Let's take a short look at what's on your park district agenda in the near future. As always, your recreation department has numerous programs to chose from (just look at this catalog), but let's take a minute to highlight a few. For ages 10-17, we offer a new "Adrenaline Rush Challenge", for our teenagers, we offer "Sand Volleyball and Softball Tournaments", "Wii Bowling" and "Drop-In Bocce Ball" for the senior crowd, and we now have trolling motors to go along with boat rentals at Hibernia Park. Hibernia Park also will now have new and improved party rental options for your family's next special event. We have also expanded the number of parks that are available for rent. We now offer Jacob Lowell Park, Firefighters Park, Haines Park, Wildflower Park, Stonebridge Park, Cherry Hill Park, Hibernia Park and Schoolhouse Manor Park. All of these parks can be reserved for your family get-togethers. Also, please don't forget that your Community Center is available for banquets and other special occasions. As far as your community golf course is concerned, we continue to make improvements to the golf course itself as well as the programs that we offer. One such program I must mention is the "Junior Golf League". This program is so popular that I believe we are the only golf course to close its doors to the general public for ten hours (6:00am-4:00pm every Tuesday during the Summer) in order to run this program. Over 400 kids, ages 7-15, have complete reign of the course. Closing the course allows our staff to focus 100% of their attention on our young participants. Please contact our golf course directly at 815.462.4653 for all the details. And we're not done yet! Your park district grounds maintenance crews, besides their daily routine of upkeeping your 30 plus parks, have plans to renovate the sand volleyball court at Wildwood Park. They will also give your popular disc golf course at Haines Park a facelift with new tee areas and signage. Proud American Days 2011 will be here before we know it. This year's festival will be held July 28th through July 31st. This year's live entertainment has been expanded with a total of six bands playing throughout the festival. Of course, all your family favorite activities will be held along with some new ones. We do hope you and your family will join us for this long-standing community festival tradition. In summary, your park district staff works hard to provide quality recreational programs at an affordable price. Please take a minute to browse through this catalog to see what programs you and your family members can enjoy. Be healthy and stay active. Sincerely, Brian Fischer Park Board President

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Now that our third worst winter blizzard in history is behind us, we can start turning our attention to the sounds of spring and the warmth of summer sunshine. Your park district staff has been busy developing, organizing and implementing all the different aspects it takes to offer the recreational programs and activities that we have been accustomed to enjoying. That is no easy task since our programs are tailored to meet the needs of all residents from pre-school age to our distinguished seniors.

If your junior cannot make the morning time, drop them off in the afternoon. We have dedicated the whole morning and most of the afternoon to Junior Golf. If they want to play more than 9 holes, drop them off early and they can play until 4:00pm, based on availability. Everyday we will run a Junior Golf lunch special for $3. This will include the special of the day and a can of pop (see menu below). During the first two weeks, we will have limited instruction on course etiquette. Remember, there isn’t any Junior Golf on Tues., July 5. The reason for this is that we are hosting the US Kids Golf Tour that day. Check out their website for details or inquire in the golf shop about US Kids Golf Tour. Day/Dates: Tues., June 7-Aug. 9 (No League July 5) Fee: $20 league pre-registration fee $10 green fees, Payable each Day

Early Childhood Program Requirements • Children must be the correct age by 9/1/11, unless otherwise specified. In order to provide your child with the best possible recreational and/or learning experience, all of our programs are planned according to the ages listed in our brochure. • Classes are for child attending only, except for classes with an adult. Parents should not remain in the classroom or gymnasium after dropping off their child. This is in the child's best interest, as continual interruptions tend to affect participant's attention span and inhibit the establishment of peer relationships. • All children must be potty-trained, unless they are attending a class where an adult stays with them or otherwise stated in the class description. Diapers are not permitted in independent classes unless stated in the class description. • Please do not bring food to any class, unless previously arranged. • For your children's safety, all children enrolled in preschool-age programs must be picked up from the specific classroom or program site by their parents or designated guardian. No child will be released from the classroom to anyone other than these individuals. • A mandatory sign-in and sign-out procedure for all participants is required for all Park District Programs.

