Biggleswade is a market town with a rich history on the River Ivel in Bedfordshire. The town grew up where the Great North Road crossed the river and owes its early prosperity to that highway. Inns sprang up in profusion to serve the travellers who rested here whilst coach horses were changed and the town had a fine reputation for hospitality. Nowadays, the main town centre attraction is the Market Square, which is home to the Saturday market and the monthly farmers’ market. You’ll find everything you need around the Market Square and the High Street, with a good selection of shops and services. Leisure facilities in Biggleswade include a library, sports centre and a heated indoor swimming pool, along with the River Ivel which is now an angling and pleasure river.

Around the town is a largely unspoilt countryside with many places to see. Nearby Old Warden Park is home to a Bird of Prey Centre, a restored Swiss Garden and The Shuttleworth Collection, an aeronautical and automotive museum. The Swiss Garden is a late Regency garden with many interesting things to see including a grotto and fernery, a thatched tree shelter, an Indian Pavilion, ponds and many fine specimens of shrubs and conifers, plus some remarkable trees. Road and rail links in Biggleswade are very good as the town is situated on the A1 and the station has fast trains into London on the Peterborough to Kings Cross line. North Gate Court is situated on Shortmead Street, in an ideal location for local transport and shopping facilities. A supermarket and bus stops are within 400 metres. The main town centre, with a good range of shops and banks, is within 1 kilometre. The River Ivel runs along the Western boundary of North Gate Court and many of the apartments have views and balconies overlooking the river.
