t sounds like an old joke: Before fax machines and internet email, how did real estate agents get the deal done? The answer, says a droll Rob Dury, “We drove everywhere!” He has been in the Newmarket-Aurora real estate business for thirty-eight years, and obviously still prefers the personal touch as he took on the task of phoning well over 100 people to invite them to last Thursday’s social real estatee gathering at Orlean’s Restaurant. That evening over 110 real estate agents, current and former, happily gathered for a reunion

centred around those who had worked at Shea Real Estate/Family Trust, Armstrong Real Estate, Case Real Estate, and Simcoe Real Estate in the 70’s and 80’s. Rob, a former president of the York Region Real Estate Board, is now a sales representative at ReMax Omega Realty and works alongside broker John Coffey. John thought it was time for an event that would get the old gang together

(before another funeral!) and celebrate 75 Board members who had passed on. Rob loved the idea, and it was they, along with friends Graham Lloyd, a broker at Royal LePage York North Realty, and Carol Lemire, who pulled off this huge reunion. While it’s true that many attendees work now for competing real estate companies and regularly vie for a buyer’s or seller’s business, underneath there is a camaraderi rie that runs deep. The group observed a moment of silence to remember those in the business who hhave passed on. That quiet moment though w was followed by a big cheer led by John in th their memory – something Rob says they w would have appreciated.
