An historic and thriving market town The popular and thriving market town of Attleborough is the perfect place for a comfortable and secure retirement. Situated between Norwich & Thetford, its origins date back to the Saxon period and it is mentioned within the Doomsday book. Located on the old route between Norfolk and London, turkeys produced locally brought prosperity to the area and were walked from Attleborough to market in London. Thousands were sold every year on Michaelmas day in the market town. Attleborough further prospered in 1896 when Gaymers the cider makers located to the town. This industry’s contribution is depicted upon the town signs. This pretty Norfolk parish town has a bustling and vibrant shopping centre set around an attractive green. Every Thursday there is a flourishing weekly market which has been established since the 1920’s.
