FALL MUSIC HITS ISSUE

We are now moving well into the final quarter and that’s a strong signal that the year is fast coming to an end. It seems to happen in the blink of an eye that we are already into the Fall season and that before we know it the holidays will be upon us. Here at New Music Weekly we can feel the heat as labels both major and independent are releasing songs as fast as they can just to get a piece of the holiday buying season. The mixed bag of product is quite something and it showcases more than ever that crossover is the name of the game. Artists look to get better coverage by making their music available to multi-formats. No picture is better to underscore this than the recent pairing of recording artists Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber. The new “10,000 Hours” (Warner Music Nashville) is breaking from mainstream to Country and the numbers are off the charts. Also getting things going under the wire are numerous artists from the American Idol franchise. You have former Idol star Gabby Barrett breaking things wide open with her new and powerful “I Hope” (WMN) that appears to be well it’s way. Lauren Alaina, who is also getting a boost of popularity during her stint on “Dancing With The Stars”, is breaking fast with “Getting Good” (19 Recordings/Mercury Nashville). It’s also good to see that Maddie Poppe is getting some love at radio for her new “Not Losing You” (Hollywood). All of this is happening just as a new season of American Idol gets underway. Last minute entries into the radio world also include Niall Horan who is breaking at pop radio with “Nice To Meet Ya” to Sam Hunt back at the Country format in a very big way with his strong “Kinfolks” (MCA Nashville) offering. New Indie artists also abound with the likes of Benny Marsella with his heartfelt “A Special Kind Of Love” (Scheherazade), rising star Joe Taylor who makes his debut with “I Can’t Make You Love” to new pop rocker Wax with “Diamond In The Rough” (Independent) just to name a few. All you have to do is look at our charts in this issue to see all of the new song entries to are exploding at radio. In addition to the rush to get songs out there from pop to Country, it’s also the time that when our radio stations, music and program directors begin to get their Christmas music plans in order. Holiday music is still one of the best ways to gain attention whether you are a major or an independent music artist. One of the many benefits of getting jump on new and original holiday music is that for many programmers, they have a library of such music that they take out each and every year. Getting a good song out there for the season could mean having your music part of that library and that could be of a huge benefit to any new or established recording artist. Radio is always on the hunt for new holiday music. It’s also that time of year when the music awards come into play. All of us here are getting the early prep for our annual New Music Awards. Over the next month we will be polling many of our music and program directors to get a feel for the artists, bands & songs that have had the biggest impact for 2019. It’s quite a task but necessary for us to get their input on music that has been important to their music programming. Again this year we will also be offering an open ballot designed to let music fans and our subscribers have a helping hand in not only choosing our nominees but also our final winners as well. This allows for a wider range of opportunity to all artist that deserve some attention. As we have mentioned many times before, New Music Weekly continues to offer some of the best “tools of the trade” when it comes to breaking music & artists at radio. From the very beginning for us it’s always been about leveling the playing field and giving independent artists as much of a voice at major label artists. Many of you may have noticed the new improvement in our music charts and of the STS tracking system that helps to fuel those charts. From our advertising opportunities to our annual New Music Awards, we continue to blaze a trail for both the major and the independent artist. Our next issue will be the Best of 2019 where artists and bands will have a final award nomination shot.

Rascal Flatts formed in Columbus, Ohio, in 1999. It is composed of lead vocalist Gary LeVox, his second cousin Jay DeMarcus on bass guitar, and Joe Don Rooney on guitar and banjo. DeMarcus is also a brother-in-law of country music singer James Otto, and formerly one-half of the Christian music duo East to West. From 2000 to 2010, they recorded for Disney Music Group’s Lyric Street Records. While on that label, they released seven albums, all of which have been certified platinum or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Their studio albums have accounted for more than 25 singles, of which 14 have reached No. 1. Their longest-lasting No. 1 single, a cover of Marcus Hummon’s “Bless the Broken Road”, spent five weeks in that position in 2005. In 2005–06, “What Hurts the Most” was No. 1 on both the Hot Country Songs and Adult Contemporary charts, and peaked at No. 6 on the Hot100. The super group has just been confirmed to appear during Country Radio Seminar (CRS) 2020. The event called Rascal Flatts: 20 Years Of Country Radio Success, is set for 4:00pm Central Standard Time on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at Nashville’s Omni Hotel, and is sponsored by the Country Music Association (CMA) as its annual featured session at CRS. The act will share insight into the trio’s monumental 20-year journey, revealing how they broke down boundaries as true trailblazers in the genre while maintaining a longevity and relevance that continues to propel them today. Rascal Flatts will also appear at the Opening Ceremonies to reveal the Country Radio Hall of Fame Class of 2020. We here at New Music Weekly have been following them from the very beginning and we will continue to keep you up-to-date on their on-going music adventure. This is our very special Fall Hits Music issue. We invite you to take a look as some of the chart-breaking artists that are truly making music history during this final quarter of 2019. 3

