You don’t have to subscribe to cable or satellite services to enjoy watching television. You have a choice. Since NET signed on the air in 1954, you’ve been able to watch our high-quality programming with a simple, over-the-air antenna. Today, our four television channels are available exactly the same way. In fact, many NET viewers report that NET’s free, over-the-air signal quality is superior to cable or satellite reception. If you ONLY want to watch free, over-theair broadcast television, you only need a home antenna. If you want to watch overthe-air broadcast television AND specialty channels (sports, movies, etc.) you will need additional equipment to make it possible.

FM Radio & HD-2 Schedule Available anywhere with the NET Radio App

MONDAY-FRIDAY

‘This American Life’ Describes Life Here, Now Lacking a better description, the producers of This American Life humorously define it as a public radio show for people who may not care for public radio. The program is produced in collaboration with Chicago Public Media and airs on more than 500 public radio stations across the country, including NET. This American Life is not a news show or a talk show or a call-in show. Instead, the show tells stories that are like movies for radio – stories that are both funny and sad. It is hosted by Ira Glass. There are stories about people in dramatic situations. Things happen to them. There are funny moments and emotional moments and moments where the people in the story say interesting, surprising things about it all. It has to be surprising. It has to be fun. That’s the purpose of This American Life. Sound interesting to you? Listen to This American Life Saturdays at 2 p.m. CT and Sundays at 5 p.m. CT on NET Radio.

WATCH NET A basic setup for over-the-air and streaming services might include:

• Home antenna

to access free, over-the-air TV signals

• Streaming device

(Smart TV or other streaming media player) to access online services

• A DVR to record programming • Access to a strong internet signal • Possibly an upgraded modem and/or router For additional information, visit netNebraska. org/tvchannels or call NET’s Help Desk at 800-698-3426 during business hours.

GIVING IN HONOR OF “Any success I’ve had in life, I can point to them,” Dwain Compton said about his parents Paul and Laura Compton. “They had high morals and high scruples and I want to pay tribute to them.” Dwain recently gave a generous gift to NET’s general operating fund in honor of his parents to support quality television programs. “I had good parents and I want to do something good to help others,” he added. A sports nut, he said he watches NET Sports programs and also loves the PBS documentaries that feature overseas travel and locations where he can learn about China, Siberia and Africa. Although he traveled during the two years he was on active duty with the Marine Corps, including serving at an airfield in Japan during the Korean War, he has lived

Make a Memorial Gift

A memorial gift to NET can be a thoughtful way to remember a loved one – and an ideal way to acknowledge their passion for our future. If you know someone whose life has been touched by NET, please consider honoring them by making a gift to our organization.

Give for Today: An outright gift in a loved one's name can help fund an immediate need for NET or an upcoming project. The financial benefits include an income tax deduction and the possible elimination of capital gains tax for you.

Give for Tomorrow: A future gift through your will or living trust can include a bequest stating that a specific asset, certain dollar amount or a percentage of your estate will pass to NET at your death, in honor of your loved one.

Your memorial gift is invested with, and becomes part of an NET endowment and a distribution is made each year. Because the principal remains intact, the fund supports NET’s work in perpetuity. GOOD PARENTS most of his life within 20 miles of Fairbury. He said both parents came from pioneer families and knew struggles, but taught him to enjoy life.

“My father lost his dad when he was 13 and worked hard to farm the home place, and took a job at the Endicott brick yards, he was a terrific role model.” Dwain said he always wanted to farm and ranch and they both especially liked working with the cattle and hogs. The family’s perseverance paid off after struggling to survive the drought of the 1950s. Although televisions were scarce back then, he’ll now watch his favorite programs and enjoy hearing this phrase, “programming on NET made possible in part by a gift from the Dwain Compton Trust in honor of Paul and Laura Compton.”