KIDDIE KAMPUS

Kiddie Kampus 2011-2012 Ages 3-4 (as of 9/1/11) Open Registration began on March 26, 2011

What does Kiddie Kampus offer its participants? Children learn many things before going to kindergarten. The New Lenox Community Park District offers preschool classes designed to develop social, emotional and physical skills to ensure school readiness. A child's separation from parents and involvement with a non-family member is one of many major steps towards his/her development. Kiddie Kampus provides a safe and supportive environment for your child's first school experience while increasing his/her self-esteem and confidence through age appropriate instruction. Covered during the year are color, shape and number recognition, an introduction to number concepts and letter recognition. Your child's quest for learning will be nurtured through creative play, building friendships, working individually and cooperating as part of a group. These activities promote patience, sharing and the awareness that there is a whole world of people surrounding and supporting them. Songs, stories, activities and games are used for reinforcement and fun. The Stepping Stones programs are add-on activities to your child's day. These enrichment programs are designed to extend their learning adventure before and after Kiddie Kampus.

What requirements are necessary for Kiddie Kampus registration? A copy of your child's birth certificate MUST be provided at registration. A child must be four (three for the 3 year old program), on or before Sept. 1, 2011 and must be able to handle bathroom hygiene independently (potty trained, no diapers). It is very helpful if the child is able to zip/button independently. A $50.00 non-refundable registration fee, $10.00 T-shirt fee and first month's tuition will be collected, beginning Saturday, March 26, 2011 from 8:00am-11:00am, when you pre-register your child. A voter's card or tax bill is required at registration for verification of residency.

At time of registration, we are asking for a non-refundable $50 registration fee along with a T-shirt fee of $10 (if needed) and your first month's tuition. The next payment will not be due until Sept. 15, 2011. Subsequent fees are then divided into 8 equal monthly payments, due by the 15th of the previous month. A late fee of $15 will be accessed to any account that payment had not been made by that date. Payment-in-full would still be accepted if that would better suit your needs. We will waive the $50 registration fee to all accounts paid in full on the day of registration.

Lincolnway Special Recreation Association 21800 S. LaGrange Road, Frankfort, IL 60423 • Phone: 815.464.2811 • Fax: 815.464.2813 • www.lwsra.org

Lincolnway Special Recreation Association (LWSRA) has been providing adaptive recreation opportunities for individuals with disabilities through a cooperative agreement with Frankfort, Manhattan, Mokena, New Lenox and Peotone Park Districts for over 34 years. Being a member of a special recreation association, each park district is able to levy special recreation funds to financially support LWSRA and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). A variety of recreation-based activities are offered year-round for between 160 and 230 children and adults with disabilities, including services such as day camps, trips, Special Olympics, after-school programs, social programs, Paralympic sports, a fitness program for veterans with a disability, an adult day program and many other opportunities. These programs significantly heighten participants' health, well-being, and quality of life. Transportation is provided for many activities in an LWSRA paratransit bus. Programs are developed with the intention of eliminating any leisure barriers and to facilitate the participants in developing a balance of leisure and socialization skills, increasing recreation resources and opportunities and promoting knowledge and independence. Through the cooperative agreements with the park districts and other organizations, LWSRA is able to serve children and adults, in the five district area and surrounding communities, who have learning disabilities, physical impairments, cognitive disabilities, behavior problems, visual impairments, autism, multiple challenges or other special needs. All ages, ethnicities and income levels are welcomed by a friendly, well-trained staff. Inclusion aides are provided, upon request and an interview, for those who find it may be a good fit to participate, with assistance, in a regular park district program. Scholarships are available for residents needing financial support to participate in LWSRA programs.

For more information, or to request a brochure, visit www.lwsra.org or call the office at 815.464.2811. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9am until 5pm. The office is located at 21800 S. La Grange Road, Frankfort.

What is the S.T.O.P. PROGRAM? S.T.O.P. stands for Stop Trashing Our Parks. This beaver character is designed to increase awareness of a community effort to deter park vandalism. This program offers cash rewards for any information provided which leads to the apprehension of park vandals. Any individuals providing information are not required to identify themselves. It is our hope that kids of all ages can relate to this "friendly mascot" and understand that he is trying to protect the parks. Our park district now offers an introduction to this program which can be presented to schools and civic groups.
