Outdoor activities Colville Wynd is well situated for escaping into the Lanarkshire countryside, and has several parks and open green spaces in easy reach. Just over three miles from the apartments, the superb Strathclyde Country Park offers an enormous variety of activities, from leisurely walking, cycling or horse riding through 400 hectares of delightful landscapes, enjoying the changing views, to sailing on Strathclyde Loch. There are facilities for rowing, windsurfing, canoeing, angling and water-skiing, and the Park has football pitches, jogging tracks and orienteering courses. The terrain includes a Roman fort and an historic towerhouse as well as a diversity of wildlife habitats. In addition, Strathclyde Country Park is the site of the huge M&D’s theme park, with its white-knuckle rides and indoor tropical rainforest. Leave Glasgow by the M8 motorway, following signs for Edinburgh, and carry straight on into the A8. Around five and a half miles after the end of the motorway and the start of the A8, turn left to leave the A8, then right into Woodhall Mill Road. Turn right at the T-junction to join the B7099 (Bo’ness Road) and carry straight on through the first roundabout. At the next roundabout, take the third exit to enter Main Street (A775). After around half a mile, turn left into Stevenston Road. Carry on across the railway bridge, and at the T-junction turn left into Clydesdale Street. At the roundabout, take the second exit to enter Carfin Street. Colville Wynd is on the right, around 500 yards on.
