Meet the Auctioneer Upon college graduation, Bob Melvin (WI #2834) jumped into the corporate world to lend his outgoing personality and newly earned management degree to two Fortune 500 companies, ServiceMaster and Pepsi-Cola. Thirteen years later, he found himself bored to tears. A chance conversation at church led him to his passion. “Ever considered becoming an auctioneer, Bob?” asked the president of a local firm. “Doesn't everyone?” was Bob's wisecrack response. After more serious consideration and due diligence, Bob enrolled in auction school and worked to develop his signature chant. In 1999, less than ten years later, he celebrated winning a state auctioneer championship. As a team member of benefit auctioneer Sherry Truhlar (WI #2740-52), Bob works with schools and non-profits around the country, guiding volunteers and planners in producing profitable fundraising auctions.
