Quality of life is about the details of everyday living. From the little things, like knowing the nearest place to pick up a pint of milk, to more important matters like finding the right school or having a health centre nearby, you need to know that the community you’re moving to will support you and your family, as well as be a pleasant place to live. So here’s some useful information about the area around Pilgrims Gate.


Outdoor Activities The location of Pilgrims Gate enjoys easy access to the surrounding countryside and rural destinations such as The Chilterns and the Millenium Country Parks. Whilst lying amidst beautiful countryside, Wixams is ideally located to take advantage of a wide range of established visitor attractions including Woburn Safari Park, Wild Britain and Gullivers Land Theme Park. Perhaps enjoy a family day out to nearby Woburn Safari Park, an award winning attraction where you can view giraffes, elephants and many others, set amidst a beautiful environment; an unparalleled close encounter with some of the worlds most magnificent and endangered animals. The Forest of Marston Vale covers 61 square miles of Bedfordshire. With a growing number of beautiful woodlands, wetlands and a wildlife and sensory garden, a conservation centre and children’s activity playground, you will be sure to find the ideal place to enjoy a leisurely walk, picnic or cycle through one of the National Cycle Networks routes running through the forest. Health Care In addition to several dental surgeries, there is a choice of health centres offering a full range of services and a selection of specialist clinics within around

two miles of the development. Further to this, facilities scheduled to be constructed within the Wixams village include a primary healthcare centre, providing even greater convenience. Transport The development is located near the A6 which provides easy access to both Bedford and Milton Keynes with their extensive leisure and shopping facilities. For commuting Pilgrims Gate leaves you spoilt for choice with recently upgraded roads providing access to the Motorway network (both M1 and A1M). For train travel Pilgrims Gate is situated close to both Flitwick and Bedford rail stations where regular trains can whisk you to London St Pancreas in under an hour. Access to the London Luton Aiport, just over 15 minutes away completes the transport picture ensuring that whatever your travel plans, they will be catered for from Pilgrims Gate. There are future plans to build a train station in Wixams which will become an intermediate stop on the Bedford to London line. The station is proposed to be built by 2014. In addition, the new transport network within Wixams puts bus stops within comfortable walking distance, and the extensive network of cycle paths makes getting around quick and easy.

Education There is a choice of pre-school provision as well as primary and secondary schools, all within easy reach of the development. Six new schools will be provided in total at Wixams village, including three lower, two middle and one upper school, an excellent provision for growing families. The settlement will also provide an offering for pre-school and childcare facilities. Shopping The fast growing exciting community within Wixams village will include all the features and amenities of a true village, including local shops. Yet,Wixams village is conveniently located just 3 miles from Bedford town centre. A thriving town boasting over 300 shops including department stores, independent outlets, shopping malls and open air markets. The shopping centre in Milton Keynes is an exciting, dynamic mix of retail and dining all under one roof. The centre links shopping to the rest of Milton Keynes’ city centre where you will find a choice of over 240 stores, the theatre district and Xscape, an action packed entertainment centre. Nearby to the development are a choice of well-known supermarkets including a small Tesco express and a Sainsbury’s for day to day convenience.

Entertainment The bustling town of Bedford, just a 15 minute drive from the development is packed full of entertainment and activities for the whole family to enjoy. The Bedford Corn Exchange plays host to a comprehensive range of entertainment for all the family including the world class Philharmonia Orchestra residency, or perhaps visit the Cecil Higgins art gallery which holds a truly international collection including works by Turner, Picasso and Warhol. There is also a Cineworld multiplex just 3 miles from the development.
