Zenith Residential Tower, A3 Sports City, Dubai, May 2008

Zenith Residential Tower is a 15-story building, with the total area of 15,000 sq.m., located in Sport City, Dubai. Based on the neighborhood construction codes, the building should be constructed over a podium; however the gym and pool facilities are on the roof top.

Urban Design

A- The transparent glass core covers the building body and the residential units floor plans. B- The external Shell, is composed of two twisting rectangle which are rotating in different directions in order to create a shade over the glass core as well as the balconies edge. C- The space between main body and external shell, creates balconies which can be planted to create a vertical type of gardens. D- The podium forms the street edge and the entrance lobby; however it creates private yards for the first floor units on its roof top. Designing a transparent core while shaded by an external dynamic shell, allows having the same floor plans for the whole building. Such design not only makes the construction cost more reasonable, but also meets the climatic factors of such hot and humid area.

The architecture concept is to create a dynamic three dimensional faรงade, while keeping the large diamonds geometry on the volume. The whole volume is comprised of four major parts:

Kish 5-Star Resort Hotel, Kish Island,Iran, Nov 2008

Location : Kish Island, Persian Gulf,Iran Client : Yeganeh Saze Kish co. Area : 13,000 sq.m. Hotel 2,500 sq.m. Villa

Dome of Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, Isfahan, Iran Fresh water reservoir,Boushehr , Iran

The major concept is formed based on traditional Iranian fresh water reservoirs with conic dome shape. The architecture volume is divided into 3 parts, Central glass core, external shell, terraces which fill the gap between the core and shell in order to allocate the vertical gardens. The design strategy is to create a sustainable architecture based on hot and humid weather of the region. The designed curtain panels placed on the shell holes, have traditional Iranian geometric pattern to reduce the sharp sunlight before meeting the glass core. The general pattern morphology is also formed based on the Iranian expanding geometry found on the old mosque domes.

The Tall Emblem Structure of the Za’abbel Park, Dubai International Architectural Award Entry 2009 Dubai urban growth has happened in a way which created two different urban patterns. The location of the Tall Emblem Structure of Za’abeel Park seems to be a focal point between the new urban expansion of Dubai, Jumairah , and the older districts like Deirah. By considering the identity of the building in an Arabic country, two cultural and architectural traditions are forming factors; the Arch shape vs. the Expanding Geometrythe architecture concept is also based on self a sustaining structure which acts as a gate between Old Dubai and New Dubai. The tower program is a library and convention center on the ground and view deck on top.

The plan geometry is composed of two shapes. The diamond on the ground floor is aligned to the park geometry, and the ellipse on top is in the same direction with the dominant wind blow of the area. This attitude creates an aerodynamic shape in the top. The space created under the arch, forms a plaza where the main building entrance happens through out a stretched wing toward park entrance. The volume is formed base on an expanding geometry which starts on the tower head and pours down on the body and the landscape. The geometry modules are the diamonds which creates a dynamic effect of shadows by the daylight. These modules, at the very transparent part, play as solar panels in order to provide the project energy; however the void ones trap the wind on top, conduct it down throughout the arch’s legs and blow it out on the plaza.

By designing the mobility quality on landscape, many design factors are considered. An inviting pedestrian should be created close to the park main entrance; however parking ramp must be kept away from the green area. Visitors are divided into two groups. One goes to the plaza and elevators to the view deck, the other one goes to the cultural facilities underground throughout a separated ramp-plaza.

3-Sqaure commercial-fair Center, Araak,Iran, January 2008

This commercial and fair center is located in a big triangular zone, among three high ways. The total built-up area, 75,000 Sq m is divided into three 25-story office towers and an expanded 2-story zone as a shopping and fair center. Design concept is breaking down the common bulk of cubic office towers. Most of the big firms occupy more than 2 or 3 floors in a building. Thus, each of those colorful cubes may be allocated to an office in order to provide a semi private space.

International Oil Stock Exchange of Iran, MArch Final Design Project, Nov 22, 2005 Iran is one of the oldest countries in the Middle East with more than 70 years background in oil industry. In 2004, debates around organizing an exchange market for oil and related products approved to establish the Oil Stock Exchange Market of Iran in Tehran. on My MArch thesis, I practiced designing a complex office and market programs including series of Exchange Chambers, Stock brokers offices, VIP spaces and other facilities.

The site location I proposed for this complex is also surrounded by 3 high ways, hotels and public transportation centers; however one of those highways goes directly to the International Airport.
