Pritsch Cup History T he Pritsch Cup is named after the late Jon M. Pritsch, who died in 1991 at the age of 17. Pritsch was a nationally ranked junior golfer and had an impressive match play record. This invitiational event is awarded to the top junior players based on their performance during the summer on the Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour and New Jersey PGA Junior Tour. Each team consists of 12 players, with four boys and one girl representing the 16-18 age division, and four boys and one girl from the 11-15 age division. The Section’s captain determines the final two spots, one from the lower age group and one from the upper age division. The format is the same as the Ryder Cup, where juniors play a singles and four-ball match simultaneously. Each match is worth one point. The venue alternates between both the New Jersey and Philadelphia Section.

11th Annual Jon M. Pritsch Cup Sunnybrook Golf Club August 11

Captain’s Message Greg Zohovetz Director; Junior Golf and Player Development

The Jon M. Pritsch Memorial Cup is an annual event that I look forward to every season, this year being no exception. It’s exciting to see 12 of the New Jersey PGA Junior Tour’s best golfers tee it up against their counterparts from the Philadelphia Section. Typically held at premier golf facilities, this year’s competition at Sunnybrook Golf Club is guaranteed to be a thrilling experience for everyone involved. As players prepare for an intense day of matches, it is important that we don’t lose sight of why this competition was established 11 years ago. The Jon M. Pritsch

Memorial Cup is played in honor of Jon M. Pritsch, a former competitive New Jersey golfer who had an impressive match play record in his junior career, and died tragically in May of 1991 at the age of 17. To date, the Jon M. Pritsch Memorial Fund has raised over $175,000 and given over 100 scholarships to juniors who hope to pursue a career in golf. Thanks to the devotion of the Pritsch family, it is likely that the annual Pritsch Cup will continue to be the highlight of the summer for the 24 talented junior golfers representing both Sections for many years to come.

The golf season is beginning to wind down and what better way to cap off the summer season than at the 2017 Under Armour Jon M. Pritsch Cup. These Ryder Cup matches between junior golfers from Philadelphia and New Jersey showcase the best up and coming golfers in the area. These boys and girls have put in long hours, hoping their hard work pays off at the highest level for this event. We are excited to be captains for the Philadelphia Section. This year’s team could arguably be one of the strongest teams Philadelphia has put together. The list

of achievements these young men and women possess is simply amazing. All are hopeful that these talented 12 junior golfers can hoist the Pritsch Cup for a third consecutive year. We look forward to visiting one of the top facilities in the Philadelphia area at Sunnybrook Golf Club, which will be sure to put on quite a show for all involved. Best of luck to all players!
