years, and it will be sad to say goodbye. Colorado: Caleb Schroder-I don’t even know where to begin. You have become one of my best friends in NFTY, and only in less than 2 years. I know that college will be so good for you, and please keep me updated! I honestly love you to the moon and back. Hannah Wolf-I am about to cry just thinking about saying goodbye to you. Ali Oksner-You are seriously so sweet, and your energy lights up the room. Keep on spreading your joy! Omaha: Hannah Perry-I just love you so freaking much. I’m so glad that we’ve become such good friends. I hope that we stay in touch next year, because I definitely want to be hearing all about your life! Thank you again! Beth Lipschutz-First of all, I want to express my complete appreciation for you. I can’t imagine having anyone else as my regional advisor, because you have been so spectacular. You have always made me feel better when I’m upset or stressed, and you have been so encouraging to me on my leadership path. I am forever grateful, so thank you so much. Well, Missouri Valley, it’s been real. For those of you who are not graduating, please continue to appreciate the community that our region creates, for this is a kind of community that you may never find again. Embrace every moment, branch out and meet new people, and make memories that I know will last a lifetime. Most of all, continue the traditions of Missouri Valley so that everything I was able to experience these last 4 years will be able to live on through generations to come. Thank you so much for EVERYTHING you have done in my past 18 years. I will never forget when you called me end of 9 th grade and told me I was the next SETYG SAVP. I was jumping up and down for hours! You might not realize it, but that one decision that you made basically changed the entire course of my life. Thank you for being so supportive of all of my (sometimes) HUGE ideas, putting up with me when I stress, getting be hooked on the RAC, and just always being there to be another mommy! I love you Jodi! Becky Lyle Oh Becky. You make me laugh. A lot. Thank you so so much for being a terrific advisor, being so supportive of any projects, calming me down when I’m stressed and just being a fantasticly amazing person in general. I admire so much how you tell things like they are, no BS! Thank you so much for EVERYTHING! Nick Craynon I miss you so much. You are so supportive and fun and amazing. I will never forget the car ride after you told us you were leaving, I was heart broken! I treasured your time with us though! Thank you for being you! Beth Lipschutz You are wonderful. You are so organized, all knowing, and beyond supportive. I came to you with so many ideas and you were mo re than willing to help me with all of them. You know the perfect ballence between giving us a little bit of help when needed and just letting us fly. I could not have possibley in a million years asked for a better regional advisor. Truth. I know that I can come to you with any problem, NFTY or in life, and you will help me talk through it (even when I am so stressed!) and figure it out. Every converstation I have ever come out of with you has been less stressed out than before I talked to you! T HANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING! I love you so much, Beth! Giants: Becca Levine Wowza. Where do I even begin? You inspired me to be the best board member that I could be. You are such a fantasticly amazing, passionate person and I am so so glad that I got the privledge of learning so much from you and being so close with you! Molly Goldberg Although you may not remember, you taught me how to write my first program. I will never forget that. Ever since that, your passion for social action has caused me to look up to immensely. Tha nk you. Stacy Bernstein Twinny!!! I love you so much! Thank you for always being there for me, making me laugh and going on lunch dates me with. I love you! Andi Vicksman Stop. I love you so much. You are one of my best friends in the entire world. Your compassion for everyone amazes me. I am so lucky to have you looking after me. You have guided me through my senior year and I cannot thank you enough. I LOVE YOU! Emma Compton Your passion. Wowza. It amazes and inspires me. Thank you for being such an amazing friend and being there for me when I went on “I love the RAC” rants. I LOVE YOU! Rachel Leonard I remember leaving the social at Spring 2012 like it was yesterday. Thank you for always being there for me and encouraging me. Not to mention that your Action Theme was FANTASTIC! I love you! David Coons You rock my socks. End of story. Missouri Valley Thank you for giving me some of my best friends, my best memories and for the change to lead yall in new social action ventures. I am who I am today because of NFTY Missouri Valley. I have learned so much about who I am and who I want to be because of the opportunities that NFTY presented me. Please, take advantage of every opportunity. Go to every event, go to Israel, go to Kutz, go to Mitzvah Corps, run for regional or TYG board, meet all of the new people t hat you can. You never know which opportunity will change your life. For me, it was running for SAVP of SETYG in 2010. Because of NFTY, I now know what I want to do with my entire life and I could not be more grateful. I cannot believe that this is good bye and I cannot believe that this goodbye is such poop but I really cannot put into words how much this community, and each one of you, has transformed me. Before Passover, my Rabbi talked about how the Jewish people had to drop everything and leave Egypt, even though they might not have been ready. If they had waited until they were ready, they might never have left. This is how I am currently feeling. I am in no way ready to leave you, MV, but I know that if given the opportunity to be a super senior I’ll never leave and yall are ready to have the next generation of leaders take over. So, with that said, I am being kicked out of MV and off to face the scary real world. Thank you so much for giving me such an amazing home for 6 years, I love you all! Advisors, thank your countless hours of hard work and dedication to NFTY and the campaign for Youth Engagement. You are changing the future of our movement each and every day.
The Senior Will and Testament of Ariel Tiffany Kohll Dear NFTY-MV, Never have I ever thought that I would regret a trip to Europe, but here I am wishing I could be with you all at my last Spring. My heart is filled to the brim with love and appreciation for every single one of you, but I have a few I feel the need to mention. Caleb - You are an inspiration. I don’t have the words to tell you how much I love you. You blow my mind with your patience and kindness. Ethan Lang - No matter how hard you try to deny my love, you are always there for me and always know what to say. You are my rock. Miranda - Your beauty and kindness will take you far in life. I love you. Jackie - Don’t change. You know how to make people smile and I love that. Justin Baris - From awkward moments in Masada to talking me into staying at camp (which was a great decision), you’ve always done me good, and kept me grounded. Even though you’re sometimes a little bit sketchy, you’re a shining star. Ethan and Ian - You are the cutest, most amazing, and fun boys I have ever met. I know you will go far in NFTY. Don’t forget about me. Justin Bohm - You are so sassy! Gosh I’ll miss you. Alyssa Guller - I just can’t help but be happy any time I’m near you. You eminate joy and confidence. I adore you. J Nach - I’ve never met someone whose beauty radiates from the inside as much as you. Stay golden. Austin Dubinsky - Your dedication and strength have always inspired me. Also, you’re Asian. Just accept it. I love you. Jon Fry - You’re going to get a million mentions in everybody’s wills, so I just thought I’d tell you that you have definitely made an impact on my life. Zoe Bonilla - Just thinking about you makes me happy. You are beautiful and wonderful and amazing. I wouldn’t be the girl I am today without you. Lilly Karsh - You are every smile and hug; every bird and tree and wind and fire. You are an inspiration and a blessing. NFTY-MV is lucky to have you, and I’m lucky to know you. Hannah Bachmuth - You are my sunshine! You never fail to make me laugh, and I’ll miss you a lot. Zoe Tova - “Because I knew you, I have been changed for good.” - Wicked OTYG - I’ve got time to thank and hug each of you individually. Advisors - Thank you so much for what you do. NFTY wouldn’t be possible without you. Though you sometimes go unappreciated, know that you have made an impact on our lives. With that, I surrender to real life. I give myself over to taxes and insurance and sleeping the whole night through. Though I may be leaving NFTY, NFTY will never leave me. Thank you all for the memories, hugs, tears and smiles. I’ll never forget these past years, which were the best of my life. I hope to see you all again someday. With all my love, Ariel Kohll “If there is ever tomorrow when we are not together, there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you know. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart, I will always be with you.”
Jonah Kohn’s Senior Will So I’ve been in NFTY all four years and I’ve seen so many great people and traditions that leave their mark on NFTY forever. My favorite tradition that we do is friendship circle. I love the idea of the circle. Circles are infinite, they never have an end. This shows that the love within the NFTY community is never-ending. The other thing I love about circles is that no one is left out. I get to look at each and every one of your beautiful faces, and you get to look at mine! Because my love of circles is so great, thought to myself: I should will down a circle. So to my sister, Emily Kohn, I’d like to give you this ring. On the outside it has your Hebrew name, Sara. And on the inside it has the words Love and Family, because that’s what you’ll find here at NFTY and that’s what you’ll find from me. Thanks NFTY.
Senior Will of Ethan Henry Lang Missouri Valley: Over the past four years, my life has been drastically changed. I have learned how to be a good participant, leader, and Jew. But most importantly, I’ve learned how to become a good friend. The hardest friendships to have are the ones stretched over a thousand miles. Each and every friendship made during my time in NFTY has opened my eyes to all of the wonderful people from across our part of the country. I can truly say that my best and closest relationships are with those people that see NFTY just as I do: a beautiful, beautiful thing. I began NFTY as the little brother of the Regional President. It was such a weird feeling to me, because I seemed to know everything and nothing at the same time. When I began to take leadership roles on myself was when I truly began to learn. I began to hold immense amount of attitude and accomplishment. It was the fact that I was working for a higher cause than myself that brought about knowledge and happiness. I have selected a group of people that I want to mention in here. But before I do so, I want to mention how important each and every one of you are to me. Please talk to me in the years to come, as I’m sure all of you will do wonderful things in your lives. Rae Pfau, Morissa Miller, Zane Fletcher: You are the three people that always reminded me why I did NFTY. If I ever became stressed during an event, it was after talking to you guys that I felt better. I know that each and every one of you are great friends and I know we will be close for a long time to come! Sophomores of SETYG: I see a bright future for each and every one of you. During the past two years, each of you has showed me what NFTY truly means, and for that, I thank you. Zach Heiman and Tyler Andreasson: The hardest part about leaving Regional Board is being confident that great leadership remains in the region. It is with the two of you that I am certain that the leadership of Missouri Valley will only get better. H. Lee Rosenberg: You truly are the best advisor in all of NFTY. You helped me keep my sanity over these past four years and I feel we have a great relationship. I can’t imagine having anyone else stand in for you. You are incredible in my eyes. Beth Lipschutz: It’s amazing how I have managed to have such a good relationship with an advisor that lives so far away. You love your job and you do an amazing one! Your hard work really shows, especially to me. If it were not for you, my job would have been much more difficult and almost unbearable. NFTY Giants (Mira Barasch, Ethan Bennett, Ben Seitzman, Kyle Tons, Molly Goldberg, Raizel Small, Brittany Handler, Tori Balkin, Dante Velez, Adam Grosman): I got to know each of you pretty well because of my brother. And because of that, of regarded each of you as an older sibling. Whenever something great happened in NFTY, I would think of each of you, and how your NFTY spirit rubbed off on me. Each of you holds a dear place in my heart, without which my NFTY journey would have been very different. Jackie Heymann and Miranda Siler: We abuse each other, while secretly loving each other. I cannot even think of the amount of times we’ve said that we hate each other. You two are the sisters that I never had, always being amazing friends. Austin Dubinsky and Sara Lynn Levy: Both of you have helped make my year incredibly fun and joyful. Being on board would have been much more stressful if you had not showed me that we’re here to have fun. I love both of you for that. Caleb Schroder: My president. Well, I guess both of our guesses were wrong. We didn’t end up killing each other. I’m really happy, because I really got to know you as a friend. You are wonderful and I cannot imagine having anyone else as my president. I’m so glad to have spent the past year working so closely with you and I know our friendship will hold for years to come. Jonathan Fry: You are the reason why I had so much fun this year. We were inseparable at every event and I loved every moment of it! Our late night talks each night of events are what got me through some tough times. You’ve really proved to be an amazing friend and I’m so glad that we are close now. It’s going to be tough not seeing you monthly, but I’m sure that next year we’re going to have some great 3 a.m. calls. Hannah Wolf: What can I say? I’m having trouble finding the words to explain how important you are to me. This year, we’ve talked every single night, and I have treasured every moment of it. Whether it’s NFTY, school, or friends, you’re always there to settle my
problems. I know that you will do amazing things next year and beyond, and I’ll be cheering you on from wherever I am. David Coons and Hanna Katz: My best friends, the people that I want to become, the people that I always want to be with. You are two of the most amazing I know. Both of you have made my life incredibly special and I’m so happy to remain friends with you. I know our friendships will only grow, and it began in NFTY. Thank you for getting through tough times and being there with me for fun times. There are three more people that I have to thank. These are the three most important people in my life, and without them, NFTY would not have even been a possibility for me. Mom and Dad: My supporters, my teachers, my friends. The two of you have brought me all that I could ever dream of in life. Even when you give me amazing things, you still tell me to look for more. I know that everything you do for me is to bring me happiness, and you’ve been incredibly successful. Merely paying for all of my NFTY events was such an amazing idea. But the fact that both of you were there to cheer me on and help me with all of my endeavors was such an amazing gift. I love each of you with all of my heart and I know that you are the best parents a child could ever have. Jeremy: I still vividly remember my freshman year. We were together all the time between school, baseball, and NFTY. It was during this year that we became close and I loved it. I am in awe of everything you did and continue to do. I saw you run this region, taking it to amazing heights. It is the standards that you set that has allowed for this year’s board to do great things. I’ve always aspired to be you and do what you do. In a lot of ways, I’ve accomplished that. But it was when I began to realize what you truly stand for that I became successful. All of the work done in your life is because that is what you’ve wanted to do. You’ve work hard because you’ve believed in those projects. That is why I’ve been able to focus so intently on everything I’ve done this past year, and I owed it all to you. You truly are the most amazing person in my life, and I am so happy to call you my big brother. It’s a very weird feeling to be a senior in NFTY. High School is not where you want to be, but you suck it up so you can see your friends from across the country every couple of months. But this itch to leave High School gets worse and worse as the year goes on. A love of NFTY can help soothe it, but not in any way cure that feeling. That is why, with the end of this year, a strange but okay thought has been going through my mind. As sad as I am, I’m fine with moving on in my life. I feel as though NFTY has given me so many wonderful tools to be successful in life, and I want to see where these tools take me. NFTY is such a bittersweet thing, because you always know that it’s going to come to an end. I have reached my end and can say that I have no regrets. I worked to get everything out of NFTY as I possibly could, and I feel that was accomplished. Each and every person in this organization has had such an immense effect on me that almost none of you will ever know. As I end my time with NFTY, I want to say thanks.