Niall Horan saved the best for last in 2019. His new single “Nice To Meet Ya” (Capitol) was really quite the pleasant surprise. Billie Eilish continues to amuse and amaze radio. Her new “All The Good Girls Go To Hell” (S Curve/EMI) puts another hit on her list. The unlikely pairing of Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber has turned out to be the biggest delight at Top40 so far this year. “10,000 Hours” (Warner Music Nashville) is so good that it didn’t take but a minute for our stations & their music and program directors to jump all over it. Looks like another #1 for both as we get ready to close out the final quarter of 2019. The boys we have come to know as 5 Seconds Of Summer are back at the format with a real charmer. All the girls scream and light up the phones when they spin the song “Teeth” (Interscope) so you can’t really ignore them now can you? Illenium teams up with Jon Bellion for a track that deserves your love and respect. “Good Things Fall Apart” (Astralwerks/Capitol) is the jam that I’m talking about and this one could go all the way baby. Alessia Cara has an excellent song out and about called “Rooting For You” (Def Jam/UMG) that you should save some room for on your music playlist. I’m also loving the new single from Stephen Puth. Yes, Charlie’s little brother has a hit with “Look Away” (Arista/Sony) so I hope there is no family jealousy out there for this one. Chris Brown is taking on Drake and once the feud is over they both hope that you will help them with the single “No Guidance” (RCA/RLG). I would not want to make either of them mad at this point. We love seeing the Rob Georg single doing so well at radio. His “Carry The Wind” (Coast) is so good that we even ran a ad for him in this issue so make sure you check it out & he’s got a new one too. Swigga Geovanni is taking it to church as his new “DMLY” (Indie) moves past the pack. This new recording artist with many talents is the “real deal” so make sure you give him some extra spins so we can break this Top5 and in record time. Twenty One Pilots are on fire once again as they take the song “The Hype” (Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic/WMG) to a higher calling. The biggest pairing of the week (so get your tablet out and write this down). We’re talking about French Montana & Post Malone, with Cardi B & Rvssian & I’m sure there are more to add. “Writing On The Wall” (Bad Boy Entertainment/Epic) is the track so need we say more? There’s a single out there with Kygo & Whitney Houston called “Higher Love” (Kygo/RCA) that is getting a lot of action and if you are smart and spiritual, I would jump on this one but very prayerfully. Marshmello & Kane Brown are getting lots of love and praise for the single “One Thing Right” (RCA Nashville). Recording artist Gramma Rikki has got everyone’s attention and it’s about time. Her “Earth-Ship” single is so good and so are the amazing harmonies. Also pulling in some rather big numbers is Total Life who is taking their debut single “A Great Love” to the top of many charts. Recording artist Garrett Young has a good thing going as he takes his “Stray Cat Call” out for a spin. The band Indecent Exposure is actually getting a lot of exposure at radio. Their debut single entitled “Take A Look” has been ranking among the “most added” for several weeks & now it’s on its way to becoming the bands first charted Hit. Blueface has joined forces with Jeremih to create some music magic. “Close Up” (Cash Money/Republic) is the jam that I’m talking about and this one is oh so good. Joy Mover is taking her current single “Heaven In Your Heart” to the top of the Top40 and we’re all thrilled for her. Wax is a name that you may not know just yet but hang on – you sure will. The debut single in “Diamond In The Rough” is nothing short of brilliant. Expect some monster things ahead as we see and hear more about the amazing Wax. Billy F. Otis continues to amaze us each and every week. His “Front Page News” is a big hit here at Top40 and on the AC40 format as well. Please consider all of the above when we get ready to announce our New Music Awards Nominations.

The American Idol franchise is alive and well as Maddie Poppe breaks at radio with a new gem. “Not Losing You” (Hollywood) is an excellent track and deserves your immediate attention. The ever-fabulous Goo Goo Dolls are still back at it and the AC format just loves to see that. “Indestructible” (WB/WEA) is the new track that pretty much describes their stellar career. Lukas Graham is becoming quite the star at the format. Many are raving about his new and exciting “Lie” (Warner Music) that should break to top chart status. The always talented American Authors are back at the format after taking a little time off. You would never know it as their “Bring It On Home” (Island/Republic) seems as if they have never left us. Charlie Puth has been having an amazing few years at radio. He takes the new single “I Warned Myself” (Atlantic) out for a spin and our music and programs directors are all over this one big time. Newcomer Alec Benjamin is on the way to musical greatness. “Must Have Been The Wind” (Atlantic) is the one that many music critics are raving about and for good reason, it’s something quite impressive. Benny Marsella has a new song at radio and it’s becoming quite the chart climber. “A Special Kind Of Love” (Scheherazade) ranked at the top of the “most added” and was a #1 debut recently. Now this heartfelt song is racing to the top of the charts and in record time. Keane has a good thing going and make no mistake about that. “Love Too Much” (Polydor/Island) is the jam that I’m talking about and what a killer track. The multi pairing of Chainsmokers & Illenium w/Lennon Stella is the talk of the music world. “Takeaway” (Disruptor/Columbia) is the cut that you need to jump on sooner than later. Skylar Grey is lighting up the music world with a new and powerful gem. Everybody is loving the just breaking “New Kind Of Love” (Virgin/EMI). Did I mention earlier that the American Idol franchise is live and well? So says Adam Lambert who is pulling in some rather amazing numbers with the new “Superpower” (More Is More/Empire). Matt Williams has a new gem on his hands and make no mistake about that. “Used” (DJ) is the one that is breaming fast and furious. Post Malone takes the single “Circles” (Republic/UMG) out for a spin and many of you radio people know just what I’m talking about. Celine Dion is back with another masterpiece. On the verge of retirement this time out “Imperfections” (Columbia) may delay this all a bit. The paring of Dan + Shay with Justin Bieber is the “talk of the town”. “10,000 Hours” (Warner Music Nashville) is so hot that you better make some room at the very top for this monster jam. Rhett May is also pulling in numbers that are something to marvel. This Australian rock star is getting big time support for his recent “Cocktails & Cannabis” (Indie). This track has #1 written all over it so make sure you remember my words in the coming month. Twenty One Pilots are still one of the top bands on the nation. “The Hype” (Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic/WMG) is the gem that needs your immediate attention. Maren Morris has now been embraced to mainstream after breaking at Country and she shows you just why as her current “The Bones” (Columbia Nashville) makes waves. Garrett Young is back with one of his best in “Stray Cat Call” (West Coast Collective). It’s getting ever so close to the top spot and we are so thrilled for him. Joy Mover continues her winning ways and she shows it very well each and every week. “Heaven In Your Heart” is now on its way to becoming her very next chart topper. Watch for big moves to come for this amazing song. Joe Taylor is taking the AC40 format by storm. His new “I Can’t Make You Love” shows us just what a great singer/songwriter he is. From Canada to New York, Joe has paid his dues and with help from producer extraordinaire Bob Tucker, good rewards are about to happen. Billy F. Otis is getting ever so close to the top with his brilliant “Fantasy Across The Room” (CVB). Eileen Carey continues her #1 ways with “Meet Me Halfway” (RolleyCstr Music). Total Life has reached #1 with their amazing “A Great Love”. Ashley Best is a crossover hit with his powerful “Nothing Ever Seems To Do”.

