La curvatura accentuata garantisce una protezione totale dell’occhio da agenti esterni potenzialmente nocivi, quali raggi solari o insetti, ma può deformare la visuale. Per questo motivo, tutti i modelli montano lenti con base decentrata: l’asse del centro focale è perfettamente allineata con il centro focale degli occhi, ripristinando così il corretto e naturale equilibrio della visuale. Questo accorgimento impedisce la deformazione d’immagine, ed evita l’affaticamento dell’occhio.

Il policarbonato vanta buone caratteristiche ottiche, ottima resistenza agli urti e una leggerezza straordinaria.

Caratterizzato da un basso indice di rifrazione, non lascia filtrare i raggi ultravioletti. Tutte le lenti in policarbonato sono sottoposte a trattamenti d’indurimento della superficie che le rendono resistenti ad abrasioni e a solventi.

Le lenti sono sottoposte ad un trattamento che rende le superfici particolarmente lisce. La goccia d’acqua scivola via, lasciando la superficie praticamente asciutta e libera da prismi d’acqua che causano distorsioni ottiche. La visibilità è perfetta, anche in condizioni di pioggia o bagnato.

Polycarbonate offers first-rate optical features, excellent impact resistance and extraordinary lightness. It has a low refraction index and does not let ultraviolet rays filter through. All polycarbonate lenses are subjected to surface hardening treatments that make them resistant to abrasions and solvents.

The lenses undergo a treatment to make their surface particularly smooth. Drops of water slide off the lens, leaving the surface practically dry and free from the water prisms that cause distorted vision. Perfect visibility even when it is raining or the lenses are wet.

WITHOUT TREATMENT

The accentuated curvature ensures total eye protection from potentially harmful external factors, such as the sun’s rays or insects, but it may distort the field of vision. This is why all Northwave sunglasses have lenses with an off-centre base: the axis of the focal centre is perfectly aligned with the focal centre of the eyes, so the correct and natural balance of the line of vision is restored. This design feature prevents image distortion and eye fatigue.
