Newport ready to uncork 34th annual Seafood & Wine Festival

With advanced online tickets for the Newport Seafood & Wine Festival still selling well, the Festival has announced its lineup of food vendors, arts and crafts booths, and over 80 wineries. The 34th Annual Newport Seafood & Wine Festival happens February 25, 26, and 27 adjacent to the Rogue Ales Warehouse, 2320 OSU Drive, just south of downtown Newport. Many famed winemakers from around the northwest will be there, along with names not so well known or smaller wineries. Among them are Troon Vineyards, King's Raven Winery, Zerba Cellars, Seufert Winery, Capitello Winery, Agate Ridge Winery and Willamette Valley Winery, and the Oregon coast's Nehalem Bay Winery, to name a few. One beer booth will be there, with the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce selling Rogue Ales. Many of the food vendors are from the coast, especially the Newport area: among them are Local Ocean Seafoods, Drift Inn, Embarcadero LTD, Rogue Ales Brewers On The Bay, Mo's, Sada's Sushi Bar, and Newport Cafe. The full list of wineries, food vendors and arts and crafts booths is available at http://www.newportchamber.org/seafood_wine/vendors11.pdf. For those wanting advanced E-tickets and access to a

faster line into the Festival, tickets are available at http://www. newportchamber.org/sw_general.htm. Prices for e-tickets are the same as the gate entry, but with a handling fee. Advanced group tickets are also on sale, allowing larger groups a special entrance. Groups of 15 or more can call the Chamber office (800-262-7844). Festival hours and gate prices - which do not reflect a handling fee - are 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25 ($10), 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 ($15), and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27 ($5). Officials urge Festival goers to make their hotel reservations soon, as rooms fill up to 100 percent in the area, including outlying towns like Depoe Bay, Lincoln City, Waldport and Yachats. Attendees must be 21 years or older, and show valid picture ID or they will not be able to enter the event. The site is handicapped accessible and smoke free, with a special outdoor smoking area. Limited parking will be available at the facility for $5. Shuttle buses will run for free from Newport, and a shuttle schedule and map is available on the chamber's website as well as the chamber center. For more information, call 800-262-7844, or visit www. newportchamber.org.

Welcome to the 2011 Seafood & Wine Festival!

WHEN SHOULD YOU CALL 9-1-1?

Lincom takes great pride in it’s service to the public and supporting agencies. The dispatch staff personally answers every phone that comes into the center within three rings, emergency or not; it should be noted however for every non-essential phone call we receive; wrong number, cell phones in pockets,or pranksters we lose valuable time and resources needed to help in real emergency situations.

Here are some tips to help you decide when to call:

1. ANY IMMEDIATE DANGER TO LIFE, LIMB, OR PROPERTY 2. ANY INJURY REQUIRING IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION 3. A FIRE 4. ANY CRIME IN PROGRESS 5. A SERIOUS TRAFFIC ACCIDENT 6. IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT;

make the call, we’ll sort it out.