Remember the last time you went to a chain restaurant to celebrate someone’s birthday and the restaurant’s staff substituted a restaurant’s unique hand clapping “happy birthday” song for the traditional song? Did you give any thought as to why they didn’t use the traditional song?

Well, consider one further fact: A reported $2,000,000 in licensing fees have been paid annually to Warner Music Group who claims copyright ownership since a 1988 acquisition of several musical holdings which included the well known 120 year old “Happy Birthday to You” song. However, many dispute Warner’s copyright claim, arguing that the song is in “public domain”, available to anyone to use a musician, at some point, the city of withoutIffeeyou’re payment. MUSIC BIZ Cardi B and Offset’s Daughter Kulture Makes Stage Debut Cardi B’s daughter Kulture made her stage debut on Wednesday as the pair joined rapper Offset at the third instalment of the Billboard Hip-Hop Live concert series. The couple welcomed the tot last July, and have shared several sweet clips of them spending quality time together on their respective Instagram accounts. But fans attending the Migos star’s gig at the Sony Hall in New York were thrilled when Bodak Yellow rapper Cardi took to the stage with her daughter in her arms, as she joined her beau to perform her verse from their track Clout. Wearing Louis Vuitton slippers and grey sweats, the star held baby Kulture in her right arm with the microphone effortlessly in her left. “That’s my wife, it’s the best thing in the world,” Offset said of sharing the stage with Cardi. “That’s the best.” Shortly after giving birth, Cardi teased fans at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards when she appeared on stage in a billowing red gown and a pink bundle in her arms. “I got a little surprise for you,” she teased, with fans anticipating the rapper would be carrying her then five-week-old daughter. However, she soon unwrapped the blanket to reveal she actually had a Moon Person - the iconic VMA trophy - wrapped in the bundle.

Charlie Puth Emotional As Courteney Cox Hands Him Gift

Charlie Puth had to dial back his emotions during a recent interview with Friends star Courteney Cox when she handed him her mug from the show. Puth grew up a huge fan of the sitcom and he never missed an episode, so Billboard editors decided to see just how good his Friends knowledge is and called in an expert to quiz him during a 15-minute online segment. Cox asked him to sing the lyrics to Smelly Cat, which Lisa Kudrow’s character Phoebe Buffay sang on the show, and name a favourite recipe she cooked for her TV husband Matthew Perry - a question he got wrong. But she declared him a “winner” at the end of the quiz and as Puth stood up to perform the Friends theme tune, she handed him a very special prize, explaining it was her cup from the show, which had been “by my bed since show wrapped”. As Charlie fought back tears, Cox added, “Well, you should cry because this is everything!” She then asked, “Are you really crying?”, prompting the See You

Selena Gomez Confirms New Music With Cryptic Social Media Posts

Selena Gomez sent fans into frenzy when she confirmed her new album is ready for release on social media. The singer is gearing up to drop her first full collection since 2015’s Revival, and has started teasing fans with promotional glimpses. On Wednesday, Selena took to Instagram to share a childhood photo of herself with the lyric-worthy caption: “We always go into it blindly.” Within minutes, followers flocked to the comments to question whether the star was teasing new music, and it wasn’t long until their suspicions were confirmed. Alongside a black-and-white snap of the Wolves singer behind a veil, she later shared the line, “Rose coloured glasses all distorted”, before going on to share two more posts in conjunction with streaming service Spotify and Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa. “I saw the signs and I ignored it. @spotify,” she captioned a video of a theatre with the words emblazoned on the front sign, while a second clip showed an ad featuring her and Amazon Music at New York’s Times Square, with the caption: “Ask Alexa to follow me.” Amazon music later shared a tweet reading, “RETWEET IF YOU WANT NEW #SELENAGOMEZ”, with the hashtag: “#SelenaIsBack.” When a fan asked when the music was dropping, they simply responded with the eyes emoji. Back in June, Selena told U.S. late night host Jimmy Fallon her new album was finished, adding: “It took me four years now to even feel at a good place with this album... I just kept going.”

