 Blog: Medium o www.medium.com @Kentuckyymca o Do not post articles on medium without having me look over it o Post Times: Sunday night, Monday morning, Monday evening before Mandatory Fun, Tuesday morning (?)  Topics for Articles o Intention (theme of conference) o PO candidates (interviews) o Global Village/International Stage (work with photo delegates for images) o Press conference (prepare questions) o Security Counsel Crisis (possibly) o Education Fair and Resolution Sponsors o Brainstorm!!  Newspaper o Formatting through issuu (magazine style)  Account: kyymcamedia  https://issuu.com/kyymcamedia/docs/the_written_word.d ocx (example from KYA 3) o Microsoft Word for actual articles? o Export as a PDF o Standard fonts, font sizes, formatting types, etc. o Must be finished by Monday Night or early Tuesday morning  Tips for writing articles and conducting interviews o Record interviews with phone so you don’t have to take notes/quotes at that moment – you can go back and listen as you write your article o Use Grammarly  This is optional; when you have me edit yours I will also run it through grammarly before fully editing it to make sure there aren’t any technical errors o Check the blog or previous newspapers for examples of formatting and writing o Make sure you have all of the details you need/want o Carry around a pad of paper and pen/pencil so you can always take notes


o Feel free to pair up! If two people want to work on an article, that’s fine – just make sure you’re working efficiently  Communication o Contact me with any questions – groupme/group chat/etc  Possible Questions for interviews o PO Candidate interviews:  What do you think qualifies you to take on the responsibilities of governor?  What are your future goals?  What is something that drives you/something you’re passionate about?  Tell us your favorite “Y Moment”.  (Feel free to ask a silly question too! Ex. Do you have any nicknames? Favorite childhood TV show? It’s up to you, but keep the questions similar for all the PO interviews – people love comparisons) o Regular Delegate interviews:  What school do you go to?  What country do you represent?  When did your involvement in Y-conferences begin and why? o “Intention” Story interviews:  For New Delegates:  What is your intention for the conference?  How do you plan on using your experience from KUNA?  (At the end of the conference) How do your expectations from the beginning compare to your KUNA experience?  For Experienced Delegates:  How do you intend to help the new delegates?  How do you plan on making this conference better? o I encourage you to come up with your own questions, especially since your individual articles will require different information  We are trying to coordinate with the other media disciplines o Use pictures from the photo delegates (we can send them out on assignments for specific articles)


o Social media team will tweet out links to the blog articles and the finished newspaper o Feel free to get quotes/info from the broadcast interviews
