Hazlemere, once a small hamlet of the 13th Century and now a civil parish within Wycombe district, is situated in the heart of the Chiltern Hills of South Buckinghamshire. High Wycombe itself grew during the 18th and 19th Century, retaining much of its original Georgian architecture; an excellent example of this architectural period houses the High Wycombe Museum, an historic 18th Century building surrounded by peaceful gardens for your enjoyment. The modern community is now home to a selection of local shops including a post office, bank, local supermarket and boasts one of the finest butchers in the country attracting customers from far and wide. Hughenden Court has taken its name from the famous Hughenden Manor, located a few miles from Hazlemere and the home of Victorian prime minister and stateman Benjamin Disraeli from 1848 until his death in 1881. Most of his books, furniture and pictures remain in what was regarded as his private retreat. Now owned by the National Trust, the Manor is surrounded by beautiful walks through the park and Chiltern woodlands. Hazlemere’s stunning countryside provides the ideal backdrop for those who enjoy country walking and country pursuits. If your preference is shopping then the Eden shopping centre in High Wycombe would be the perfect venue, offering an array of choices, from department stores such as House of Fraser and Marks and Spencer, through to a host of cafés and restaurants to eat and relax with family and friends. Approximately 2 miles from High Wycombe, the largest town in Buckinghamshire, Hazlemere is well positioned for access to major routes into London and Oxford by the M25 and M40, reached by the local A404.