Bruce Springsteen To Finish New Album And E Street Band Tour Soon

Bruce Springsteen will finish his new album and plot a tour with the E Street Band once he wraps promo on his upcoming music documentary. The 70-year-old rocker has been busy with his directional debut, ‘Western Stars - which he helmed with the help of Thom Zimny - and he’s joked he’ll be back to the “day job” once the movie is released on October 25. Asked what’s next for him, he told The Sun newspaper: “I got to go back to the day job, you know, got to pay the bills. “We’ll work on the record and after we get it done, we’ll start to book some dates. “One, two, three, four! The highway’s

jammed with broken heroes on a last-chance power drive.” The ‘Dancing In The Dark’ rocker recently admitted that while he was struggling to write anything for his iconic group of musicians, he had a sudden spark of creativity which has prompted him to put plans in place for another trip on the road. He said: “I’ve spent about seven years not writing anything for the band. I couldn’t write anything for the band. “And then about a month or so ago, I wrote almost an album’s worth of material for the band and it came out of just... I mean I know where it came from, but at the same time, it just came out of almost nowhere. “I had almost two weeks of those daily visitations and it was so nice. “It makes you so happy. You go, ‘Fine, I’m not f***ed.’ There’ll be another tour.” The Boss also opened up on why he feel “darkness” is so appealing to artists, and revealed he still revisits his hometown of Long Branch, New Jersey to reflect. He explained: “If you’re an artist, the darkness is always more interesting than the light. It’s nice when you let the light in at the end of something, but I was always interested in what were the things that didn’t go right. “I had a habit - I would drive back to my hometown and I would do this over and over again and I used to ask myself, ‘what am I coming back here for?’ And I still do it.”

James Arthur Is Considering Moving Into Acting After

The ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ hitmaker would love his third record ‘You’ - the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Back from the Edge’ - which was released today (18.10.19) to top the charts and has admitted that he’ll likely jump careers once he’s satisfied his thirst for playing arenas. He admitted: “I feel like I have a lot more in me. I’d like this record to be a No.1, sell out a couple more arena tours then maybe call it a day and move into acting.” James’ new 17-track record saw him tick off a major wish on his “bucket list”, getting Blink-182’s drummer Travis Barker on a track. The ‘I Miss You’ sticksman appears on the album’s title track. James told the Metro newspaper: “I’m a huge fan of Blink-182. “It’s what I grew up on. “I was like, ‘Get him to play on any of my songs.’ “He loved it. It was a thing ticked off my bucket list.” The record also features another rock legend, Taking Back Sunday’s Adam Lazzara, who appears on ‘Unconditionally’. The 31-year-old star has made no secret of his plans to want to start acting and he’s also been searching for a country

abode in Surrey as he would love to settle down and start a family. He said: “I do like the sound of that. I am 31 now. I have lived in London for the last five years. I am ready for my house in the countryside. I have been looking at places in Surrey.” The ‘Impossible’ hitmaker - who shot to fame when he won ‘The X Factor’ in 2012 - previously admitted he feels “overlooked” as a singer. The ‘Empty Space’ hitmaker feels like his music career is limited because he came from the TV talent show, and although he’s proud of what he’s achieved thanks to the show, he wants to explore other ways of expressing his creativity and thinks acting is in his future. He said: “Sometimes I feel like there’s only so far I can go when you take into consideration where I came from, you know, I can only feel like I’m gonna be overlooked for so long in this field. It’s amazing what I’ve been able to do since ‘The X Factor’ and sometimes I feel like I kind of used to make music for myself and to inspire other people and my competitive ego sometimes gets in the way. Acting is a good, pretending to be other people and exploring another avenue of creativity.”

Ariana Grande Keen To Sample Kylie Jenner In A Song

Ariana Grande has registered her interest in sampling Kylie Jenner in one of her future songs, after the reality TV star hit headlines by debuting her singing talent. The make-up mogul was seen singing the words “Rise and shine” to her daughter Stormi during a tour of her company’s offices last week. The clip quickly became a meme, with Ariana responding on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday sharing a clip of herself crooning the line. “@kyliejenner can i sample,” she wrote, leading Kylie to reply: “Yes, yes you can @arianagrande. As long as I’m in music video.” Of course, Kylie wouldn’t be the only member of her family to appear in one of Ariana’s videos if the prospect went ahead - her mum Kris Jenner starred in the video for Thank U, Next. Kylie’s sweet singing voice debut comes just weeks after chart-topping British singer Charli XCX tipped the 22-year-old for success in the music industry, telling Dazed magazine: “Kylie Jenner would be an incredible popstar. The aesthetic would be so good. Imagine a Kylie Jenner album produced by (Scottish producer) SOPHIE! “The songs would be iconic,

there’d be really good club moments on there. Then there’d also be a really emotional song about her daughter and it would be really heartfelt and real.”

