This nonprofit club is an organization through which photographers learn more about photography, largely through workshops at monthly meetings. Competitions are also held on a monthly basis. The season runs September through June and meetings are on two Thursday nights per month at the Newtown Senior Center, starting at 7:30 pm. Members may enter their work in monthly club competitions, participate in workshops, take field trips, get involved in community programs, and take part in annual exhibits at the Newtown Municipal Center in the fall and at the C.H. Booth Library in the spring. Membership is $35 annually, $55 family, free to students; and is open to anyone with an interest in photography, regardless of level of experience. Booth Library is a nonprofit volunteer group that supports Newtown’s Cyrenius H. Booth Library through a variety of fundraising, cultural, and educational activities. Every summer, the Friends holds one of the region’s largest book sales, at the Reed Intermediate School on Trades Lane, featuring more than 100,000 books for all ages and interests, rare books, software, and records.
