She Works Hard for the Money
October 20, 2024
A day
long celebration of women entrepreneurs
POWERED BY WOMEN
Women entrepreneurs face balancing entrepreneurship with family life, which requires constant prioritization, yet it’s challenging to create boundaries between work and home. Cultural expectations can add pressure, as women are often expected to be the primary caregivers, and balancing this with a growing business can lead to burnout if support networks aren’t in place. Personal time frequently takes a backseat, impacting mental and physical well-being. The ability to stay flexible, rely on family and friends, and establish shared responsibilities where possible becomes essential for sustaining both roles successfully
Thanks to our partners at UPS, TD Bank, and the UP Foundation, On Sunday, October 20, 2024, the New York Urban League Small Business SOLUTIONS Center created a multi-layered event, She Works Hard for the Money, for over 150 women business owners to unload the weight of their dual lives and expectations
This woman-powered day was filled with business education workshops, beauty treats, experiential activities, and, most of all, the spirit of sisterhood

Greetings Gina,
As promised I wanted to make sure you knew how grateful I was for this event Here is my testimonial:
As an accountability coach and creative entrepreneur juggling multiple passions, from brand strategy to film production, I know the weight of constantly pouring into others while rarely receiving that same energy back Walking into "She Works Hard for the Money" last Sunday, I was immediately struck by the intentionality of it all! The venue, adorned with beautiful Black art, radiated warmth and celebration, something I desperately needed during a season of financial strain and entrepreneurial fatigue
Gina you and the team created more than an event; you crafted a sacred space where ambitious women like myself could finally exhale From crafting personal fragrances to mindful card-making sessions, every detail spoke to our need for both luxury and healing The experience reminded me that my hard work isn't invisible, and my dreams aren't unrealistic In a year where even small indulgences like manicures felt out of reach, this event was divine timing
What moves me most, even as I write this with tears of gratitude, is how someone recognized that behind every strong entrepreneur is a human who sometimes needs permission to pause and be pampered This wasn't just networking, it was nurturing The genuine connections made with other entrepreneurs and the chance to feel truly celebrated have reignited my spirit
To you,The NY Urban League, team of vendors and volunteers, your understanding of our journey and your commitment to celebrating us has touched my heart deeply I'm committed to paying this blessing forward May your investment in women like me return to you a thousandfold!
With gratitude always,
Donna Marie