Charli XCX Working On Fourth Album

The 27-year-old singer dropped her third studio album ‘Charli’ last month, but she told fans there will not be a deluxe version of the record coming anytime soon because she is too busy making her next album. She wrote on Twitter: “Yesterday Charli was 1 month old!!!! Thank u for all the love for this album. If there was a deluxe version the cover would probs be something like this- lol (there isn’t a deluxe, I’m already making the next one tbh). Anyways... stream Charli! (sic)” But things didn’t go smoothly with Charli’s third album - the follow-up to 2014’s ‘Sucker’ - with some of the record leaked online in 2017, resulting in her re-writing the album. Charli recently admitted the leak had “really affected” her. She said: “You say a few songs here and there, it was all my songs ever made.” However, the ‘I Love It’ hitmaker can understand why her fans would do it - but it made her feel like she had no ownership over her own music. She added: “They feel they just want the music and that leaking it is helping me. “I didn’t really talk about it because I didn’t want to encourage more of it, but you know, having your work stolen is really sad. “It made me feel like I didn’t own it anymore. “I think it really affected me quite a lot.” ‘Charli’ features collaborations with the likes of Lizzo (‘Blame It On Your Love’), Christine and the Queens (‘Gone’), Haim (‘Warm’) and two with Troye Sivan (‘1999’ and ‘2099’).

Niall Horan Would Love To Collaborate With Selena Gomez

The ‘Slow Hands’ hitmaker has quashed rumours he’s anything more than friends with the ‘Wolves’ singer but said he’d be down for teaming up on a song together. Responding to rumours the pair are dating, he said: “People are fickle. Aren’t they? They don’t know whether they want us to date or go on a song together. m “I mean that would be great. She’s obviously a talented girl. And she’s a really good friend of mine.” The Irish star has channelled the heartbreak from his split from ex-girlfriend Hailee Steinfeld into his upcoming second album - the follow-up to 2017’s ‘Flicker’

The BRIT Award-winning UK singer, songwriter, and artist continues to make waves on both sides of the pond. Billboard profiled him with an in-depth feature and praised What A Time To Be Alive as a “14-song collection of heartfelt lyrics, striking guitar and striking vocals.” He also delivered a standout performance of the breakout single “Just You & I” on The Late Late Show with James Corden. After its debut on March 1, What A Time To Be Alive spent 11 consecutive weeks on the UK Top 10 album chart. Meanwhile, the album put up impressive numbers across the board. “Leave A Light On” has tallied 500 million-plus cumulative streams and 143 million views thus far and soared to #1 in 20 countries. The follow-up “Just You And I” surpassed 313 million streams. Topping off the year, he garnered the ASCAP Vanguard Award, placing him in good company with previous honorees such as Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris, to name a few. Walker also received his first-ever honor at the prestigious 2019 BRIT Awards—cementing him among an elite club of honorees including Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Dua Lipa, and more. Don’t miss him live!

Rising country singer-songwriter Kurt Stevens released his new single “Once In A Blue Moon,” today across all streaming platforms. The beachy jam draws inspiration from his coastal upbringing and premiered with Sounds Like Nashville, who dubbed it “a feel good tune” “set to an undeniably infectious beat.” When you listen to Kurt Stevens’ music, you hear his passion for life and feel his relaxed, beachy style. “Life is meant to be shared with others,” says Stevens. “I want my music to help people connect, share emotions, and realize we are all in the same boat.”

Big Loud Records’ riser SEAN STEMALY gets lost in a whirlwind memory on new track, “Last Night All Day,” letting a night of heartson-fire passion replay over and over in his mind. With its loping Country beat and the wide-open sonics of a modern Western, the rhythmic song shows a new facet of the newcomer’s sound and is available everywhere now. “I’ve been pretty pumped about putting this one out because it’s different,” shares Stemaly. “It’s got a Western swing to it that’s still modern and fresh. I hope people relate to it, dance to it, jam to it in their cars — it’s a new sound for me and I’m proud to have my name on it.” For more information about Sean Stemaly, please visit seanstemaly.com

MUSIC BIZ - and he teased he’s very close to finishing the record. Niall told ‘ET Canada’: “I just have to like get down to what songs are actually on this album. I like too many of them. I’m about two songs off of full completion. “When I was writing this album I tried to get all the feelings that you have after a break up. “If that’s my centre point. Then I can just write different songs around that. “That’s the kind of idea I was doing. “Like some nights you feel like you wanna go out with your friends and wreck the place. And then like other days you’re really sad.” So far, Niall has released lead single ‘Nice To Meet Ya’, which was inspired by a brief flirtation he had with a woman during a night out. He said recently: “The lyrics came about from a half-true story. I was out one night and locked eyes with this girl. We got chatting, and she was with a group of her mates and I was with a group of my mates. It felt like every time I turned around - like the lyric says - she just kind of disappeared. But then over the course of the same night, in different bars around that same area, we would bump into each other. It’s a song that is basically like a movie that is based on a true story, and then you start changing stuff that makes the song start to sound a little bit more interesting.”

Bebe Rexha Says She Has Nothing To Prove To ‘Anybody’

The ‘Meant To Be’ hitmaker shared a steamy snap wearing only a thong to celebrate her 30th birthday over the summer, and she admitted it felt “great” to embrace herself and enjoy feeling “confident”. Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, she said: “It felt great. I think for me it was like this is just who I am and I can do this and I think we’ve come to [an] incredible place as [females]. “If I would have posted that 30 years ago, who knows [if it] would have gotten that love? I just feel like at this point in my life I feel confident and I don’t really have to prove anything to anybody.” Despite receiving overwhelming support from her fans, Bebe still faced backlash from online trolls, and she responded with a defiant social media put down back in August. She wrote on Twitter at the time: “Yes I am a slut, a freak, a whore, a b***h. ALL OF THE ABOVE. “Btw for all the men judging my pic and hating on it for being too much. Just remember, your mother had sex to have you. (sic)” The racy photo showed the star doing the splits on the bathroom floor wearing only a thong, showing her breast and applying her makeup in a handheld mirror. She captioned the picture: “This is what 30 looks like. Happy Birthday to me! Self love. Body positivity. Unapologetically me. #Not20Anymore (sic)” Meanwhile, Bebe previously revealed it hasn’t been easy to learn to love herself for who she is and says it is a “constant task” to keep those positive feelings going. She said: “I think self-love is a constant task. You have to learn how to say nice things to yourself and I feel like we always say nice things to other people but we never really say nice things to ourselves. So that was something that I had to work on and it was being at a low and just kind of switching it on.”