Sara Lynn Levy’s Senior Will STL Alyssa Guller: Basically, I just owe all of this to you. I can’t even express how thankful I am that you convinced me to go to Fall Freshman year. You also were the one who convinced me to run for board when I didn’t think I’d be able to. Pretty much all of my NFTY involvement is because of you, and I’m so happy we’ve been on this whole journey together. Love you! Ethan Lang: Oh Ethan… we’ve come such a long way, haven’t we? Remember how we used to fight all the time? Like that one time you made me cry and then told me I was ugly? Well I’m so glad the last few years have matured us a bit because I’m so happy that we’ve become so close. I can’t imagine any part of my NFTY career without you in it and I love you so much! P.S. Thanks for the birthday present! I’ll keep it forever;) Jackie Heymann: You’re perfect. Just throwing that out there. I’ve absolutely loved working with you this year and I’m constantly so impressed by every single thing you do. You give the best advice on anything and your mom makes the best French toast ever. You also never fail to cheer up by singing me the hottie song. We might have lost touch for a few years in the middle, but we were preschool besties, so as far as I’m concerned, we’ve best friends for 15 years. Love you! Miranda Siler: From second grade science projects to being on board together, it’s been amazing working with you. I’m so so glad we got to reconnect this year! You are so dedicated and just so good at what you do. I also just realized that my Lilly notebook is basically just a much funnier version of that quote book we had in sixth grade. I love you so much and I can’t wait to visit you next year, whatever city you may be in. Sam Collins: My best friend in the whole world. We’ve been through so much together and even a few fights along the way, but you’ve always been there for me. We met in NFTY because we were both really awkward and had no friends, but our friendship has obviously come a long way since then. Even though it sucked not having you at events this year, I’m SO happy you decided to come to Spring. If there’s anyone I’m wasting a goodbye on, it’s you. We won’t ever actually say goodbye to each other because you know our paths will just keep crossing over the years until we’re c ute little housewives and live next door to each other. Can’t wait to come to Tuscaloosa next year:) Love you so much!!! Austin Dubinsky: You’re just the best. Thanks for helping me survive Spanish and all the drama in my life. And for actually responding to me when I text you with my boy issues. Oh, and for staying friends with me after seeing how I act on planes early in the morning. I’ve loved working with you this year and you’re always so supportive of all of us. And now that you and the other guys are beginning to threaten boys if they ever hurt me, I’m proud to say I’ve trained you well. Justin Baris: My favorite brother/husband/John Mayer threesome-buddy. Despite some awkward first encounters, I’m so glad we met sophomore year. It’s been so fun being friends with you the past few years and knowing someone who is basically the guy version of me. Maybe it sounds a little cocky so say I like hanging out with someone who I just compared to myself. But you check yourself out in mirrors and basically any reflective surface too often to judge me. Jamie Nachman: I’m so glad that I’ve gotten to go through my NFTY experience with you! We’ve been so close the past few years in and out of NFTY and I loved all the time we’ve spent together. You never fail to cheer me up or make me laugh. Love you so much and I can’t wait to come up to Indiana next year! UH Sophomore Girls: You girls are all so sweet and it makes me so happy to see y’all loving NFTY so much. I’m so excited to see all of the great things you do in the next two years. Make sure you all keep in touch and check in with me every once in a while! Zach Heiman: I’m so glad we’ve been so close for the past three years. You’re so fun to talk to, even if it’s just one of our super long complaining/venting sessions. I’m already excited to see all the amazing things you’re going to do next year. You’ve done such a great job within UHTYG, and I couldn’t be more proud that you’re taking your leadership to the region. I’m sure you’ll do great at Harvard or Yale (both of which will probably offer you a full scholarship), but hit me up if you want to see the south! Andy Cohen: You probably don’t remember this, but you were the first friend I ever made in NFTY. I’m so glad we’ve stayed friends this whole time because you’re one of the funniest people I know and I always have so much fun hanging out with you. Becca Cohen: The passion you have for NFTY is so incredible. It definitely rubs off on the entire region and you make everyone love it as much as you do! Ellie Pinto: You’ve done such a great job in SETYG this past year and I know you’ll do a fabulous job in the region! I’m so glad we got to be closer this year and I’ve absolutely loved all of the random heart-to-hearts we’ve had! Good luck next year! Rebecca Bloom: I’m so glad I got to meet you this year! You’re so cute and you better be keeping in touch with me after I graduate! I’m also expecting lots of visits next year from my future longhorn \m/ Btw, we’re scheduling a lunch date with Miranda ASAP. Miranda Rubin: It’s been so fun getting to know you over the year. I’m so sad our NFTY careers didn’t overlap for very long, but I know the rest of yours is going to make me so proud. You’re already so dedicated to NFTY and you did an amazing job songleading JYG. I know you’re going to do some amazing things with the rest of the time you have here and I want to hear all about them! Can’t wait for you and Rebecca to come stay with me next year! Alyson Yawitz: I’m so glad I finally found someone who shares my ridiculous monogram obsession. Besides being one of the sweet est people ever, you’re so inspiring. You’re going to save the world one day. I’m so excited to see the impact you make in NFTY and everywhere else. Jeremy: I know a lot of the time we like to pretend like we don’t like each other, but I’ll put that aside for a little while. I think being in NFTY together has made us so much closer and it makes me so happy to see that you love it as much as I do. I’m so incredibly proud of all of your RC work this year and I know you’ll just continue to impress me over the next few years. Keep loving NFTY and remember to make the most of every single second. I love you so much! Illinois Ilana and Raya: It makes me so sad that y’all got into NFTY just in time for me to leave, but I love how much you already love it. You guys are the sweetest and it seriously makes me SO happy that you were able to get so much out of Winter. I hope y’all stay involved next year and have the best senior year ever! KC Jon Fry: Remember how we used to not know each other? Like that time in Israel when I said hi to you and you didn’t know who I was… Glad to know those days are over. Now that you hang out with my mom and watch Anchorman after I go to sleep, I think it’s safe to say we’ve gotten a lot closer. We’re probably way too close judging by all the weird details of my life I’ve chosen to share with you. I couldn’t have asked for a better (or more entertaining) co. You’re the best! I have no doubt that we’ll be keeping in touch. Whenever I start to miss you, I tend to wake up with strange voicemails from you at 3 in the morning. You never fail to make my life more interesting! Love you forever co! Hayley Wizig: You’re awesome and I’m so glad we got to meet at Winter last year! We’ve had so much fun these past two
years and I still think it’s awesome that we got to go to a concert in Houston together. Have so much fun at Indiana next year! Love you! Rae Pfau: You’re so sweet and I’m so glad you came back to events this year! I’ve loved hanging out with you, even when it’s driving around while Jon gets me lost in my own city. You’re a genius, so I know you’ll be amazing no matter where you are next year. Love you! Justin Pfau: You’re just perfect. That’s all. Omaha Hannah Perry: Hannah Renee Perry, I’m still not really sure why you feel the need to always refer to me by my full name (or a lot of the other things you say, for that matter) but I’m so glad we became friends this year! You’re so awesome and I love hearing about all of the crazy occurrences in your life. Just in case I haven’t clarified, I do not hate you. Love you! Morissa Miller: You’re the besttttt. You’re so so sweet and such an amazing friend and it’s been so fun hanging out so much this year. Western Fall at your house probably made it one of my favorite events ever. I know I’ll be missing you a lot next year, so don’t be surprised if I show up to come sleep on yours and Zoe’s floor. Abby Hack: First of all, you’re absolutely adorable. More importantly, you are one of the most natural born leaders I’ve ever met. I’m always so astounded by the work you do that I always forget you’re a freshman. I can’t even imagine the amazing things you’re going to go on to do, but you better keep me updated on all of it! Hannah Budwig: It makes me so sad that you weren’t at Winter but I’m so glad you’re back for Spring! I’m so glad we met this year because you are so sweet. I always forget that you’re not actually in my grade, but I know you’ll have an amazing senior year! Denver Hannah Wolf: I love you so so much and I’m so glad we got to work together this year. It’s so crazy to think that only a year ago we bonded because we were going crazy stressing over our speeches. Our friendship has come such a long way since then but you’ve always been there for me through it all. You’ve done such an amazing job as CVVP this year and you’ve put so much work into every single thing. I know you’re only going to exceed all expectations next year and make all of us so proud. I know they haven’t been as frequent recently, but I don’t expect Skype calls to stop once I’m in college. Hopefully I’ll be in Austin and you’ll actually be visiting me in person! You see Jonah more, so you should definitely stay with me. Keep me updated on everything next year and remember that I’m always here whenever you need a venting sesh. I love you so much! Caleb Schroder: Just letting you know up front, I hope you cry. It’s my favorite. How weird is it to think that we didn’t know each other at all just a year ago? It’s crazy how much can change in such a short time. I can truly say it’s been an honor working with you this year. You are such an amazing leader. Like really, you’ve gotten North American acknowledgment of that. You handle everything so well. Including our board when we aren’t capable of behaving like normal people during Veida sessions. You’ve done such an incredible job this year and I know it’s only a preview of all the amazing things you’ll go on to do. I love you so much and I hope the fact that you hate the state of Texas won’t make you hate me too much. P.S. I’m still funnier than you. Zoe Bonilla: Twinnnnnn, if you have any idea why we didn’t become friends until this year, please let me know because I can’t figure it out. I’m so glad we’ve gotten to be so close. It’s actually scary how alike we are. You’re the best! And it’s been so great always having someone who completely understands whatever I’m going through. You don’t have to worry, because you know I’ll be making lots of visits to one of my favorite tigers next year:) Maddie Cohen: You’re one of the nicest and most talented people I’m ever met. Even though it was way too late, I’m so glad we became friends this year. Love you! Texas…? Bari Goldman: I know you don’t really live here anymore, but I’m just sticking to my denial and hoping you’ll be at spring to read this. It’s so weird to think that we never actually knew each other when we were in the same region. But I’m so so so happy that we got to go to Kutz together! You’re with a doubt one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. I don’t know how I would have gotten through this summer without you. You’re the best! And thanks for welcoming me as an honorary NFTY-TORite:) Board: Words honestly can’t express how much I love all of you. I know I’ve already written something to each of you, but I also feel the need to address you as a whole. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to spend my last year with. You all are so so amazing and I love the little family we’ve become. From attempting to deal with me when I cry during plane landings to staying up and skyping with me while I’m actually bawling my eyes out, you guys have constantly been there for me. I don’t even know how I’ll be able to survive next year without y’all. Love you so much! H. Lee: I know you don’t do emotions, so I’ll try to keep this short. Thank you so much for everything over the past four years. You have been so supportive and helpful throughout my whole journey and I know I wouldn’t be where I am without your help. As sad as I am to graduate, I can’t wait for my hug!! Beth: I don’t even know how to thank you for everything this year. You always tell us how amazing we are, but we wouldn’t be able to do any of it without you. You do so much for the region and it’s been an honor working with you this year. You go so far beyond just your job description and really are our “mommy”. Even when it has nothing to do with NFTY, you’re always there if I need anything. I don’t think I could have gotten through this year without you. Thank you so much for everything. NFTY Giants: If I took the time to thank all of my giants who have helped me along the way, that alone would be longer than the rest of my will so I apologize for the generalization. I can truthfully say I would be nowhere near where I am today without the paths that you all made for me first. Especially as an underclassman, I don’t think I can express how much it meant to me to have your support and encouragement. Thank you for making me love NFTY as much as you did, and especially for helping me grow into the person I am now. Love you all!
