Interfaith Council Meeting

Story and photo by Jay Sparkman Congregation Beth Israel hosted the February meeting of the Sun City Center Interfaith Council. The guest speaker for the gathering was John D. Wilbur, Jr., Senior Major Gifts Officer for LifePath Hospice. The Interfaith Council has been a supporter of LifePath Hospice for many years through grants made possible by the sales of donated goods at the Nearly New Shop in Sun City Center. Interfaith Council Presents Grant

The House of Hope was presented a grant by the Sun City Center Interfaith Council in a recent ceremony held at the Nearly New Shop in the SCC Plaza. Hillsborough House of Hope is residential facility offering addiction and life counseling to women who have been released from prison. House of Hope’s goal is to reduce the number of women returning to jail and helping them to become productive citizens. The SCC Interfaith Council uses funds from the sale of donated goods at the Nearly New Shop to present grants to organizations in the South Shore area. Trinity Women’s Fellowship

The Trinity Women’s Fellowship had a large turnout for their monthly luncheon. This month, chef Ron Harding, assisted by Pat Thomas, prepared a wonderful spaghetti dish with special sauce, accompanied by salad with a ginger dressing, bread with a pasta dip, and cupcakes. The guest speaker was Kathleen Hess the Area Representative for Voice of the Martyrs. For over 25 years, she has been speaking, teaching/preaching and assisting churches and mission organizations with humanitarian aid, medical and dental assistance and feeding programs. Trinity Baptist Church Easter Presentation

Saint Anne Bible Study

Very Rev. John F. McEvoy, V.F., Pastor of Saint Anne Catholic Church in Ruskin, is conducting weekly bible study classes during the Lenten season. On a very rainy Monday, March 17, more than 40 parishioners assembled in Saint Joachim Hall to discuss Saint John’s gospel story of the “Woman at the Well.” Fr. John guided the participants through a thoughtful reading of the scripture passage and then encouraged a prayerful, relevant discussion of this well-known gospel story. Trinity Baptist Church will hold its Easter presentation, titled, “THE KING IS COMING.” This multimedia presentation is filled with singing, drama, and audience participation. The presentation will be held on Saturday, April 12th, at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 13th, at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free, seating is limited, come early.
