The Opens suffered their second defeat to lakes this season with poor discipline leading to two players sin binned the major factor in the result. The boys defended and handled the ball well but ultimately gave lakes too many opportunities to use the football, they will need to learn from their mistakes to bounce back this weekend. 19?s - M it ch ell?s Ph ysiot h er apy Despite another solid first half performance by a severely undermanned Squad due to injury and suspension the Young Bulldogs could not contain competition front runners Lakes United going down by 38 points to 4 . The score nonetheless did not represent the effort with only player from the 17s on the bench we only conceded a late freak first half try to go in at 16 to 4. Tom Storey again stood out while Noah Page , Jock Chenery , Dane Corben and Jye Jones all had improved games

REPORT: MACQUARIESCORPIONS Last weekend was not the way the Scorpions faithful wanted the day to pan out with the Scorpions going down in four of the five games against Cessnock up at a very windy and cold Cessnock. Only the Open Grade could come away with a win to keep them on track to make the semi finals.
just not there and finding it difficult to defend mistakes. Goal kicking was also a problem with the Scorpions not converting two tries with kicks coming off the uprights, which could have made a big difference late in the game.
The Ladies League Tag started the day and the Scorpions went down 62-0 to Cessnock. Once again the ladies showed great spirit, but unfortunately were no match. If commitment counts for anything this group of ladies would get gold medals for their efforts. A big thankyou to the Western Suburbs club for allowing the ladies to train with their ladies side on Tuesday night and putting on the sausage sizzle. Very much appreciated by everyone at the Scorpions. The Under 19s had a good lead at halftime and appeared to be on top, but the second half saw a complete turnaround and the boys failed to complete in the second half and couldn?t come away with the win that was vital for their chances to finish in the top three at the end of the 16 rounds of the competition. It was a similar situation for the Reserve Grade who needed to win against Cessnock to give themselves a real chance to finish in the top end of the semi finalists. It was a very hard fought and close game at halftime, unfortunately the Scorpions could not maintain the same intensity and Cessnock came away with a strong win. Hopefully this side will get a few players back from injury to assist them this week against Lakes United. It would appear that the Scorpions First Grade side is now in need of basically winning every game and relying on other results to gain a semi final spot after going down to Cessnock. No one could question the teams commitment, but execution is
