what is Plaque? Plaque is a soft, sticky, colorless film of bacteria that continuously deposits on our teeth If plaque is not treated, it can harden into tartar that attaches to the enamel and below the gum line Formation of plaque is a sign that the patient is neglecting dental hygiene


causes of plaque Plaque begins forming on teeth 4 to 12 hours after brushing which is why it is very important to brush twice a day and floss daily. High consumption of sugary and sweet food or snacking between meals and not cleaning your teeth afterwards. At initial stages, plaque is not visible to the naked eye. Avoiding regular dental check-ups can be harmful.
