The US president has been focusing on jobs and the economy as he addressed the public in his annual State of the Union speech. In his first such address since his Democrat party lost the majority in Congress, Barack Obama said that what matters is creating jobs, not who wins the next election. “At stake right now is not who wins the next election - after all, we just had an election. At stake is whether new jobs and industries take root in this country, or somewhere else,” he said on Tuesday. He pledged investments in green energy and to stop subsidising “yesterday’s energy”. “With more research and incentives, we can break our dependence on oil with biofuels, and become the first country to have one million electric vehicles on the road by 2015,” Obama said. >>Read More

China not manipulating currency: U.S. February 4, 2011-Globe and Mail

The Obama administration on Friday declined to cite China for manipulating its currency to gain trade advantages against the United States.

You will be presenting your findings in a team of up to 4 individuals to a panel of experienced judges from the Edward Jones Leadership Team. The Certified Management Accountants of Ontario (CMA Ontario) will hold its 6th annual Case Competition on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at McMaster University. This is a competition where you compete against teams from every university in Ontario: 140 students, organized in 35 teams, from 18 Ontario universities; to win a grand prize of $5000! Students are invited to put their management leadership skills to the test, and with the use of a computer-based, decision-driven simulation, and strategically advise a fictional company’s senior management on a change management plan given limited resources of time and money.
