WWW.LIFESTEPSUSA.ORG Strengthening Individuals | Building Resilient Communities | Providing a Hope for the Future LifeSTEPS’ mission is to provide effective educational and supportive services to maximize the strengths of individuals and build resilient communities. We do this by providing supportive services to affordable housing residents, the most vulnerable members of our community. We are there to catch them before they fall into deeper poverty and help them avoid homelessness. By helping them, we strengthen our entire community.

NEARLY 9 OUT OF 10 RESIDENTS WE CATCH STAY IN THEIR HOMES Seniors benefit greatly from LifeSTEPS supportive services. They are able to maintain their independence far longer and with more dignity because of our supportive services, safety net programs and “friendly visits”.

Through our emergency safety net program, 87% of the people we catch remain in their homes for 12 months or longer. They receive valuable financial management education and receive supportive services – like job training – that move them on the road of self-sufficiency. Families gain hope. Children stay in school. Seniors maintain the dignity of independence. It doesn’t take much. To make a tax-deductible contribution go to www.LifeSTEPSusa.org or call (916) 965-0110, ext. 212. Founded in 1983, the agency has provided permanency services to more than 2,800 children. Sierra believes every child needs and deserves a permanent, loving family. Our missiOn: We transform the lives of children living in foster care by building and nurturing permanent families. Our Belief: We believe that while some children might need temporary care; NO child should grow up in temporary care. All children NEED a forever family to call their own. We believe this because within two to four years of emancipating from foster care over 50% of youth: • Girls become pregnant • Have not completed high school • Are homeless, in prison or dead These are the worst outcomes for any subset of youth; former foster youth now make up the largest users of homeless shelters in California.