Senior Will: NFTY has been such a big part of my life. It has helped me find who I am, and really made me think about things. I am so glad that I got to know every person that I did. Omaha Sophie, Maddie, Sierra, and Abby R: You four are really the future of OTYG. It has been great watching you all find a love for NFTY just as I have for the past 4 years now. I can’t wait to see what you 4 turn OTYG into. I know it will be something great. Maddie Jensen: Every time I see you, you’re always happy and it makes me happy to see how much you love NFTY and OTYG. You can do amazing things! Abby Hack: It’s weird to think that you’re only a freshmen. You are so mature and already such a good leader. Starting on board as a freshman you have managed to do a great job getting members for OTYG. I can really see you taking over and I am going to be excited to come back and see what you turn it in to. th Ariel: I believe it was 4 grade when I first saw you. I instantly knew that we had to become friends. Soon we found that we lived close and began hanging out more and more until it was every weekend. I have seen you at your worst and your best and back again. You really inspire me to do great things and to always do my best. I am so proud of everything you have done not only for yourself but for your little sister. Hannah Perry: You are one of the most influential, smartest, most caring people I have ever met. You have done such an amazing job taking over OTYG this year and it has gone so well. You are also the most amazing friend. You are always there for me even if it is at 1:00am. I can’t wait to find out what college you pick and see what kind of difference you make in the world. I love you girlfriend. Hannah Budwig: I don’t know whether to call us sisters or friends. You are one of the best friends a girl could ask for. You have been amazing on board this year as well, Don’t be afraid for next year because you are going to do so well. From the minute you my brother met you he loved you. You are the most genuine, nice guy I have ever met. I am so thankful that he loves you because that gave me the opportunity to get close to you. You stand up for what you believe in no matter what and you are always there for people. I hope that you do great things one day. Margo Hellman: The first time I met you, you were playing ‘bet you can’t lick that’ with Hannah Bachmuth and you had to lick the inside of my ear. I only have one word for you, hilarious. I don’t know why but now I know that there is no reason because you truly are such a sweet girl. I love you so much have fun at college! Alyssa Guller: I could not have asked for a better room at convention or a better group of girls to get close with. Jamie Nachman: I just wanted to start off by saying that you have done such a good job as our regional DVP. I have truly learned so much from you and now I really know how to be a diva. I love you so much; have fun next year with Healy! I know you will! Justin Baris: Thank you so much for everything this year. I am so proud of everything you do Hannah and I love you so much. Whatever you do in life, you will always do well. I love you and have an amazing senior year. Caleb Schroder: You have been the biggest help to me this year. Whether it’s a stupid question or something serious, you always have a good answer or good advice to give. Whenever I am with you it’s always a good time because you always have something to say to make me laugh. Thank you for helping put together the best year in NFTY for me. Emily Kohn: I swear you are supposed to be graduating with me. You are by far the most mature sophomore I have ever met. I love talking to you every day since JYG. You are so fun to be around and so helpful in about all situations. We are always there for each other no matter what. I can’t wait to see what you bring to your youth group and NFTY in your next 2 years in high school! Ali Oksner: Through all the years that I have known you, I don’t think that I have ever seen you not smiling. You are such a funfilled and and fun-loving person. I am so glad I met you and I can’t wait to see what comes next for you. Sam Rheins: I have never met anyone in my life that I have so much in common with as you. I can’t wait to see how you are going to change the world through what you have learned over the years. Amy Katz: You have been there since the beginning to help me with anything I need. You have always been there to make sure that I am having a good time, and if you notice I’m not, you are always there to help find something better. Thank you for being an amazing advisor all four years of my high school career and thank you for being someone I can always turn to. Beth: Even though I only met you this year, you have been such a help to not only me, but to OTYG as well. Thank you so much for helping out with fall. Thank you also for the opportunity to lead a program at winter. I had so much fun writing the program and leading it. Thank you for getting involved in OTYG and helping us hopefully find a new advisor. It means so much knowing that you are helping OTYG stay strong. MORISSA MILLER
The (Senior) Will and Testament of Hannah Perry To all, NFTY is probably the best in the world. It’s not an object you can carry around, it’s not a place you can go to, it’s not eve n a person to care for, but NFTY is all around us in our hearts, minds, bodies, and souls. Those who have time left, cherish it. It ’ll pass sooner than you know it. I challenge all of you to be more inclusive, better activists, and keep the spirit in Missouri Valley alive. This is where I found my best friends in the whole world – I’ll miss all of you. OTYG, all of y’all rock! Sometimes I hear other youth groups talk about drama between members or petty fights they had, and I am so proud to say I’ve never seen anything like that! No matter what we’re doing, everyone is friendly, caring, and just wonderful . Underclassmen, I’m not scared to go away to college because I see all of you fighting to continue what the NFTY giants before us also did – keep this youth group strong and healthy. I watched some of you truly step out of your comfort zones this year, and I want to make it clear how proud I am of all of you! To my board, no amount of brownies will show my gratitude for planning rocking programs and always following through, but you know I’ll try to bake enough anyway! Please, anytime you need me, you want to chat, I’ll always b e around! Omaha: H-Budwig: I’m so amazingly proud of everything I’ve watched you do the past few years. I could never ask for a better successor than yo u. I know it’s frightening, leading a youth group all by yourself without the best woman in the world there t o help you (the lovely Amy Katz), but I know one-hundred-percent that you can do it. I’ll always be just a phone call away if you need anything! I’ll love and miss you. Make next year all you wish it to be – you deserve it. Mo: I love you, girlfriend. More than life itself, you’re my best friend. I have no idea what I would do without you. I know sometimes you doubt yourself, but I know there’s no reason for you to think anything besides thi s: You’re beautiful, smart, funny, kind, caring, and friendly. Sometimes you’re like my mother, sometimes more like my lover, but always the person I want by my side. I’ll miss you this summer and next year, but friendships like these never die. I’ll always be there for you, just like you’ll always be there for me. Thank you, for all you’ve done. Ariel: In elementary school, I thought you were the coolest person in the world. Honestly, you still easily are. You are such an inspiration to me all the time. You remind me to live big, but dream bigger b ecause we can all far surpass expectations with the right amount of heart. Thanks for being one of my best friends. I’ll always love you. AbbzHack: I remember you when you were a head shorter than me (not the other way around), but it is only recently that we’ve become such great friends. You are so capable with everything you do for this youth group! I know OTYG is in a good place as long as you’re there to help it. I probably admire you even more than you admire me. Keep smiling and call me anytime, you know I’ll put everything aside for yo u anytime. Hannah Radler: You have been such a huge part of my life for many years and I owe you a big thank you for being so kind and caring all these years! Good luck chasing your culinary dreams (I love the cookies)! Jacob Arnold: Working in the office with you the past five years has been a blast! My only advice to you is to always speak up! You have such great thoughts in your head, but no one will ever know if you don’t open your mouth! Stay active in OTYG because I know it could use a guy like you! Maddie/Sierra/Sophie/Abby R: I am so proud of everything you guys have done this year! You’ve been such a great help in OTYG, and will do great things for our youth group in the future. I can’t wait to come back and visit and see the beautiful things you’ll create! Thanks for making every local event brighter an d happier! Kansas: Jon: You and I have been friends since the very beginning. Though we don't talk often, every time I see you it's like nothing in our relationship has ever changed. You're sweet, you're hilarious, and I don't think I'll ever forget your favorite candy... Love you and miss next year. Rae: You're probably my favorite person, hands down, at every NFTY event. You're so ridiculously cool and pretty that I don't know how you're friends with me, but I'm so glad you are! Rae-Lee-Pfau, we've had some great times since freshman year, and I will miss your beautiful face next year! You're going to do fantastic things with your life, and I can't wait to watch! Mackenzie: I loved rooming with you at Convention! Seriously, I can't believe we weren't friends before then because you're one of the best people in this region. You're so passionate about this organization and you're going to do great things with BTTY next year! Don't worry, I'm already planning to crash one of your events! Hannah Bachmuth: We’re practically the same person (at least if you looked at that one night…), but really you're even better than I am! I always forget how young you are because you've taken on such great responsibility this year! Good luck with the rest of your NFTY career, I'll miss you! Margo: Where have you been all my life?! You're so outgoing, so real, and so YOU! I'm super jealous of how easily you can just let go and be yourself! Don't ever change a thing , girl, you're beautiful inside and out! Justin Pfau: Rae talks about you so much I feel like you could maybe be my brother too. All of your energy for NFTY is contagious, and it was such an honor knowing you this year! I’m so jealous of all the time you have left, so have lot s of fun with it! Colorado: Shelby: I’m so happy we became friends because I just love you so much! You’re crazy, but you have so much heart and soul, and I see it in everything you do. You keep me sane, but always laughing. Thanks for being the best, I love you. Caleb: You just make me smile, and that’s probably the best thing about you. I love talking to you all the time and seeing you be such a great President all year. It i s such a blessing that we had the opportunity to get so close this past year. You’re going to be a great history teacher some day, and you know I’ll come visit you at CSU next year for sure! Love and miss you so much. Zoe: Wifey, I don’t know how I would have survived high school without you. Really, it is a testament to our friendship that you still have our seventh grade marriage license tacked up on your wall! My love for you is truly never-ending. You’re so beautiful and you have this wonderful way about you of making me feel like I’m the queen of the world when everything else is falling apart. I’ll never be able to replace you. I can’t wait to visit Mizzou and see my two best friends next year! My heart is forever yours. H-Wolf: Tampon video. Creepy waiter. Paper plane animation. Yeah, you rock. I love that our friendship grew this year, but I’m also really sad we weren’t this close for many, many years! You are one-of-a-kind and I love you every second for it. Come visit Mo and I in Nebraska when you see your relatives! I’ll miss your beautiful face next year! Emily: I really don’t know where you’ve been all my life
because every text message I receive from you makes my day! You’re so pretty and funny and nice and I ridiculously love you. I can’t wait to fly out to Colorado and visit you very, very soon! Enjoy every second you have left in NFTY because it only gets better! Love you so much! Rebecca Leaf: We make a fantastic furniture building team! Let’s go into business, yeah? But really, I loved rooming with you at Convention and just generally talking to you all of this year! Keep in touch next year! I’ll miss you! Ian: I feel like I’ve known you just about forever. It has been such a pleasure being your friend all of these years. You’re so funny and outgoing and wonderful to be around! Good luck on all your future endeavors! Ethan: I’m just really happy you’re a Game of Thrones fan. It probably made my night. That is all. Have fun at college next year! Lilly Karsh: This is a little weird to say, but I miss when we were best friends at camp summer of 2008. If I could ask for a do -over, it would easily be stay close with Lilly Karsh over the years. You’re such a beautiful girl, inside and out, and I hope the rest of you r life is filled with happiness! Ali: You’re so fantastic! Whether it was searching for our non-existent envelope at LTI or discussion our future plans in deep and meaningful manner, I love spending time with you! You truly speak to me. I’m certain that you will do great thing s with FCTYG next year! Jonah: You’re such a great guy! Thanks for building that TV set for Rebecca and I so we could just hand you the wrong bolts and pretend it was okay. Also thank you for always talking to me and being a great friend at every NFTY event! I’ll miss seeing y ou next year! Sam Rheins: Thank you for the fantastic advice. Seriously, it has saved my neck several times. Since LTI, I have certainly forgotten your birthday and favorite color and whatever else we pretended to know about each other, but I do remember how great of a friend you were to me all year! I’ll miss you so much! Maddie Cohen: You are the most beautiful girl to walk to face of the earth. I’m in love with everything you do. You open your mouth and an angel sings. That was slightly creepier than I meant it to sound, but the points stand tru e. You’re such a great person and a great friend who I’m thrilled to have known all these years! When you become rich and famous, please thank me in your acceptance speech! Becca Schwartzberg: The best moment of every NFTY service for me is during the Barchu when everyone bows at the first line and you and I always catch each other’s eyes and shake our heads. Hands down, you understand me more than anyone else ever has. We’ve both grown up quite a bit since JYG, but nothing in our friendship has ever changed, and I love you so much f or it. If you don’t keep in touch with me, I’m going to cry every day. I love you so much and I’ll miss you all the time. Bari: I was walking through the Denver airport when suddenly I turned around and this super hot girl was following me. I was like, “Whaaa?” but she followed my youth group all the way to the table where we were sitting and that was just so weird. Imagine my shock to find it was you! I am so glad it was you. I love talking to you so much! Thanks for being the best, I love you. STL: Jackie: I have no words to accurately depict my love for you. Whether it’s our two text-long conversations, or sharing articles on our favorite intelligent topics, without fail, you always make my day. I have a whole list of your fantastic past quotes, but I c hose this one to remember, “I want my school to be in the jungle. My classmates will be tigers. Rawr.” I’ll love you and miss you so much next year! Miranda Siler: Everyone still calls me your name, but it’s probably one of the most complimentary things anyone could say to me, so I love it. Seriously, you’re the bright spot of many moments in my NFTY career, and I could never thank you enough for that. We never got our Weasley family picture, but as long as you and I can still be Fred and George, I’ll survive. Much love always. Sara Lynn Levy: Let’s be honest, I’m kind of obsessed with you. Even more honestly, you’re one of the best people I met this year. People certainly underestim ate you, because I’ve seen you be smarter, funnier, and more talented than almost anyone else I’ve ever met. I love you, and it was truly a blessing to be your friend this year. Ethan: Though I was not a member of the Ethan Lang Fan Club at age thirteen, I think I understand even more now why all my friends were obsessed with you. You’re truly just such an amazing guy. You’ve always taken the time to make sure I felt welcomed and loved at every NFTY event. My NFTY experience would have been radically different without you in it, and I’m so glad to call you my friend. Alyssa: You and I have a very unique NFTY bond, but it’s one I cherish each and every day. You’re always so helpful and cheerful that I really can’t believe we haven’t been best friends from the cradle. You remind me all the time why NFTY is so special – because of great people like you. Thanks for always being there with a hug and a smile. Te amo. Jamie: Proud to say I am a better Diva because of you. I’ve even been working on my “Oh, snap!” That’s So Raven face, so you’re welcome! I’d heard about you many months before we actually met, but I am so happy to call you a great friend today. I’ll miss seeing your beautiful face every month next year, but I know you’re going to accomplish great things, so I’m just sending you my love! Jacob Maier: I’m so glad we became such fast friends this year! I love talking to you, and I know you’ll always be there for me for even the little things that go wrong. Good luck with everything next year; I’ll miss having you around all the time! Justin Baris: Not sure I ever properly thanked you for our date, so I suppose I should now! But really, you’re going to be so successful one day, and I’m just glad I can say I knew you before you were famous! Thanks for f antastic conversation and even better looks (me, not you). Austin: I’m actually so sad we weren’t friends for a majority of our NFTY careers. You’ve been a great friend this year, and I’m so glad we’ve had the opportunity to talk and hang out so much, whether it was at West ern Fall or when you were in town for our Spaghetti Dinner. You’re going to be a world-class journalist someday, and I can’t wait for that day to come! Good luck next year, and hopefully I’ll come visit you! Ellie Morosohk: We’ve been married on Facebook for quite a while now, and though our marriage isn’t a particularly talkative one, I’m still so glad I’m married to such a beautiful girl, inside and out! I loved housing with you twice last year. Have a great time chasing your dreams, I can’t wait to see what you can do! Becca Cohen: You’ve been a huge part of my life during my whole NFTY career, and I’m so glad you were always there! Thanks for taking a majority of my profile pictures! You’re going to have a great time at Drake next year, and I’m so excited to see what fantastic things you do with your life! Zach Heiman: You’re going to do such fantastic things for this region next year! You’re really such a friendly and outgoing person that has always made me feel welcome. I’ll miss you! I can’t wait to hear everything about next year! Beth: You’re crazy awesome. You truly understand me and it’s the best. I tell you I have a pantry in my backseat and you don’t bat an eye. Mo and I try to take a creeper picture of you without you knowing and instead you make it a tradition at every eve nt. I love you so much and I’m going to ridiculously miss you next year! Thanks for always taking care of me, and making this a fantastic year.