Big Sean Has Tapped Post Malone, A$AP Rocky, Meek Mill & More For Upcoming Album

‘I Decided’ - which will see the star get real about being diagnosed with heart disease as a teenager and family. Malone and Rocky feature on the track ‘Wolves’, which Sean says is about his family being close like a pack of wolves. He explained: “[That song is about] my family growing up. “Everybody’s in there, my grandma, my mom, my brother — it’s like they were a pack of wolves and they were the sweetest and strongest. It’s one of my favourites on the album.” Rocky also features on another song with Atlanta rapper MadeinTYO. He said: “Rocky had a verse on [‘Wolves’ originally], but he ended up doing the verse to another song that he and I felt fit a little better with the album. “That’s another song I got with MadeinTYO. But I just kept it dialed-in throughout.” The track ‘Lucky Me’ sees the ‘Bounce Back’ star open up about his battle with heart disease and how his mother’s holistic medicine helped mend him. Recalling a scary moment when he was rushed to the emergency room after passing out, Sean told Entertainment Weekly: “I couldn’t even walk from one side of the room to the other without getting super-tired. I passed out once in the shower and got rushed to the emergency room.” On the song, he raps: “Lucky me, I was diagnosed with a heart disease at 19. “Doctors said they had to cut it open put a pacemaker on it to put it back on beat / ‘Til my mother took me to holistic doctors and they prescribed me magnesium for two weeks / Went back to the regular doctors and they said, ‘Huh? damn, looks like we don’t need to proceed.’” There is also a brief cameo from Mill and Diddy on another song. He said: “There’s a song where Meek Mill just says two lines, and Puff had a couple of lines.”

Award-winning, Nashville-based recording artists and producers, Louis York have released their anticipated debut full-length, American Griots – The Album today on all digital and streaming platforms. Following on the heels of their vulnerable new single “Don’t You Forget” and inspirational cover of Des’ree’s 1994 smash “You Gotta Be (Reimagined),” American Griots – The Album features 13-new tracks all of which encompass themes surrounding love, happiness, and wellness. The new album features a bevy of stand-out tracks all of which were written and produced by Harmony and Kelly. The thought provoking “I Wonder,” features Nashville poet Caroline Randall Williams, and tackles a wider message about the world at large, evoking a conversation on what activist predecessors would have thought about culture in 2019.

Singer/songwriter Don McLean was celebrated during the taping of ‘The Song - Recorded Live at TGL Farms,’ a new television series which will begin airing in January. Throughout McLean’s career artists including Garth Brooks, Madonna, Drake, Josh Groban, Weird Al Yankovic, and others have recorded songs written by the Songwriter Hall of Fame member. Plaques certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for gold, platinum, and multi-platinum sales in the United States as well as presentations from Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom were bestowed on McLean. “As a songwriter your songs are like your children, and you are hopeful everyone loves them as much as you do, but rarely is that the case. I am so grateful that songs I have written have touched so many lives and have been recorded by so many great artists,” says McLean. “Today’s presentation has truly blown me away as I never realized the success that my songs have brought to these amazing people.” in Nashville. “’Gold to Glitter’ is about watching the golden sunset turn into the glittery, star-filled, wide-open night sky that I grew up under,” she says. “Sunset has always been my favorite time of day, and the sunsets I grew up watching were spectacular.” Appropriately, “Gold to Glitter” is a shimmering, anthemic track, with a chorus as big as the nighttime sky itself. Meanwhile, “Money’s All Gone” is a guitar-driven rocker that rushes forward at highway speed, with Dunn’s fretwork on the electric guitar matching her powerful vocals. The song’s classic rock swagger nods to Bob Seger, who hand-picked Dunn to serve as the opening act on a recent arena tour, as well as her longtime heroes the Rolling Stones.

modern man — a GRAMMY-, Emmy-, and TW renaissance ARTIST SINGLE Oscar-winning rapper, activist, actor, and New York Times Bestselling author — is fresh off the release of his “exquisite” (People) new album, Let Love (out now on Loma Vista), which Stereogum calls “one of his most personal, raw collections.” Hindsight Records To Release ‘With Love’ From Doris Day Hindsight Records in partnership with Select-O-Hits will release ‘With Love’, featuring rare recordings from the great Doris Day. The incredibly intimate and authentic recordings from 1952 and 1953, including The Page Cavanaugh Trio, were not previously available for release and were originally created for radio broadcast use. Around 1980 Thomas Gramuglia, president of Hindsight Records, contacted the late Bobby Weiss (who was Doris’s publicist) to see if Doris would allow the release of the recordings as a CD, and she graciously agreed. What stood out was the fact that Doris had chosen some of her favorite songs, done in an easy, relaxed atmosphere, with no pressure of trying to make them hits. Later, legendary drummer and producer Les Brown Jr. approached Gramuglia and asked what he thought about augmenting these incredible recordings with a full orchestra. After hearing the quality of Doris’s voice and her wonderful, relaxed, easy interpretation of each song, he was blown away. Brown jumped at the chance to participate in presenting them to a new audience. Brown was also asked to perform the drum

tracks for these recordings, as the original versions LABEL consisted of just piano, bass and guitar. This release is the result of a labor of love by many with respect to the sometimes underrated, but always exceptional actress, musician and singer that was Doris Day.

