So here’s some useful information about the area around Binfields Copse.


Eastrop Park Basingstoke


Local Roots A recently excavated Iron Age settlement in Great Binfields Copse, adjoining the development to the north, shows that the attractions of Binfields as a place to live have been recognised for more than 2500 years. The present Chineham District Centre, just to the west, was once the site of Binfields Farm and was recorded in the year 945 as ‘Becmnit Felda’, meaning ‘open ground with bent grass’. Transport Binfields has good bus links with Basingstoke town centre, with stops around 350 yards from the development and more frequent services from nearby Chineham District Centre. The M3 is just three miles away, and there are frequent train services from Basingstoke to London Waterloo, a journey time of approximately fifty minutes.

Leisure & Recreation Binfields is a superb base for enjoying long walks and natural surroundings, particularly in the woodlands of Great Binfields Copse. There are a number of gyms and leisure centres in Basingstoke, and the Aquadrome has gym and fitness facilities, competition and teaching pools and a lagoon pool with flumes and water features. Chineham Library is just a few minutes walk from Binfields, and there are also a variety of community activities from Brownies and Guides to Pilates and crafts organised through Chineham Village Hall.

Arts & Entertainment Basingstoke has a lively cultural life, with venues for live entertainment including the Anvil, Central Studio, and Haymarket theatres. There is also a tenscreen cinema within the Festival Place shopping centre.

Shopping The development is just a few minutes walk from Chineham District Centre, which includes a large 24-hour Tesco superstore, and several high street retailers including Boots, Iceland, Matalan and Brantano Footwear, as well as newsagents, a bank, dry cleaners, a travel agent, and fast food takeaways. From the M3 Leave the M3 at junction 6 and join the A339 following signs for Basingstoke. Stay on the A339 for around a mile and a quarter, passing through one roundabout, then move into the left hand lane to leave the A339 and join the A33 following signs for Reading. At the first roundabout on the A33 take the third exit, following signs for Reading, and enter Chineham. Half a mile further on, at the Binfields roundabout, take the fourth exit, signposted for Old Basing. Follow the road for just over half a mile as it curves round to the left and pass the entrance driveway to the Hampshire Court Hotel, then at the mini-roundabout turn left, and the development is just ahead.