I cannot stand up here and say that I have completely devoted my life to all things NFTY. I never attended a URJ camp, and like a lot of you here, I haven’t been to every Chavurah since my freshman year, but there is no denying that I love NFTY. My very first high school chavurah, I was excited to begin my youth group career but also nervous about meeting new people. What I found was a very close-knit group of people, which at times was very overwhelming because it seemed like everyone had formed their group of friends, and I was not one of them. I’m saying this because at times, I felt like maybe NFTY was not the place for me; that everyone had found their niche except for me. But, all it took was an upperclassman or two to grab me and involve me in whatever they were doing, and I felt like I belonged. NFTY ended up being a second family to me, and from then on, instant friendships were made and I no longer worried about being excluded. To the underclassman, I know that NFTY can seem scary, but I promise you that there will always be people that you can connect to and don’t feel discouraged if you can’t find your place your first or second chavurah, there are a lot of people in NFTY MV and I know that you will find someone who will become your best friend. To the upperclassmen, always try to get the underclassmen involved. You probably remember when an upperclassmen remembered your name, or asked you to sit with them, and how your heart lit up. Continue to do that to keep NFTY welcoming, and make it a special place for everyone. I’d also like to address the BBYO/NFTY “rivalry.” I am in both youth groups and think they are both great. They are very different and each have their own strengths and weaknesses, but the important thing is that they create an environment for Jewish youth to be involved socially, religiously, and creatively. So stop the hatin’. Seniors:Caleb: You are one of the nicest people I know, and funny on top of that. I love the fact that you can joke around so easily, but, at the same time you are always focused on helping everyone out and leading NFTY MV. Ethan: I can honestly say that you were my very first, and oldest, NFTY friend, outside of the Kansas City Crew. We met at Builda-Bear workshop during our 8th grade JYG, and you said you liked my Red Sox bag, and then we talked a bunch about Boston, and you even introduced me to your mom that weekend. Our family ties and love for Boston carried on throughout our senior year, and I was so excited to hear the news that we both got into Boston University. You are so funny and kind, and it’s been great to see you grow and take on leadership roles through NFTY. Continue to be wicked awesome in Boston next year Sara Lynn: I really wish I would have gotten to know you sooner. I love your attitude, whether its positive or diva-y. You crack me up. I hope the South gives you everything you want and more next year. Austin: Austin I had the pleasure of meeting you twice- once at Jon’s and once at your cousin’s bat mitzvah. I am so glad I got a chance to know you this year and hang out with you every chavurah and probably every time you were in Kansas City Jon: Jon, I have definitely known you the longest of all the RegBo members, since 5th grade. Its been so fun to see you grow up from a goofy, awkward, short 5th grader to a goofy, awkward, and outgoing taller senior. We have shared so many laughs and stories and we have been a part of probably every Jewish event in each others’ lives: sunday school, kesher, bar mitzvahs, confirmation, BBYO, and NFTY. Although we may not be as close as we used to be, I really value our friendship. Becca Cohen: You have such a shining personality and I respect the amount of passion you put into everything you do. Staying with you at JYG was so much fun, and thanks for showing me how to work tumblr and everything. from the tumblr-sphere: DFTBA Jamie: Jamie you are such a funny and outgoing person, and I wish we could have spent more time together since we met, LTI our sophomore year. I will never forget how you opened up to the region at Midwest Mashup, it really made me realize how close of a region we are, how beautiful everyone is, and how much trust everyone has. Hayley: Like Jon, you have been a big part of my Jewish Journey as well. I am so proud of you as president of our youth group, and really respect how well you have handled the responsibility of leading PBnJ. I wish we would have hung out more throughout high school, but I did value all the time we spent together, and hopefully we can get some quality time in over the summer. Libby: Once again like Jon and Hayley, you have been there every step of the way. I also admire the way you stepped up to the plate this semester and took on a ton of responsibility and leadership within PBnJ. I am so glad we got to hang out last week ( with Zoe Weiner when I wrote this.) Congrats on the music program at KSU, and I know you’ll do amazing things. Morissa: You are one of my closest friends in NFTY. I am so happy that I got a chance to know you and become such good friends with you throughout the years. I wish I saw you more, and treasure every moment that we do get to have together. Staying together at JYG was one of my favorite parts of my senior year, and I hope get to see you a ton more over the summer. Hannah Perry: You are also one of my closest, and oldest, NFTY friends, even though, oddly enough, we met at a BBYO convention. You are hilarious, nice, outgoing, smart, motivated, just all together an amazing person. Like Morissa, I wish I saw you more, and better see you this summer. To both of you, thank you so much for giving me an amazing senior year.
Ethan Black: I wish I had the chance to know you better this year. You are so nice and funny, and have great taste in fantasy novels written by authors who kill all their characters, and then get turned into an HBO show. KC:Margo: You are probably one of the funniest people I know. I love how you are so open about everything, and you always know how to make me laugh. Spending time with you on the bus with Jon was a great time..oh the stories..I know you have great ideas for the Kansas City youth groups, and I hope you carry those visions through. Stay large. Scotty: You and I do a lot together, from school, to BBYO, to NFTY, you’re always around. You are also a very funny guy, and again I think you are someone that could become a great leader in BTTY. Hannah: I first met you at BBYO and was shocked to see you at NFTY stuff. Who would have guessed you would become the president of your TYG and run for a regional position. It has been so great to see you grow and take on leadership roles within NFTY. Ian: I feel like you should be my cousin too, since you’re with Ethan so much. You are such a positive and strong person, as well as a gifted artist. Keep on smiling, and I want you to know that I am always here for you. ColoradoHannah Wolf: I am glad to say that you are one of my closest friends in NFTY. You have a great sense of humor, and an even greater love of cats. I’m sad I don’t have more time in NFTY with you, and wish you lived closer so I could see you all the time.I have loved getting to know you these past couple years and hopefully you’re coming to stay with me a couple weeks from now. Shelby: ALthough I don’t know you that well Shelby, I kind of secretly love you. We have a common love of: cats and sloths, the perfect combination for a beautiful friendship. Keep in touch #slothnation Omaha:Abby: You are quite honestly, one of the cutest people I know. You are beautiful inside and out, and have the sexiest man voice when you lose your voice. I could not believe how much you helped out at fall for being a freshman; keep up the great work. Maddie J: You have a shining personality, and always manage to get people involved in whatever activity is going on. Being nice to everyone is a gift that I hope you continue to use. JYG Group: Miranda Rubin, Zach Heiman, Jacob Maier, Emily Kohn: I could not believe how quickly I became friends with all of you. You are all wonderful people, and it is so awesome to see how most of you are taking on leadership within the region. Fall House: Maddie Cohen, Hannah Budwig, Rebecca Leaf, Ali Oksner, Zoe Bonilla: Everyone I stayed with at Fall made me realize how excited I was for my senior year in NFTY and started the year off right. Without staying with such an amazing group of people, I may not have continued to stay involved my senior year. But, you guys rock, and thanks so much for the best Fall ever. Winter House: Ali Oksner, Rebecca Leaf, Libby Levin, Raya : Once again, my housemates made all the difference at a chavurah. Bonding with you guys over a pile of food in Ali’s basement was one of my favorite parts of the weekend. Dream Team: Sam Rheins, Caleb, Zane, Ariel, Hannah, Becca, Ian, Austin: Just like my Fall house, my fall social action group, also known as the Dream Team, made a huge impact on my involvement senior year. I made a ton of new friends that day and really felt that NFTY MV was like a family. Family: Speaking of family, Justin and Ethan. Ethan, I admire your passion for NFTY. Seeing a shy, insecure boy grow up into a confident, outgoing young man has been quite a shock. NFTY has done amazing things for you, and seeing you run for RegBo is the perfect way for you to give back. I love you,and you know that I am always here for you no matter what. Justin: if I thought Ethan’s transformation was a shock, I don’t even know what to call yours. All this time, our family thought you were a meek, shy, and at times awkward boy, but, once I saw you at a NFTY chavurah, it turns out we had it all wrong. At your very first chavurah you were publicly making a fool of yourself making dinosaur noises, and everyone loved it. You instantly made friends, and the “shell” that you once hid behind just disappeared;in its place was a vibrant, outgoing, hilarious young man who could make friends in the blink of an eye. I’m so jealous that you have these next three years ahead of you and I want you to take every opportunity you can get to get involved. Run for board next year for PBnJ, get people from your school to come, you are the next generation of PBnJ. Maybe one day you’ll even run for RegBo. These next 3 years will be such an amazing time for you. I love how close we have gotten the past couple of years, no more fighting and stupid arguments. Now we get along well, and actually enjoy each others’ company. I want you to know how much I love you and that you can call/text/skype/visit me all the time. I’m going to miss you a lot next year, and I know that you will do great things.
Senior Will: Hannah Price The best advice I have ever gotten comes from a great advisor and a great man. “Don’t sweat the petty things, and don’t pet the sweaty things.” Thanks Simi. It’s only fitting that my best advice comes from NFTY, because NFTY has been one of the greatest parts of my high school career. I want to everyone deep meaningful advice. But as you can tell my advice isn’t the deepest; so I will get right down to it. Now as NFTY is coming to an end, I will give away my possessions. First, to Lilly Karsh-Lambardo Ieave tissues because you will be crying the entire time, sprinkles to commemorate the times we have had talking and eating our feelings and finally I leave a box I got in Israel with some shekels in it to help you out when you go to Israel but also because the people on IST made it amazing and you have made my NFTY experience amazing. To Sarah Quiat I leave a pineapple. Bringing pineapples to events has been a tradition for three years now. I leave it to you to remind you to carry on BTY traditions and to be silly. To Noah Clay, I leave a princess crown because you are BTY’s princess. Also, because you should always have a good time even if it means looking stupid. To Natalie Wilson and Hannah Bachmuth I leave CD’s with classic NFTY and Shawayder to remind you of the good times we have had dancing and to always dance like no one is watching. To Noa Solove and Connor Schroder I leave Harry Potter memorabilia to represent the quidditch game that brought our TYGs together and to say thanks for TYG friendship. Keep it strong. To Devin Feigelson I leave an old BTY shirt to remind you how far BTY has come and to keep movin’ forward. When you graduate give it to a BTYer who you think will help BTY thrive. And finally to my little sister, Aliyah, by the time you graduate there will have been a Price in NFTY for 8 years. It’s a tough burden to bare but continue our legacy young one. However I know you hate being called Hannah and Dani’s little sister, so I will you an etch-a-sketch from our childhood to let you make your own pictures (which is my version of your own way in life). But I also leave you a coconut. This was willed to me by Dani in hopes that I could grow my own. But obviously Boobie, it was meant for you. Thanks for everything NFTYites (especially my seniors) it’s been an awesome four years. The only thing left to say is, “Mischief Managed.”
