With Deputy Chris Girard Did you know? Hello to all Kings Point and Sun City Center residents! It’s good to be back as your HCSO resource deputy, even if it is just temporary. This month I wanted to update the residents of our community about several issues that will be of interest to you. Did you know that, in the past year we’ve had several burglaries involving rear sliding glass doors? Many of these are crimes of opportunity. Unlocked doors leaving homes vulnerable to bad guys. Do you know what you should do to reduce the likelihood of becoming a target? Did you know that, at this time each year, the scams really start picking up? Phone, mail and walkup scams often increase during this time of year. Do you know what you need to know
to avoid becoming a victim? Did you know that, of all things, the theft of lawn decorations and lawn ornaments is increasing in our area? People are coming home to simply find their lawn ornaments gone. Do you know what you can do to keep this from happening to you? If you did not know these things or are unaware of how you may be able to take action, then please come to our next monthly community meeting. Attendance at these meetings has decreased over
the last several months and, consequently, we have seen an increase in certain types of crimes, like those listed above. These informative meetings allow residents to get the latest news, crime trends and the knowledge they need to take the proper precautions and avoid becoming a victim. For Kings Point residents: The meetings are hosted the second Tuesday of every month at 1:00 PM in the fiber arts room of the main clubhouse. For Sun City Center residents: The meetings are hosted the second Thursday of every month at 9:00 AM at the security squad.
A third meeting, open to any residents of KP or SCC is held the third Wednesday of every month at the Sun Trust bank at 1525 Rickenbacker Dr. Please take advantage of these important informational meetings. An informed populace is better aware and able to protect itself from many different types of crime.
