SCC Players Participate in Tennis Classic

Sun City Center residents Edna Carlin and Debbie Zieg were excited to participate in the 2019 32nd Annual Morning Star School Tennis Classic held on March 23 and 24 at Carrollwood Country Club. The proceeds from the tournament will be used to benefit elementary and junior high age children with autism and other learning disabilities. Each player that participated received a goodie bag, tennis event towel and a tennis court Joe Heim Ed Brown t-shirt. Players were guaranteed at least two matches. Snack and “Ringers” SCC Horseshoe Association beverages were provided to the Singles Tournament The Ringers recently held their Singles horseshoes tournament. We tennis players throughout the are proud to announce the 1st and 2nd place results. First place tournament. Lunch was also provided on Saturday and Sunday. was won by Joe Heim, and second place was won by Ed Brown. Come join the Ringers and get into the mix. We throw on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 8:30 to 11, right behind the South Community Center. You are very welcome to come out and have a free cup of coffee.

SCC Pickleball Club Dinking Tournament

Pickleball Dinking Tournaments have become a popular contest in Sun City Center. Saturday, April 13, Pickleball Club members competed in a game using only the pickleball technique known as “dinking”. Dinking is a soft hit of the ball which drops abruptly to the ground once it’s over the net. Called the soft game, it requires players to use finesse, patience and a gentle touch. In years past, members would sign up individually to compete. This year members signed up asFONTS partners. SCC Lawn Bowling

One of the highlights of the lawn bowling season is the final playoff for the overall Club Singles Champion. This year it was the current Women’s Singles Champion, Cindy Higgins meeting the Men’s Singles Champion, Phil Griffin. This matchup attracted many spectators. It was a great game to watch. Cindy Higgins prevailed, getting the win and was awarded the Club Singles Championship trophy.