The Last Will and Testament of the NFTY Career of Caleb Jordan Schroder NFTY has changed my life. Plain, simple, and clichéd as can be. And somehow, for such a vague declaration to the movement, the people, and the programming that have helped me to determine everything about me, every single person who has passed through this organization knows exactly what I am talking about when I say, again, “NFTY has changed my life.” In the end, the words on this page mean nothing, but the passion I‟ve shared with so many and the tears that stream freely down my face as I type this sentence contain it all: the love, the laughs, the embraces, and the kisses passed around the circle. I would never be the same without all of the people who have come into my life through the beloved North American Federation of Temple Youth: To The Future of Missouri Valley: Cherish your time in NFTY while you still have it. You can make a difference in the region, in NFTY North America, and in the world of Reform Judaism so hold on to your chance. Tyler A. Whenever I think of a true Missouri Valleyite, one of the first names that come to my mind is yours—mostly because you occasionally drive a tractor around and MV has a shirt with a tractor on the back of it, but still. Actually, I think of your name because I‟ve never met someone as friendly, kind, and just plain fun to be around as you. You‟ll talk to anyone who looks left out and, when having a conversation, it seems like you really listen. That‟s an amazing quality and one that is very rare. As such, I will you a keen ear and watchful eye. Use them to make the community strong. I also will you a car so you don‟t have to drive a tractor anymore. Hannah B. I could write a big, long message to you… or I could just say, “I love you to the moon and back,” and you‟d be crying either way. So, Hannah Bachmuth, I love you to the moon and back. Anna B. Taylor Swift, where has the time gone? It feels like just yesterday I was recruiting you for BCTY Board. That was three years ago and now, you‟re going to be BCTY‟s token senior. Wear the title proudly. To you, I will the BCTY Tribal Jews T-Shirt. Devin F. I knew you were special from the moment I met you. I was blown away by your enthusiasm and excitement. I will to you a lifetime honorary-membership to BCTY and a car in the airport—you‟ve earned them. Maybe you could drive me around that way I don‟t have to walk next time. Sarah G. It was absolutely amazing getting to know you this year and everything you do seems to just scream awesome. In fact, you are so incredible that Maddie Cohen and I want to help others discover how awesome you are… but in a very awkward way. As such, we will to you one half of our awkward dance. The other half is going to Jake Vann. We know you don‟t know him, but that‟s the point. The dance brought Maddie and I, two extremely awkward people, into an incredible friendship. We hope it does the same for you and Jake. Shelby G. I don‟t know why, but a majority of my sarcasm, or what you like to call „sass,‟ has been taken out on you. From the moment I met you, that just seemed to be how we got along: I would insult you, you would say you hate me, but then we would still continue our conversation as if nothing had happened. Rinse and repeat, right? Well as it turns out, no matter how many times I make fun of you (which are mostly entirely truthful comments), you are amazing. I‟ve never known someone who causes me such a mixed set of emotions between love, annoyance, enthusiasm, and indigestion. You are brilliant, and kind, and awkward, and I love you for it. I will to you a stuffed panda bear. It was willed to me as a remembrance of my hugs and I‟m passing it to you in recognition of your incredible embrace and as a token from „your teddy bear.‟ Inside Joke Interlude: Ggghhh-ch, Uh #@*$ you, that one homecoming night, your face, and many more to come. Plus, you know exactly what fogs up my windows so, basically, don‟t ever change. I love you. Zach H. It‟s weird to think that I had my first real conversation with you less than a year before today because I feel like I‟ve known you for so much longer. Thank you for everything this year. You were always my go-to guy when I needed a leader and you never complained. Your passion is inspiring and your potential is through the roof. I can only dream of what you are going to accomplish in NFTY, in life, and in the hearts and minds of others. Yours is a friendship I want to keep forever. Lilly K. Oh, sweetie. I don‟t even know what to say. Yes, that sounds totally clichéd, but it‟s true; I mean, we could always play dead again and that would sum it all up. You‟re just all kinds of awesome wrapped up in an amazing package. I love you so much and I know that you are going to do incredible things in addition to all the amazing you‟ve already brought into the world (yes, I just used amazing as a noun). So I have two things to will you. Firstly, I will you the Missouri Valley „Oh the Places You‟ll Go‟ book from Israel. The title says it all: the sky is the limit for you, darling... except it says it in Hebrew so it‟s cooler. Secondly, to show you how much I love you, I will you my heart—take care of it for me. Sarah K. Coffee Buddy! I can honestly say that my favorite moments I‟ve ever had in an airport I had with you. From yoga on the moving walkways at DIA, to delicious Campfire Mochas from Caribou Coffee, to taking pictures with my pillow on the plane, every moment with you has been hilarious. You have a natural ability to make people feel good about themselves. Thus, rather than me will my side of the coffee-buddy relationship down, I am willing you the responsibility of finding a new partner in crime and cappuccino. Use it as a way to forge a new friendship and to welcome someone like they‟ve never been welcomed before. You‟re as warm and inviting as a cup of coffee in the airport so I know you can do it. I love you so much. Emily K. Ah, Emily, you are just all kinds of fabulous and I have no idea how I got to become friends with such a cool person. I know you are going to do amazing things. Remember that time we discovered that you are Maddie‟s awkward twin? Greatest. Moment. Ever. Also, I will to you all the poles in the world… especially the ones on the trains as DIA. Ellie P. Oh my gosh. Words cannot express how amazing you are! You know just how to make people smile and I love how you go out of your way to make others feel incredible about who they are. Just do you and you will do great things. Noa S. Remember when I used to hate you because you were the most annoying middle-schooler on the face of the planet? Cause I sure do! Now, you are all grown up… almost. And I don‟t hate you… most of the time. Just kidding! You‟re actually amazing. You understand my humor perfectly, you give me just as much grief as I give you, and we share an undeniable love for all things Harry Potter. Even though you are in Slytherin, to you I will my Nimbus 2011 to use at the annual Quidditch event. Be sure to put a bunch of green duct tape on it. You know how much we both love duct tape! Ethan S. Remember when you won me in the senior auction? That was fun… especially when it took me freaking forever to make your hat and scarf. Anyways, you are one of the coolest kids I have ever met—mostly because of your innate ability to just make me laugh. I will you all the best. Jake V. You are all kinds of awesome and I‟ve had an amazing time getting to know you in NFTY. You bring an incredible sense of appreciation and kindness with you to any event and that is something to be celebrated. As such, Maddie Cohen and I would like you to meet someone who we feel would appreciate those same qualities. As such, we will to you one half of our awk ward dance. The other half is going to Sarah Gertz. We know you don‟t know her, but that‟s the point. The dance brought Maddie and I, two extremely awkward people, into an incredible friendship. We hope it does the same for you and Sarah. Adam V. Little Vicksman! What would I have done without you? You helped get me through Andi and David‟s departure and are always there as someone to talk to. Your enthusiasm is incredible and eye-opening to the potential everyone has to opening their hearts and accepting others. To the Present, the Class of 2013: We rocked it. Not only that, but we rocked it as the tightest, coolest, most loving class NFTY has ever seen. I love you all, and this is just the beginning. I can‟t wait to see how we are going to change the world. Justin B. You is kind, you is smart, you is important. That pretty much sums everything up. Justin Bohm, you‟re amazing. Zoe B. Zoe! You‟re in my senior will! “Clearly!” You are absolutely amazing and I can‟t believe I was lucky enough to be friends with you. We totally share the same love for music and we must keep sharing next year—even though we won‟t live in the same state anymore. I love you dearly. Zane F. We will forever be twitter twins because we created our accounts at the same time. More specifically, I created mine about 8 minutes past yours… didn‟t want to cause twitter to much pain with a biological impossibility. I like to think that our handles battled it out inside the twitter-sphere like Jacob and Esau, but who knows? Anyways, you‟re fantastic in every sense of the word and it was truly amazing getting to know you. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 will never be the same thanks to Western Fall last year and I‟m pretty sure you had a part in that. Oh, also, Jeff Bridges. Tha nks for the laughs. Sydney F. Sweet, sweet Sydney. You are the most scrumptious person I have ever met. Why are you scrumptious? Because no other words in the English language could describe how kind, exciting, and lovable you are, all at the same time. Know that you are one of my favorite people ever. Sarah G. Best Friend Forever Forevers (BFFF)! You were the first friend I ever made in NFTY. I can‟t thank you enough for being so naturally wonderful and accepting. Without you, I‟m not sure I ever would have come back to the place I now call home. And without NFTY, who knows what my life would look like. In other words, I am forever indebted to you for opening your arms and showing me the incredible place of love that NFTY-MV can be. Ariel K. Remember when we explored the super sketch ally-way behind that charity building? Dream team! Remember Sloth-ing, Anaconda-ing, Koalaing, Kangaroo-ing? Dream team! Remember painting a white shed white? Dream team! Oh, Ariel, you may not be a little mermaid, but that‟s okay. The Little Mermaid sucks. So you are, like, ten times better that her. Plus I think I‟ve spent more time lying on a sidewalk with you (either because you jumped on me or because we were laughing so hard our legs gave out) than I have with any other person ever. So kudos for that. I love you so much… you are absolutely incredible. Becca L. I do B‟Leaf I love you, Bleaf. So much that I thought of the greatest nick-name ever for you. But actually, I hope it sticks in college. It can take you places. I think you‟re simply incredible and I can‟t wait to see what you do with your future. Libby L. You are just all kinds of amazing and I‟m so glad to have you in my life. You are just so sweet and fun to be around that I can‟t help but smile every time I t hink of your lovely face. I wish you only the best. Morissa M. All I wish for is a time machine so I could go back in time and become close friends with you sooner. I feel deprived of so many amazing memories because we really didn‟t get to know each other until senior year. Nevertheless, the time I have spent with you is some of my greatest. You are a truly amazing person, NFTYite, and friend. Your passion and care never cease to amaze me. Hannah P. Words cannot possibly express how much I love you or how amazing you are. Your attitude is simply incredible and you are positive all the time. Thank you for understanding my humor, giving me grief whenever I deserve it, and giving me support whenever I need it. You always know the right thing to say and do. I love our late-night, long-time Skype calls and hope they continue. Never leave my life, Hannah Perry. You are much too special for me to let you go. I love you with everything worth loving. Rae P. My life is a million times better because you‟re in it. You are one of the sweetest people I think I have ever met—and one of the funniest. I‟m not sure if you realize it, but you have an amazing sense of passive-aggressive humor that I find hilarious. Don‟t ever change because whoever said “nobody‟s perfect,” has yet to meet Rae Pfau. Hannah P. Hannah Price, you are simply brilliant. Mostly because of your intense love of Harry Potter, but I guess there are some other things thrown in there that I also appreciate. For one, your true dedication to NFTY. You show your support not only for BTY, but of other TYGs throughout the region and for all of your friends. Your natural sense of how to be a true friend is inspiring and something to learn from. Sam R. First and foremost, I owe you a huge „thank you‟ for helping me get to where I am in NFTY today. When I was debating whether or not to run for Regional Board, you were a huge support and a great friend to me. You helped show me what I really wanted to accomplish and inspired me to pursue that goal. Thank you for everything. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know you these past few years and I know that you have an amazing journey ahead of you. To the Past, My NFTY Giants: To say „thank you‟ is an understatement. I am who I am because of all of your influence and I feel honored to know all of you. Sam B. Thank you for introducing me to the glory that is twitter. Also, Jeff Bridges! David C. We are both immortal so we will be friends to the end of time. Kim-Jong Coons and Hu Jin-Schroder forever. Thank you for the constant laughter, all the tears of joy, and the countless inside jokes and fond memories ; and thank you for inspiring me to be the best me I can be. Love you! Joey G. You are one strange, large, and hairy child, but you taught me so much about how to always be enthusiastic and to be a constant positive energy. Talia F. Mama Weasley! I love you! Molly J. Darling (with a British accent). You are so fabulous, it‟s unbelievable. Hanna K. Thank you for existing… no, but really. It was always for the purpose of the story line.