Nipsey Hussle’s Family Granted Custody Of 10-Year-Old Daughter

Nipsey Hussle’s family have been granted custody of the late rapper’s 10-year-old daughter Emani. Emani’s mother Tanisha Foster had been at war with the slain rapper’s immediate family over who should be granted legal guardianship of the youngster, after the Double Up star’s next of kin claimed she was an unfit mother. According to TMZ, a judge ruled earlier this week that Nipsey’s siblings Samantha Smith, Sam Asghedom and another person named Angelique Smith are to look after his daughter, after providing sufficient evidence against Tanisha. It is unknown what kind of arrangement will be put in place regarding visitation with Emani’s mother. Meanwhile, singer and actress Lauren London has won approval to manage her and Nipsey’s son Kross’ inheritance, after he picked up half of his late father’s fortune. Emani will inherit the other half of her father’s fortune. Nipsey was shot and killed outside his Los Angeles clothing store in March. His alleged killer, Eric Holder, is awaiting trial.

Sam Hunt is back at the Country format with a track that could be considered one of his best yet. “Kinfolks” (MCA Nashville) is fast becoming a real monster single and has been ranking at the top of the “most added” list for a few weeks now. Gabby Barrett is keeping the American Idol dream alive and well. “I Hope” (WMN) is the single from her that is getting a real thumbs up from radio and our music and program directors. She is a real true talent and we are thrilled to see her get the support that she so deserves. Although it’s a little too early to predict, so far so good for the fast-rising Gabby Barrett. George Strait is back on track at radio and everybody is pretty happy about that. The current single “The Weight Of The Badge” (MCA Nashville) keeps George on radio and in a more current state. Watch for some big weeks ahead for this one. Chris Young is pulling in some rather strong numbers across the board for his current. “Drowning” (RCA/RLG). Shane Owens is also getting lots of love and respect from radio and there is more to come. “Hard Luck Girl” (AmeriMonte) is the jam that really and truly deserves your immediate attention. Better yet, just give it some spins and watch the phones light up. Lauren Alaina puts another feather in the American Idol franchise, and they are thrilled over there to be sure. “Getting Good” (19 Recordings/Mercury Nashville) is her latest and greatest and with her being a lead runner on this year’s Dancing With The Stars” this will no doubt help in rocking the vote all across the USA. Florida Georgia Line are back with yet another solid entry. “Blessings” (Big Machine) is the latest from them and it appears to be well on its way giving them yet another hit single at Country. Little Big Town are also back and that is always a welcome sight. “Over Drinking” (Capitol Nashville) is the latest from them and what a great song this is indeed. I’m so happy for them. Garrett Young is rocking the Country charts again as he keeps building his fan base from coast to coast. “Stray Cat Call” (West Coast Collective) is his latest and greatest and what a fun and up-tempo this gem is. The Ashley Sisters are pulling in some rather impressive numbers for their “Crush” (GKM) single, so you may want to spend some time on that one. The Big Riggs Band is breaking fast all over the radio as their “She’s A Small Town” (DJ) takes flight. Clay Union is also pulling in some rather impressive adds and spins for the single “Homegrown” (Dirt Hill). Might be time to give that a few spins my good people. Justin Moore has got a real winner on his hands and make no mistake about that. “ Why We Drink” (Valory Music/Big Machine) has to be one of his best to date and the early numbers are telling the tale. Matt Williams has a new single that everybody is raving about. “Used” (DJ) is the track that is setting the Country world on-fire. One of our new favorites in Arvie Bennett Jr has another winner. “Where He Found Me” (Indie) is a heartfelt song that is sung with much love and you need to get on that one fast. The pairing of Carly Pearce & Lee Brice appears to be working wonders at the format. “I Hope You’re Happy Now” (Big Machine) is so good that you just can’t put it down. There’s a new song out and about from Ron Ramsey Jr that also deserves your immediate attention. “Comin’ Back Home” (Independent) is his debut to our charts and what a solid winner this one is from start to finish. Direct from Owensboro, KY he has a Hit people. Ashley Best is rocking with his best to date and make no mistake about that. His brother actually told him that his current “Nothing Ever Seems To Do” would be a hit and what do you know, better listen to your brother Ashley. The follow-up to his chart topping “Cowboy”, this one is actually doing even better. Joey Canyon has a new single out and about that is one of his best to date. “Take Me Back” (Glo-Dot) is the one to watch to be sure. Eileen Carey continues her winning ways as her latest “Meet Me Halfway (RolleyCstr) gives her yet another #1. All of the above should be considered when voting for our up and coming New Music Awards. See you in Nashville if you are in town.

