DECEMBER A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR This is the third production of our magazine style Activity Guide and the responses have been overwhelmingly positive. We are able to offer a variety of color photographs and get the information to you in a more organized and readable manner. Like many things, this continues to be a work in progress and I welcome your comments and feedback on how we can continue to improve. I would also like to make you aware that we have a variety of public spaces available to rent. The Municipal Pool, Senior Activity Center and Recreation Center all have a range of options that might be the perfect solution for your next social gathering, family reunion, club or association meeting. Maybe one of the best advantages of using these facility options is that you don’t have to do any special house cleaning or lawn care, we have it already done and ready for you. We can accommodate all kinds of classes or even catered meals by providing tables and chairs, free wifi, prep kitchens, white boards and rooms with suspended wood floors and mirrors. Moving forward as a provider of recreational opportunities, facilities and sporting events, we are excited to offer some larger events and spectator opportunities to you. While we continue with great partnerships that bring you events like the Quilts by the Sea, Coast Hills Classic, Seahorse and numerous sport tournaments, I am interested in expanding this lineup to maximize our facilities. If you or your organization has something you would like to try, let’s connect and explore the opportunities and resources we have available. Thank You, Jim Protiva Parks and Recreation Director j.protiva@newportoregon.gov