Sarah K. I love you so much! You inspire me, daily, to be a better person. Rachel L. Thank you for believing in me. I don‟t know what I would have ever done without you. Becca L. You are a true NFTYite and your passion is undeniable. You will forever be amazing. Dani P. Dance buddy! You are an amazing friend and NFTY never would have been the same without you. Natalie S. You inspired me to run for regional board, encouraged me to do my best, and showed me that I could do it. Thank you for being an amazing predecessor, for all the crazy Oovoo calls, and for plotting with me to prank Beth in the nerdiest way possible (we should have a bi-cameral General Assembly!), and for being there whenever I just needed to talk to someone who understands the stress. You‟re amazing in every sense of the word. Emily T. I remember when you forcibly appointed me to BCTY board the morning of the first meeting. My entire NFTY experience would never have happened without you pushing me out of my comfort zone. Thank you for making me feel uncomfortable… that sounded more awkward that I thought it would. Anyways, I owe it all to you, so thank you. Andi V. Remember when I forgot to put you in my senior will? Oh wait… I didn‟t. I love you! Thanks for letting David and I harass you! Ellie W. You‟re simply incredible—and a total spaz. But I love you for both reasons equally. Thank you for showing me how to have fun, no matter the circumstances. To the Advisors: NFTY Missouri Valley would never be the same without all of the commitment each one of you gives to the region and to its youth. Thank you for everything you‟ve provided for all of Missouri Valley and for me. Simi A. Simi! Thank you for just being naturally awesome. BTY has been extremely lucky to have you and I consider myself lucky to have been able to meet you. Aaron B. I have to say, it‟s great when you forget you work with teenagers… that‟s usually when you say the best things. Thanks for all the laughs and the amazing support. Carly C. I‟m so glad to have had you as an advisor in the region during my senior year. You‟ve done an incredible job and I know you will continue to do so. Your ability for working with teens is incomparable. Thank you for the great talking time and for all the hilarious moments… like that time at JYG when you „moistly penetrated‟ the dance floor with your sick moves. You‟re amazing! Beth L. Over the past year, I‟ve come to the conclusion that your favorite word is fabulous. I‟ve decided this for two reasons: 1) You say it all the time; and 2) It‟s how you make everyone around you feel. But, for someone who brings so much fabulous into the world, I don‟t think we‟ve taken enough time to recognize how fabulous you yourself are. You are the perfect advisor and my best adult friend. I know how difficult it is working with someone as freaky as I am, but you managed to do it with style and grace. You kept me sane, remained the voice of reason, and pushed me to do my best. This past year has been my best in NFTY and I have you to thank for a large part of that. So thank you for everything from the bottom of my heart. There is so much more I wish I could say, but I just don‟t know how. So I suppose, to sum it all up, I‟ll just say this: Missouri Valley has found a perfect match. Stephanie R. What would I have done without you this year? You always know just how to keep me sane and on my toes. You also have a natural talent to understand exactly how people feel without even having to ask. Thanks a million for allowing me to vent my frustrations and just talk things out with you. Missouri Valley could never be the same without all the love you give. Lee R. Missouri Valley and I owe you big time for all of the help you have given and continue to give. The work you do with all of your teens is among the best in the region and it‟s clear that you not only do your job well, but you work with a passion and care that is hard to match. Thank you for everything. To My Youth Group: For four years BCTY has been my home. It‟s the TYG that greeted me with open arms in the beginning, and is the one saying goodbye in the end. In it, I was able to foster my own leadership and become the person I think I was meant to be. I can never thank anyone who has worked, is working, or will work with B‟nai Chaim Temple Youth enough. Who knows what the future will hold? To the Presidents Network: You have all made my time as Regional President that much more amazing. In fact, you made my job easier based simply on the fact that you all did incredible. I loved speaking with each of you throughout the year and watching all of your outstanding work. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for crafting your TYGs to be the best they could be this year. It truly makes our region special. To Regional Cabinet: I can never thank all of you enough for your endless work and passion this year. It has been incredible to work with you and to have become better friends than I ever could have hoped. Each and every one of you deserves the very best and I hope you find such a thing. Maddie C. Well this is it. I can‟t believe that 4 years ago, we awkwardly met at a Spring Chavurah social, busted a sick move, and became best friends. From you constantly flipping me (and others) off, to you „forgetting/the airport losing‟ your guitar at Western Fall, it has been absolutely incredible spending time with you. I know you are going to do incredible things and will find happiness and success in whatever you do. I wish I could take you to college with me so you could sing me to sleep every night. Is that awkward? Good… because apparently that‟s what we do best. I love you with all my soul. Justin B. You are one of the strangest, but completely lovable people I have ever met. Our humor seemed to click from the start and I‟m still not sure why. Perhaps it‟s that fact that we were so different that we just made each other extremely uncomfortable and laughing was our only way out? Whatever the reason, I‟m glad it happened. I couldn‟t ask for a better, more encouraging friend. Becca C. London Leaky Con is happening. It may not be this year, or next year, but it will happen. Gonna tear it up, Starkid style. Thank you for sharing a love for AVPM and all things Starkid with me. It was amazing to have a NFTY friend who understands. Ian S. I cannot thank you enough for your dedication and enthusiasm for NFTY. It‟s infectious and admirable to see someone so in love with our region. I remember staying at your house during my first event freshman year and I most certainly owe a great deal of my NFTY journey to you for providing such a wonderful housing experience. Thank you for everything. Alyssa G. Plainly stated, you are one of the most incredible people I have ever known. The amount of love and respect I have for you is astronomical. I simply cannot express how amazed I am with your endless care, bottomless compassion, and incredible sense of friendship. Somehow, you always manage to make your thoughts and actions about helping other people. It‟s nothing short of magnificent. Never change, and never leave my life. I love you to the ends of the earth and back. To Regional Board: One year ago, we were beginning our Regional Board Journeys together in a mix of anxiousness and excitement. Now, one year later, I look back on this year as one of the greatest experiences I have ever had… and I owe it to all of you. You‟re all some of my best friends and are one of the few groups of people who I feel truly understands me. Thank you for accepting me, working with me and my many faults, and for sharing this amazing experience wit h me. Not seeing you all every few weeks next year is going to be unimaginably difficult, but something tells me that we have a lifetime of friendship ahead of us. I couldn‟t have asked for a better Regional Board. We did it, and we did it together, but words could never express the love I have for all of you. Austin D. So it sure is a good thing I didn‟t forget you in my senior will! Just kidding. Truth is, you are unforgettable. Your passion for CR is beyond belief and I can never thank you enough for your steadfast friendship. It‟s amazing to work with you and I‟m astounded by the fact that you always seem to make the right decisions and by the integrity with which you stand up for what you believe in. It truly is inspiring. Thank you for everything this year. Hannah W. I cannot express how excited I am to see what your future holds, both next year in NFTY and beyond. This whole year you were always someone I could count on for a response, an opinion, a laugh, or a friend. Writing programs with you over Skype created some of the funniest moments I‟ve ever had sitting at a computer. Good thing there were thirteen hours of Skyping! I will forever feel honored to have been your first NFTY friend. It‟s a title I wear with pride because of the amazing person you have become. I hope you will always be in my life. Jon F. There are a lot of things I could say to you, Jonathan London Fry. What the actual… truth… is, however, is that most of them would be removed for being inappropriate. So instead, I‟ll say what very few positive things I have to say. Of anyone on board, you kept me on my toes the most and forced me to constantly question my life-choices, writing the NFTY-NAR Spring Kallah Programming Coordinator application with you is amongst my favorite things I‟ve ever done, and you are simply hilarious. No matter the sarcasm you throw around, I know that I can always count on you as a true friend. Thank you for everything. Sara Lynn L. I still can‟t believe that one year ago, we didn‟t know each other. It feels like I‟ve known you for years. Perhaps it‟s because every agonizing moment with you feels like an eternity, or maybe it‟s because you are just too incredible for me to comprehend. Either way, I almost died while riding in your car…twice. The work you‟ve done this year was amazing and I couldn‟t be happier with how we worked toget her. Thank you for the laughs and the amazing friendship that has a lifetime to come. Miranda S. I tried to write this in palm-tree colored ink, but it wouldn‟t print in anything but black. Oh well, here it is: Thank you for being an incredibly hard worker and for demonstrating an incomparable love for MV. I wish I could say that we aren‟t moving, but I thi nk we finally are this time. You‟re going to go to some truly amazing places. You were always a constant source of comic relief for the board whether you were trying to or not (i.e. Making potato jokes vs. Counting your snorts) and I can never thank you enough for being, quite simply, an amazing friend. If you‟re reading this in the morning, you‟re probably going to the bathroom (#wetsiler), but that‟s okay. However gross it is, I‟ll love you forever regardless. Jackie H. I remember when we met at Spring our freshman year. I was super awkward, and you were totally socially outgoing, and we exchanged about twenty words and moved on. But I remembered you because you were so insanely nice and upbeat. The amazing thi ng is that you still are. Not only that, but you have a true passion about caring for other people and for the world. I can honestly say that knowing you has been one of the many highlights of my life and that I would be devastated if our friendship did not continue for years to come. You have a natural talent for knowing exactly what someone needs to hear to make him feel better. Always remember how incredible you are and you can make any of your dreams into realities. I know that you are going to change the world. Ethan L. For once, I‟m lost for words. There is no way I can possibly explain the mix of appreciation, pride, and love I have for, not only the work you did this year, but for the simple joy of calling you a friend. Thank you for always being reliable and for pushing me to be my best. I can only imagine the incredible things you are going to go on and accomplish. The impact you‟ve made on Missouri Valley and me will last for years, if not decades, and I hope that ours is a friendship that only grows from here. I‟m really going to miss you next year. Where will I be without someone pointing out my stupid mistakes and laughing them off with me? While I don‟t know the answer to that, I know that your friendship is one that is irreplaceable and I am unbelievably happy to have you as a part of my life. To All of NFTY: So I guess this is it. Who would‟ve thought that the dorky freshman that I was four years ago would be standing here now, a little older, perhaps wiser, equally dorky, but with a lot more friends and a lot more to live for. It‟s been said so many times before, but I suppose the only thing I can say is thank you. Thank you for teaching me about myself and others. Thank you for showing me the potential I have within me to make a difference. And thank you for giving me t he skills I need to go out and change in the world. As my NFTY journey comes to a close, and my 18th and final NFTY event reaches its end, I can say that NFTY has literally been my chai (life), but I can never repay you for what you have given me: confidence in who I am. I wish I could write volumes about everyone I have had the pleasure to meet, but alas, my pages are limited. That said, I would like to impart what NFTY has taught me to anyone who will lend a caring ear. The greatest thing I have learned from my journey is this: Keep your mind open to the possibilities, keep your eyes open to the best in everyone, keep your heart open to the world, and love will find its way in. B‟Shalom V‟Ahavah. Forever and Always, Caleb Jordan Schroder
REBECCA SCHWARTZBERG’S SENIOR WILL Dearest NFTY Missouri Valley, Oh. My. Goodness. I can not believe I’m sitting here writing this. To be entirely cliché and say something none of you have ever heard said before ever, I never actually thought this day would come. But it has, so here we go. The lucky ones who are not graduating: Miranda Rubin & Michelle Bennett – You girls light up my life. I love your craziness and your great attitudes and pretty everything about you. You’re both outstanding songleaders, too! Being able to watch you guys in your final summer as campers this year was so wonderful and I know the two of you are going to go on to do incredible things for GUCI, SETYG, and MV in general. Keep me in the loop with the fantastic things you’re both doing. I love you! Shelby Ginsburg – Daughterrrrr!!!! We have had sooo many good times! From fourth grade to now we’ve both changed a lot but I’m glad we’ve kept our friendship :) You’re a great PVP and I know you’re going to do great things for TSYG and MV next year! Keep it up! Emily Kohn, Madeline Hope, Arin Simon, and Adam Vicksman – Keep up the fantastic job you’re doing! TSYG is so lucky to have you; I can’t wait to see what amazing things you all accomplish before you graduate! Margo Hellman – I feel like I’ve known you forever! I can’t believe how old you are or how tall you are or that you’re really old enough to be in NFTY at all! But with that set aside, I love seeing you at events and being at camp with you again this summer was great. Keep up your general awesomeness and please keep me in the loop with what’s happening in your life! I love you! Sarah Keller – Even though we’ve both been crazy busy this year and I’ve only seen you like once (big problem here), you’re one of my best friends. I love our crazy songleading/TMG adventures and I’m so proud of everything you’ve accomplished thus far (Union Street Jazz as a junior - YAY!) and I can’t wait to see what else you knock out! My lovely seniors: Maddie Cohen – oh lord, here we go. You’re my best friend in the entire world. I’ve loved you forever, except for those years where we hated each other in preschool (thank god for Ross and Jacob for snapping us out of that). But seriously, we’ve been so close for so long and even though we’ve definitely had our ups and downs (often ending in “aw, you guys are cute! Like cats!”), I actually have no idea how to live without you in my life. I’m so proud of everything you do and I love you to pieces:) Zoe Bonilla – We’ve also been crazy close for a crazy long time and you’re one of my best friends! I love shopping with you (last year’s prom shoes and the general craziness of all of that) and just hanging out with you because you’re so much fun to have around. I love you! Hannah Perry – oh gosh. We met because like 698799 people introduced us saying “you guys are so similar!” and sure enough we became twinsies from the start to the point you were in my phone as “Twinsie” for quite some time. I love our totally nerdy RC moments and every time I praise HaShem because you actually understand me when I freak out over services and Torah study and all that good stuff. I love you, twinsie! Caleb Schroder – we’ve had some crazy times over the years, to say the least. I could list so, so, SO many, but I don’t want to bore the general public so you can find me and we can reminisce :) Actually though, I’m so glad we’ve become friends again because I miss you in my life. I’m so ridiculously proud of everything you’ve done for this region and for BCTY. You’re an incredible leader and I know you’ll continue to do great things. Keep being you:) Rachel Houser – remember when we used to pretend to be friends? I’m glad we actually are now. Seriously though, you’re so great and I love you to pieces. I’m so glad we did Avodah together. I don’t know what I’d do without you. You’re going great places and I can’t wait to see exactly where:) Becca Cohen – my twin, my life, my other half!!! I adore you. You’re so spunky and wonderful and all around fabulous, I’m proud to share a name with you!