C arrie Underwood is no stranger to the word “reality.” After all, as the winner of the 2005 season of “American Idol,” she won the hearts of millions of viewers across the world. Now, the singer has entered into a promotion that is sure to please her fan following. S ony Music Nashville and Aurasma, the world’s leading augmented reality platform, have partnered to launch an augmented reality promotional campaign for Underwood’s No. 1 album, “Blown Away,” which was released in May. U sing the free Aurasma Lite app for iPhones, iPads and Android devices available from the iTunes App Store and Google Play, fans can launch exclusive video of Underwood that is triggered by aiming the device at the cover image of Blown Away. The video leaps from the Blown Away image on the mobile device or tablet and provides a click-through gateway to the album at the iTunes store. The promotion was launched in Nashville recently at the CMA Music Festival.

“ Carrie Underwood is always looking for ways to connect with her fans,” said Gary Overton, Sony Music Nashville chairman and chief executive officer. “We are excited to embrace a cutting-edge technology like augmented reality to help give fans something special and provide a cool, unique connection between the artist and audience. Sony Music Nashville is excited to watch this fun idea unfold and is eager to partner with Aurasma on other future campaigns.” U pon its release on May 1, “Blown Away” made history by debuting at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country albums sales chart making Underwood only the second country artist in the 47 year history of the chart to have each of their first four albums debut at No. 1. “Blown Away” also debuted at No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart making Underwood only the second country artist in history to have three consecutive albums debut at No. 1. “Blown Away” became country’s best-selling digital album debut since 2010. “ Carrie Underwood is a proven superstar. We are thrilled to partner with Sony Music Nashville to help increase the momentum of her smash album Blown Away,” said Jennifer Rapp, general manager of Aurasma. “By leveraging augmented reality to bridge the physical and virtual worlds, Sony gives the fans something exclusive and special, helping to keep fans connected and Carrie in the spotlight.” T he free Aurasma app runs on iPhone 3GS (and above), iPad2 (and above), and high-powered Android devices. Y esterday, Underwood performed the first of four concerts on the Australian leg of her tour to promote “Blown Away.” She kicked things off in Melbourne, and will perform in Tamworth and Brisbane on Friday and Saturday, before finishing things in Sydney on Sunday. Also, Underwood has just released the title cut as the second single -- to follow up the chart-topping success of “Good Girl,” which became her fifteenth number one record.

Country Date To Remember: February 11, 1962 Somewhere, around Fenton, Mo, there are some students who can say that they had one of music’s sexiest performers as a teacher. Sheryl Crow - long before she hit it big in 1993 with “All I Wanna Do,” was actually a music teacher at Kellison Elementary School. Though her teaching days in school are long over, Crow - who turns an amazing 50 years old today has educated many of her fans about some of Country Music’s greatest performers, such as Loretta, Hank, and Johnny Cash. Happy Birthday to one of Rock’s top women! NMW - OCTOBER 18, 2019

5 Types of Music

That Can Help Reduce Stress by Ronald Ross

M

usic is an effective tool to reduce stress. Why? Because it’s soothing. Our heart can feel the music and link to our emotions reducing our stress hormones and leaving us relaxed. That’s the power of music. There are different forms of music that you could choose from and set your mood to ease your day out. Here is a list of the top five types of music you can listen:

1. Classical Music Not only it helps you keep in touch with your roots, it has some amazing benefits too. A study proves that classical music helps fight depression and relieve pain. So why take medications when music can do it for you. In fact, listening to classical music before bed can put you to sleep and improve your sleep quality. It also helps decrease your blood pressure and keep your heart healthy. And yes, if you are thinking of ways to lighten up your creative side go for some classical music.

2. Rock Music You may think of rock music as something too loud but it actually helps you make healthier and happier. Music could be your best companion while you work out. Try it out the next time you go to gym. Its fast tempo pushes you and involves you so much that you forget the physical pain you are going through. According to a study, regularly attending rock concerts increases your levels of life satisfaction. Why only listen to rock when you are a hidden Rockstar! Researches have also shown that learning to play music instruments helps increase your memory. Checkout the reviews of various musical instruments like bongo drums, piano, violin and pick one of your choice for your first performance!

3.

Instrumental Music

Listening to purely instrumental music has its own benefits. If you plan to hear some music while at work this one is a good choice. The background music alone without any words helps you focus better at work. Whether it’s your ‘me time’ deep in your thoughts or during your yoga session you can have this music create a peaceful environment for you. This kind of music is appropriate for meditation. It soothes your mind and helps release stressful thoughts.

4.

Hip Hop Music

We often wonder why do rappers always appreciate themselves? That’s the part of this genre. Listening to such kind of music motivates you to know your value. When you feel low, listen to some rap to realize that your uniqueness is your strength! It energizes you and makes you believe in yourself. Listening to this kind of music helps boost your blood circulation and keep your body healthy; increasing your capacity to exercise.

5.

Electronic Dance Music

EDM is not just about listening to music but hitting the dance floor as well. You not only burn calories but a new research shows that when we dance together in a group, we tend to increase our limits for dealing with pain. You solely enjoy the music and dance in the crowd. Everyone’s dance moves are so different but emotions so similar! Electronic Dance music has proven to give a lot of positive energy to people who suffer from mood disorders. It suppresses their anxiety or depression and adds meaning to their life.

M

usic really is something that can truly relax your mind and act as an effective stress management tool. Even singing can make

you feel better. If you think you not good at singing, then try karaoke mic and enjoy singing. I bet once you fall into the ocean of music you would love to drown in it and that makes me think, Plato rightly said- “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”