My darling NFTY Giants: Beth Lipschutz – Ohh, Beth. First of all, you’re incredible and amazing and beautiful and outstanding and all other good adjectives you can think of. I would never have survived all the craziness of JYG last year without you! I loved spending that Shabbat with you at GUCI, too(: You’re the absolute best, thank you for always being there to listen, to talk, to bounce ideas around, and everything else you do so well:) P.S. The new rule is that we HAVE to get coffee before I graduate! David Coons – To be entirely honest, I probably would not have been half as motivated to join TSYG and do NFTY without you. I can remember oh-so-many weekends when I was in middle school when you would hop on a plane and fly off to a NFTY event and I would wish more than anything I could go too. I know we’re not as close as we used to be, but I still thank you more than anyone for getting me involved, for kidnapping me to rush in eighth grade and for being my best friend for so many years. I miss you. Molly Goldberg – The first words you ever spoke to me were during my eighth grade JYG when RegBo was teaching the cheer to all of the middle school kids. You said, “Your hair is so curly! Like mine; I love it!” Then you were my cabin mommy at ‘Tute the next summer and a beautiful friendship began:) You made me promise to go to Convention as many times as I could (which I did) and we had many conversations about the best way to go about running for RegBo, or even if Regbo was the best thing for me to do. Either way, thank you for all of your advice and for being a great friend! Carly Coons – Carrr! Ohhhh my gosh. From teaching me how to play a NFTY Havdallah when I was in eighth grade to emergency ice cream and chick flicks (which turned into action movies…?) last President’s Day weekend to hoarding crazy JYG kids all over Denver, we’ve had some crazy times. But for real, you’re so much a part of why I wanted to do TSYG when I was young and then NFTY as I got older. As a kid, you were always one of the high schoolers I looked up to the most and now you’re my advisor:) thank you for all of your advice and help over the years:) I love you! Carolan Glatstein – I hesitated a lot about whether or not to put you in here because our relationship goes sooooo far beyond NFTY, but you were my JYG advisor and you babysat me while in NFTY, so why not. But I’ll be brief:) thank you for all you have ever inspired me, all of your advice, all of your love, friendship, and big sister-ness. You have served as my rock on so many occasions; you keep my feet grounded but help my dreams soar. Your help on oh-so-many Religious and Cultural-y things is so appreciated. I have no idea what I would do without you. I love you, sheepy sister:) The future of TSYG and MV: Jacob Schwartzberg – Little brother, you’re just starting out on this incredible, twisty, crazy journey, and in some ways I envy you for that. So many of the people listed above and so many more to come are going to become your new best friends. I hope you’ll find the home that I have found in Missouri Valley. Use Missouri Valley as a way to stay connected to your Judaism, your friends, your virtual family, and me. Don’t forget that Dad did “MoFTY” too, and Mom just generally gets it. Let Missouri Valley be a huge part of your high school experience. These people will be your best friends for life. Learn from your NFTY Giants, but also those younger than you- you’ve taught me that sometimes they’re pretty smart. Jacob, I will you (because this is a will and I actually have to will something) one of my old board sweatshirts (your choice) and the ability to be known as Jacob Schwartzberg, not “Becca Schwartzberg’s Little Brother.” You’re going to great things for TSYG and for this region, kiddo. I can’t wait to see what they are. I love you, bud:) All of Missouri Valley in general – Thank you all for providing me with a home away from home that never stays in one place. I adore each and every one of you simply for what we’ve created together on so many occasions. If you ever want to talk, I’m just one phone call/skype call/text/facebook message away and I’d be glad just to say hi:) B’Shalom v’Ahavah, Rebecca Schwartzberg
The Last Will and Testament of Miranda Louise Siler NFTY Giants To the NFTY Giants, you all have helped me to become the person and leader I am today. Unfortunately, there is not enough room to truly express how much you mean to me. In lieu of being impersonal however, I have decided to share a one (maybe two) word summary of what I’ve learned from you, a memory, etc. Thank you for wisdom, guidance, and most importantly, friendship. Also, hopefully by the time you’re reading this, the Hatikvah amendment has been passed and I want to thank you for making that a thing. Omaha Zane Fletcher: Zaneypoo, I seriously love you so much. I’m so happy that we’re friends. We better stay in touch next year or I’ll cry. You will always be the Harry to my Ginny <3 Hannah Perry: Hannah, you are literally a shorter version of me and I’ll love you until the end of time. Thanks for being such an amazing friend! P.S. Hopefully we’ll actually get that ginger picture taken. Morissa Miller: Mo, we didn’t really bond until this year but I’m so happy that we did. I’m so happy that we got to spend so much time and glasses of iced coffee together. Love you! Ariel Kohl: Ariel, you are a beautiful person in every sense of the word and I’m always happy whenever I’m around you. Thanks for an amazing four years! I hope you have an amazing time in college! Maddie Jensen: You have the most beautiful smile. Always show it off! Kansas City Rae Pfau: Rae, you are just beyond cool. You know how to make everyone around you comfortable but are also lots of fun. Thanks for being so awesome! Justin Pfau: The minute you said that the velociraptor was your favorite dinosaur, I knew I liked you. The minute you pretended to be a velociraptor, I knew that you were the perfect addition to Missouri Valley. Rock on! Ian Roozrokh and Ethan Stone: You two are the sunshine of Missouri Valley. You always know how to brighten people’s days with your gorgeous smiles. Thanks for being awesome! Hannah Bachmuth: You are such a great leader and I know that you will go far in your NFTY career! Margo Hellman: Margo, you are a really fun person and I was very impressed with how you got the kids involved at JYG. I predict that you will do great things in the rest of your NFTY career. Daniel Hakan: Daniel, you are one of the sweetest people I know. You have a way of connecting with everyone you meet that is truly special. I saw this especially at Camp Rainbow and I will you the water bottle for this reason. Use it well. Every small town in Illinois Raya Seidman: You are absolutely adorable. Thanks for bringing SPRIFTY to our region! Genie Melamed and Zoe Radwine: When we went to Chili’s that one time, you two helped confirm that SPRIFTY would have an awesome place in MV. I’m so happy that you guys joined our community. Abby Manaster: Abby, you have done some great things with CUTY (latkes anyone?) and I’m so happy that you were in my network! Zippy Goldenfeld: It’s been a pleasure having CUTY in our region and I’m so glad to have met you! Emma Sarfity and Ashley Eggert: You two did an amazing job with SLIID Fall! Mazel Tov and keep up the good work! Daniel Bidleman: Daniel, I am writing about you in my Senior Will. Leah Edwards-Blinderman: You are so sweet and I was really glad when I saw that you won my Senior Auction thing. I’ll miss you! St. Louis Tyler Andreasson: Ty, you are such a great leader and friend. It has been so much fun getting to know you these past few years and I am so excited to see where you will end up in the future. Andy Cohen: Though we don’t agree on much, I’m happy that we can still get along, mostly through humor. Thanks for always being there to lighten the mood! Michelle Stone: You are so sweet and kind. Always stay just as you are! Sydney Fontaine: You have such a wonderful bubbly personality and instantly make everyone around you happy. I’m so glad that I met you and can’t wait to hear about all of the cool stuff you do in the future. Jacob Maier: It has been awesome to see all of the cool stuff you’ve done with CERTY this year. Keep it up! Zach Heiman: What a wonderful person you are. You are also such an amazing leader and I know that MV will thrive next year with you in charge. Stay classy! Jeremy Levy: Jeremy, it is still hard not to think of you as the little kid who couldn’t say my name, but in all seriousness, you’ve done a great job this year, especially with JYG, and I’m so happy that you were in my network! Jamie Nachman: JNasty, you are so funny and I’ve loved every minute of NFTY that I’ve spent with you. Have a great time at Indiana! SETYG Nicolette Taber: Nico, you are one of my first friends and I am so happy that our friendship has continued into NFTY. You are so hilarious and sweet and I know that you will have an amazing time in college. I wish you many random and sketchy encounters with people like Jack Marcus. Emily Goldman: Emily, there is so much I could say about our friendship beyond the scope of NFTY but unfortunately there is simply not enough room. So let me say this: you are an amazing friend who is always there for me and I promise always to be there for you too. I know that we will keep in touch for years to come, so this isn’t really goodbye. I love you and can’t wait to be with you all summer! Ellie Pinto: Ellie, I am so proud of all of the work you’ve done this year and am delighted that you are my successor. You are so earnest in everything you do and MV is lucky to have you leading the region. If I’ve learned one this this year, it’s “don’t stress.” I know that might be hard but I promise you that it will all work out in the end. In other words, concentrate on what you enjoy most, because before you know it, you’ll be crying at your computer writing your Senior Will. Jordyn Miller: Jordy, it’s been so much fun seeing another redhead RC in SETYG and you have done an amazing job. You are so funny and sweet and I can’t wait to work with you this summer! Sam Shabsin: Sammy, you have done an amazing job as MVP this year and I can’t wait to see what else you will do in the future. I will you all of the Piña Colada Starbursts in the world! Benjamin Pomerantz: Ben, please tell your mother not to worry about you because you are wonderful! You are super funny and nice and have an amazing talent for catching food in your mouth. It will take you far. David Thal: David, you are the potato to my tomato… or
something like that. You are one of the funniest people I know and I wish for the rest of your NFTY and high school career to be filled with European club music! Molly Thal: Molly, one of my favorite quotes from you happened at winter this year regarding your clothing choices at chavurahs: “The first day, I like to look nice; the second day, I attract the nerds.” You are so funny and I hope we’ll have lots more to nerd out about in the future. DFTBA! Michelle Bennett: Michelle, you are absolutely hilarious! It has been so much fun seeing all of the awesome programming that you and Molly have done although I don’t appreciate my hair always being on the scavenger hunt list (Molly, if you’re reading this, this applies to you too.) I hope you have a wonderful time on EIE next year and bring back a whole bunch of awesome to Missouri Valley! Alyson Yawitz: Alyson, you are so passionate and creative, it’s crazy! I’ve loved seeing the work you’ve done for SETYG and I can’t wait to see what else you accomplish! With your big smile and spunky attitude, you will go far! Miranda Rubin: Lil’ Miranda, thanks for being a wonderful compliment to my Big Miranda. Also thanks for being a great person. Also thanks (more specifically) for your help at JYG. I can’t wait to see all of the awesome things you accomplish in the years ahead! Rachel Houser: I’m so happy that you became involved with SETYG and NFTY! You are so much fun and I hope you have the best time at Bradley next year! Justin Bohm: Gurl, I couldn’t have picked a better successor to be the president of SETYG. The board has done a really amazing job this year. I hope you have a wonderful time in Florida and that your life is filled with rainbows and ponies and homosexual hairdos! See you at my brother’s Bar Mitzvah ;) Samantha Thal: Samantha, thanks for being there for me to freak out about Harry Potter with. Also, thanks for just being a great person! Shana Sterling Waldman: You are so passionate about what you believe in, it’s incredible. Thanks for being an inspiration and I can’t wait to work with you on SERC! Ellie Morosohk: Ellie, thanks for being mah main creepahhhh. It’s been great having you in SETYG. Keep in touch because I love you much! Shira Morosohk: It’s been a pleasure being with you at SETYG and Post-Con. Also, you did an amazing job at Winter last year. I hope you enjoy your Senior year! Jacob Goldblum: You are crazy hilarious! Stay that way! Sarah Goldblum, Raven Bierman, Elyssa Houser, Evan Pierce, and Avi Levine: You guys are the future of SETYG and of NFTY. You’ve all been phenomenally involved and excited this year and I know that NFTY will thrive under your leadership in the years to come. Keep smiling, keep laughing, and Never Forget These Years. They will be your best. Cabinet Becca Cohen: Becca, you have done a great job this year with all of your fundraisers! I know that you will be wildly successful with your creativity next year at Drake. Thanks for a great four years! Ian Staples: Ian, you are awesome and have done an amazing job this year. I hope that you spread that gonorruach far and wide next year in college! Alyssa Guller: Alyssa, you are such an amazing leader and I am so happy that I’ve gotten to know you well through Israel, the presidential network, and of course, this year as well. You worked so hard on JYG and it was a huge success! I hope that we stay in touch next year because I want to hear all about the awesome things you will do! Justin Baris: Remember that one time you told Devon untrue things about me? Remember that other time, when you pointed out a oneeyed cat in a trashcan to me? Good news is, I still like you. Thanks for being a fun and engaging songleader and all of the other wonderful things you do. Keep in touch! Maddie Cohen: Maddie, you have been a lifesaver this year. You are truly amazing in every way. Thank you for everything and keep in touch! Regional Board Caleb Schroder: Oh, Caleb. How to begin. You have done an amazing job leading the region this year and also representing MV on the North American level. Our board wouldn’t have done half of the awesome things we did if it hadn’t been for your ability to both have a lot of fun, but reign us in when we got a little too silly. You also just happen to be a great friend and person all around. I hope you have the best time at CSU next year! Love you bunches! Sara Lynn Levy: Who would have thought, when we met 13 years ago, that we would have been on Regional Board together? Certainly not me considering I probably didn’t know what NFTY was and you weren’t Reform. Funny how things turn out huh? I am so happy that we have been able to reconnect through NFTY. I also want to say that you have done an AMAZING job as MVP this year and we have several new youth groups because of you. Thanks for a great year and I want to hear all about your college life so don’t be a stranger! Love you! Jon Fry: Jonathan London Fry, you are seriously one of the funniest people I know and your ridiculousness will take you far I’m sure. That being said, I want to declare once and for all that it is totally normal to poop in the morning and shower at night, and I will always stick by that rule. I hope that we can just agree to disagree and move on with our lives. Now that that’s out of the way, I’ve had so much fun being with you on board and if we don’t keep in touch next year, I might just cry. Love you #SoggyFry. Hannah Wolf: HANNAH MY SPOONYBEAR! Ah girl I love you so much, I can barely contain myself. You can do whatever you set your mind on and I can’t wait to hear about all of the wonderful things that you accomplish next year. You are just so amazingly brilliant and funny and stunning. If we don’t keep in touch next year I will hunt you down and crawl into bed with you in the most uncreepy way possible. I love you! Austin Dubinsky: Remember when I only knew you as Rebecca’s ex? Well I’m glad that we’ve gotten past that point. You are such an awesome person and your passion for Camp Rainbow cannot be matched. You will also always hold a special place in my heart as the person with whom I rode a camel with in Israel. I’m so glad we got to be on board together and I wish you much success at Mizzou next year! Ethan Lang: It was the summer before Freshman year. I had gone down to Camp Emeth for lunch to say hi to people when suddenly someone hugs me from behind. I look up and think, “Oh it’s that Ethan Lang kid. That’s cool I guess.” Think about how far we’ve come. Now if you tried to do that to me I’d struggle as much as possible to get out while you laugh maniacally in my ear. But in all seriousness, in four years you’ve become one of my best friends and although we can drive each other crazy, I wouldn’t have it any other way. In short, I love you bro. Jackie Heymann: Oh Jackie. What can I even say that would fully describe how much you mean to me? You are my best friend and I can’t imagine these last four years without you in them. You are always there for me whether it be to rant, bake, laugh, or even take a nap on your couch. I know that our friendship will last through college and beyond and I can’t wait to see where we both end up. You are one of the most passionate and thoughtful people I know and I am so thankful that I have been able to learn so much about myself and the world, just from being around you. You are the cake to my ballz and I love you to the moon and back. Advisors Beth Lipschutz: Beth. How do I even begin? You are the most wonderful person in every single way. You know how to solve any problem, will listen to any rant, and laugh at any joke. I’m so happy that I got to work with you this year and I hope that next year’s Regional Board will have just as much fun with you as we did. I honestly don’t know what else to say except I love you, and thanks for being an amazing advisor and friend. Becky Lyle: About two years ago, Jodi told me that unfortunately, she could not find a male advisor. I was really anxious. She then told me that she found the next best thing, and boy was she right. You have been amazing for SETYG in terms of leadership and organization, but you are also super fun. Thanks for helping make my year as President a good one, and for having such a good humor about everything. Also thanks for burping enough to keep the male participants around. Danny Todtfeld: Danny, although you were with us for a short time, you have made a lasting impact on me and SETYG. I will never forget your wisdom about sharing milk or the atrocities of public restrooms. Thanks for being such a great advisor; PB&J is lucky to have you. Nicolas Craynon: Nick, you are the reason that I really got involved in NFTY in the first place. I give credit to you and Beyonce for helping me get out of my awkward-just-left-middle-school shell and blossom into the confident young lady I am today. I’ll never forget the night when you told us you were moving, and we got into your car, belted Dream Girls, and bawled all the way home. That being said, I’m so happy that we’re still in touch and I wish all of the overpriced caramel apples in the world! I love you so much and am so thankful to have had you as an advisor. Jodi Miller: Jodi, I honestly don’t know where to start. You’ve guided my Jewish life for so many years now from Camp Emeth to NFTY to beyond. You have helped make Shaare Emeth my second home, as well as sparking my interest in Judaism beyond the synagogue walls. You make learning fun and foster community. I can talk to you about literally anything, whether it be a rant, or a great new idea that’s still in the process of forming. In short, you’ve inspired my Jewish journey in so many ways that any amount of thanks I could give wouldn’t be enough. So for the lack of better words, thank you, I love you, and I can’t wait to spend all summer together. To NFTY Missouri Valley Thank you for the most incredible four years of my life. Our community is one of the most important that I’ve ever belonged to. You have helped me to grow and find more about myself than I ever could have imagined. At the beginning of last summer, the regional board introduced our region to the rest of North America by proudly proclaiming that “the love is in Missouri Valley.” This could not be more true; at all moments, love is all around. NFTY is a powerful thing. I truly believe that our youth movement can change the world. To those who are still continuing their NFTY journeys, keep fighting, appreciate every moment, and carry the warmth the Missouri Valley provides with you always; I know that I will. Thank you. I love you. Gonna live and die N-F-T-Y!
Senior Will: Claire Solomon Being in NFTY-MO Valley has made high school probably the best four years. If it weren’t for my big sister Liz (many of you have probably heard or knew her), I probably wouldn’t have started going to NFTY Chavurah. I have A LOT of people to thank and a few to will: The first is NFTY-MO Valley. Not only has NFTY helped me become more confident, but has also helped my friendship circle grow. Even though I love every minute of every event I hate the “goodbyes” Please don’t be mad if I forgot to mention your name The second is my small yet incredible youth group, TIFTY. Michelle Stone - I am willing you the ability to keep being an amazing friend and leader. Stephanie Rhea- thank you for being the most amazing youth group advisor! Aron Tolin - this might sound weird, but thanks for working at the Magic House (so that I have someone who I can talk about how awesome the Magic House is!). I also want to thank Hammy Sorkin - for just being simply AMAZING! Someone else who I am going to miss very much is Maddie Crabble. She reminds me of one of my other friends (Sarah Strauss who is in college), because of how fast we became friends. The next three people are Andy Cohen, Tyler Andreasson and Alex Jacks. Thank you for always keeping youth group events energetic. Reg-Bo- all of you are amazing, thank you for making every event AMAZING!!!! You are a group of people who help make Chavurah so much fun! I want to thank each Youth Group for hosts Chavurah. Jackie Heymann and Miranda Siler Thank you so much for helping to make everybody feel included. Austin Dubinsky, if your goal is to make people want to volunteer at Camp Rainbow (it worked) even though I can’t this summer I DEFINITELY want to be a counselor the following summer! Jonah Pregulman let me just start off by saying you are VERY talented, from playing the guitar, to fixing the projector at events and taking pictures, but also for being a great friend! Lee Goodman Can I just say whenever Stephanie needs pictures taken, website updated etc. the pictures are clear and taken from different angles (p.s sorry if that sounds SUPER weird or even awkward) Caleb Schroder- all I can say is you make and GREAT president! Becca Cohen you always have so much energy (that’s a good thing). While I was writing this I started thinking back to my first Chavurah I thought “Wow I can’t believe that my first and now my last Chavurah have both been hosted at my temple. At the last Chavurah when we sang the song “Leaving On A Jet Plane” that is when it hit me- I only have ONE chavurah LEFT. But to me NFTY is more than just 200+ Jewish teens from PEORIA TO DENVER we are the very best.... Isn’t any party like a Midwest party cause the party doesn’t stop? To me it’s like a second family or like
seeing all of my high school friends 3 times a year for 3-4 days. Each winter chavurah I always look forward to the SLIID vs. Western Basketball game… hopefully sliid wins next year. But I have had an AMAZING time meeting new people and making new friends, every time I go to events. As I said before I absolutely hate “goodbye.” I think Ill like this “goodbye” least of all. As I think about the word “goodbye” I feel like it is just a “see you later or see you soon”. The truth is I might be ready to be done with high school I’m not done with NFTY. Even when I leave NFTY physically…. I now have a special place in my heart for NFTY (and victor). To wrap this up all I can say I couldn’t say all the things and people I am going to miss at chavurah. Nfty is the reason I like being a Jewish teenager! Unfortunately I can’t say everything I love about NFTY because I simply love everything. But I guess this is a time to say my least favorite word, so I’ll just say “see you later” I try forget your sorrows breath in the moment live in the now there’s so much laughter to be found-love all around. Senior wills are like kicking of the shoes at song circle we will always have a foot in NFTY. I will miss everyone and everything very much! But I will live and die N-F-T-Y.
Senior Will: Ian Staples Ethan- I’ve known you for about two and half years now, and I can easily say you are one of my best friends. You taught me the value of having friendship and humor in life, along with teaching me the mechanics of throwing a perfect hammer. Whether it be rooming together from the coast of California to Times Square in New York, or simply playing Golden Eye or Katan in your basement, it’s always a good time. You’re always someone I can rely on and I know that everyone will go out of their way to be close to you in the many years to come. No matter where you end up, I always want you to remember…. Zim Zalabim. Ali- I can’t tell you how much you mean to me. You are one of my closest friends and I know that I can tell you anything. Whether I am whining about my girl problems or looking for a Yogurt Guru one, I know you are gonna be there for me. I can hang out with you for hours on end and we always have something to talk about and laugh about. Whether I am living downtown or up in Boulder this fall, you are always welcome to come hangout. Ben- I really wish we had become friends a lot earlier than when we did. You are one of the funniest kids I’ve ever met and I know that every time I get a text or Snapchat from you I have to prepare to LMAO of ROFL or LMS for a TBH. We have had a lot of great times together from hot-tubbing with the homies to kidnapping 8th graders, laser tagging to enjoying major laser, because apparently we have poor taste in music. All in all I’m lucky to call you my friend, and I expect us to chill a lot this coming year, and hopefully work together this summer. Scott- You are such a nice, genuine guy. You have incredible character and overall, you are an upstanding guy. Hanging out with you over these last two spring breaks was a hoot and a half. Also, rooming with you at all of these NFTY events has been great. Playing soccer with you and Paul was so much fun, and quite the workout. LOL. You always know how to make me laugh with your incredible amount of sarcasm. I mean, how sarcastic can a person actually be? You’ve got sick beats, and mad rhymes. You keep it up and you’ll make it to the Prose. (You see what I did there? :]) Jack- You are easily one of the wittiest, funniest, and overall smartest kid I’ve ever met. You know how to make every situation a hysterical one. You are a great leader, and I can’t wait to see the things you do in NFTY, GW, and your future as a whole. Madeline- Even though you were a mischievous little sixth grader doing anything possible to emotionally abuse your eighth grade toranim, in the end we still became pretty close. You’ve given me tons of good advice, and I’d like to thank you for that. You are incredibly mature and hilarious. I am really looking forward to working with you and Jack this summer at camp. Brett, Joel, Zach, and EzraYou have honestly made these past couple years of NFTY fantastic. I wish we had become friends earlier because you are hilarious. I’m really glad that I got to room with you at events. You are real sassy, and I like it. I know that next year, you are going to do great things in NFTY, and I am proud to call you my Paul. Paul- Playing soccer with you at school this year was awesome. I mean what are the odds? Coach telling both of us that we are the best players on the team and putting us on Freshman Squad for moral support! Weird!! Sam- I really wish we had become friends before junior year. Hanging out with you at the end of Midwest Mashup was really chill and I’m glad that since then we’ve become better friends. Playing Catan with you, Ethan, and Zach got really intense, and I think overall, were pretty good at that
game. You’re a great ultimate player and person as a whole. Aaron- You’re an incredible youth advisor and I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me. If it weren’t for you, there’s no way I could have been this involved in NFTY. I know that we’re all going to miss you next year, but hopefully I’ll get to see you around temple every now and then. You’re a great guy with an awesome sense of humor. Once again; thanks for everything! Maddie C- You are such an incredible person. You have such a big heart and not one person that crosses paths with you would disagree with that. You are sweet, genuine, and so talented. Your singing and musical talent are insane, and I know that you are going to do great things in life and I can’t wait to work with you this summer! Jon- you are quite the character. You are such a funny and outgoing guy and I really appreciate that. Even though you broke my bed you are still one of my favorite people to be around. Hannah W- You are a great person. I love messing with you at NFTY, school, temple, stucco, and lacrosse practice. You are a great leader with an incredible personality and I know that next year you are going to make a great PVP! Stay golden, Pony Boy. Stay Golden. Hannah P- We’ve only known each other for a couple of years, but I think we’ve become pretty close. Being an SIT with you, and going on IST with you was incredible, and I know we’ll keep in touch in the years to come. Maddie J- Good times. Ethan L- You are such a great guy. You’re hilarious, smart, and have the perfect quaf to swoosh ratio in your hair. You made an incredible PVP and I’m glad that I’ve gotten to know you for so long. Jamie- You are such a great girl. You are funny and really down to earth. I met you at LTI my sophomore year when we were future leaders and now were seniors. I wish I had hung out with you more in the last few years but hopefully we’ll stay in touch. PS you’re one incredible singer. Alyssa and Becca- I’ve got to say, we make one HECK of a team. With are incredible mixture of ruach, leading, and merchandising, we took MV by storm and showed them how to train future leaders, make incredible merch, and infect everyone in NFTY with GonorRuach. NFTY Giants- If it weren’t for all of you, I wouldn’t have continued to come to NFTY over the years. Some of you I’ve know before NFTY because of things like temple, camp, and school, and you guys have really made quite the imprint on my life. Others who I met only through NFTY have really accepted me for the rambunctious kid that I am and I appreciate that. Thank you all for making NFTY what it is today. Everybody else- Unfortunately, I can’t include everyone in this will, however, every single one of you made NFTY what it is today. Every single MV-er has contributed to my NFTY experience, and I’d like to thank all of you for that. MV is full of leaders and great people as a whole. I love all of you and I am proud to say that NFTY-MV has helped make me who I am today and I am always going to remember the fun I’ve had and the friends that I’ve made.
THE SENIOR WILL OF NICOLETTE ANA TABER NFTY MV, It’s crazy that I’m writing my senior will already. As cliché as this is, it feels like it was just yesterday that I was an eighth grader at UH running around at JYG. Now, I’m leaving you all. Even if you don’t know it, you have made an impact on my life. I started NFTY as an extremely shy, insecure person, and you all have helped me open up and grow into who I am today. If not for you guys, I honestly would not be the same person. You have always been there for me when I needed it, and I’m grateful for that. I’ll miss each and every one of you. Healy Slakman: Even though you’re not technically in MV anymore, you’re still an honorary member. There are no words to describe our sisterhood. We are the sistas from Canada that no Levis jeans can handle…Love you so much, and I know we’ll be driving a lot between Michigan and Indiana next year! Missions come and go, but sisters stay forever… STL Jackie, Miranda and Emily : I can’t believe we’ve known each other for well over a decade…time seriously flies by. You guys have been there for me since the very beginning. Jackie, sometimes I feel like you think I’m stalking you because I see you at the J so much. Sorry, girl…Miranda, well, we do stalk people. That’s just who we are. I honestly don’t think I should reveal in here all of the sketchiness we’ve encountered. Let’s just say, DC. Emily, we both know I am a psychic so I pretty much should replace Shawn on psych. Love you girls, I wish you all the best of luck next year! Andrew Cohen: You are my best friend. We fight, yes, but we both know we’d be nothing without each other. You best be visiting Ann Arbor next year. I’ll miss you too much. Love you! Sam Feldman: Hey, remember going to my homecoming junior year? Guud timez. Good luck next year I’m sure our paths will cross. SETYG: Thank you so much for giving me the best of times and always being there for me. We seriously are the best youth group in NFTY. I can’t wait to see how SETYG grows over the years. Visit me at college! Jamie Nachman: Girl, you’re crazy and I love you. We’ve had some great talks and I hope those continue in the future! Good luck at IU next year! I’ll only be a five hour drive away :) Ethan Lang: You’re a beautiful soul. Alex Jacks: I think we have a love/hate relationship. It’s mainly love ;) Have fun next year, being a senior is the best. Alyssa Guller: Good luck next year! You’re great! Zach Heiman: Oh boy. Convention plane ride? Love you! You’re a cool kid. Almost as cool as your brother. Good luck next year with everything! Justin Bohm: Stay sassy. Love you! Becca Cohen: I wish Potbelly would have worked out better! Austin Dubinsky: You’re not a real human being. Zach Prelutsky and Justin Baris: You guys are studs. Good luck next year! KC Timmy Fine: You might as well just move into my theater room…I’ll give you a bag of gummy bears to survive off of. You’re such a funny guy. I’ll miss you next year! Keep up the snapchats. Jonathan Fry: Our friendship sprang into full action this year, but it feels like we have been friends for more than a lifetime. You’re a gem. Keep it real.
OMAHA Morissa Miller: Good luck at Mizzou next year! You’re a great girl and I’m sure you’re going to have a fantastic time at college. Sophie Goldberg: Hey college buddy! Even though I haven’t seen you in a year, I have a feeling we’re still going to have a blast in the fall no matter what. Ann Arbor doesn’t know what’s heading for it…because…Shaniqua is coming too!!! U of M for life. Love you, Soph. Ariel Kohll: You are such an inspirational person. I wish I were as courageous as you. Good luck next year. Maddie Jensen: I think you are such a fun girl! Stick with what you’re doing! I know you’ll go places. ADVISORS Jodi, Becky, Danny and Nick: Each one of you taught me life lessons that I’ll never forget. I can only hope to find mentors in college like you guys to guide me through daily life. Thank you for all the time you put into NFTY and making it such a wonderful thing to be a part of. Miss you guys! NFTY GIANTS Mama Lauren: I’m not really sure how I survived my senior year without you. You were truly a great mother to me throughout high school and I hope we stay as close next year and beyond! LOVE YOU! Step Father Julie: Partner, thanks for always taking care of me. We’ve had some great times together. You and big mama better visit me up north next year! Xoxo Joel: The family bed. That explains everything. I’ve missed you this year and I hope we can spend more time together this summer. You’re a great guy! Campbell, Jess and Angie: You three continue to inspire me daily. Sara: You’ve always been nice to me even when some other Jews weren’t. I love you for that! You’re practically my grandma anyways. NFTY, thank you for making my high school years special! Love you!
