his is the biggest magazine we have ever put together, the most copies we have printed and we look forward to sharing the online magazine link more widely than ever before. So it’s been a whirlwind time and wonderful to think about how many more readers can receive this information from a phenomenal group of people in this edition all working towards bringing about more joy, more well-being and more awareness for everyone. It’s also the largest number of articles we’ve published in any one edition. And this has made me reflect on what the ‘Spirit of Christmas’ means to me; it’s when everyone pitches in and creates something special as a whole (and if you don’t celebrate Christmas, then it can be any other family or friendly gathering). It’s a joy when everyone pitches in to bring a yummy dish and adds their own ‘specialty’

It’s an amazing feeling to be part of something special and there is a ‘togetherness’ in our combined insights and energy being shared through this magazine. I would love for this edition to reach people far and wide and for more to receive the greatest gifts of all… gifting ourselves the uniqueness we are (even if that’s a little ‘outside the box’), and also the gift of community. ere we are, living in the 21st century, speed, technology and Instagram, selfies, mass production and consumerism. These are the joys and pains of the times we live in… and although the big picture might seem gloomy at first glance, there are encouraging signs that more and more people understand the need for living a more conscious, responsible and sustainable life. There is a “return to nature” trend that is slowly leaking into all aspects of our life, from the clothes we wear to the food we eat and the way we look. Reduce, reconnect, recharge – these are the three Rs that are guiding the healthy approach to lifestyle in the 21st century. Reduce our digital experience (in favour of the human one), reconnect to nature and recharge ourselves with real emotions rather than technological skills. When it comes to food, the “return to nature” trend is gaining more and more followers as people begin to realise the importance of making healthier and more sustainable food choices. This conscious consumerism is leading us to

change our food habits for the better. We are now looking to buy fresh natural foods, shop locally for in-season fruits and vegetables and prepare simpler meals. So what does this mean for us as raw and vegan consumers? Sadly when it comes to food miles, vegan (processed) foods often use more food miles than a traditional diet sourced locally. here is no doubt more people are developing greater eating awareness. Not only are they motivated by personal health needs but also the surging interest in the moral and ethical treatment of animals. According to Roy Morgan, the pollster company, more than 2-million now prefer eating plantbased options each week. The recent opening of the new GoVegan Deli on Noosaville’s Thomas Street, was largely prompted by not only a need for high quality vegan food but also gluten-free, lactose-free, non-processed, grain-free and white sugar-free menu options. People from all walks of life are experiencing ‘true vegan food’, made fresh daily on the premises. Many for the first time and based on our feedback, a good 10% trying vegan food for the first time in a safe and supportive environment. That might sound odd but it remains to be said that a meat industry has done a very good job on people’s ‘heads’ having them believe if they don’t eat animal

flesh then they will die. This of course is ludicrous and untrue. My best advice is always follow your own course and if you do get a buzz from being around aware and conscious individuals because of a vegan choice, then well and good. Otherwise feel free to live as your conscience decrees. I am in the process of publishing another fully raw vegan recipe book and I’d like to share one of the recipes from this book but with a couple of slight changes (to protect their copyright on the book). Meantime enjoy the journey. It has been inspirational for me and highly recommend doing away with any form of animals – protects both from a personal health perspective and for the benefit of the planet. Here’s a fact. At least one plate of plant food a day saves in excess of 3000 litres of water – end to end production of grain all the way through to stock feed and water for cattle. That alone is good reason to consider a change.

Tomato and Carrot Wraps

Ingredients: 8 medium to large tomatoes 6 medium carrots – peeled ½ tsp good quality earth salt ½ cup golden flaxmeal (we use Melrose brand organically grown and processed in Australia) Method: Blend all the ingredients together until mixture falls away from the sides of your blender. Spread onto teflex or heat resistant paper forming a complete square. Dehydrate at 65C° for 45 minutes, then turn temp back to 43C° for a total of 4+ hours, turning over after the 2-3 hour point or when the top side becomes uniformly dry (some dehydrators differ). Allow to dry for a further 15 minutes to remove any remaining moisture. You are looking for a ‘rollable’ outcome. When ready to use, fill with your favourite vegan cheese and sliced vegetables seasoned with earth salt and lime juice.

Vegetarian San Choy Bau RECIPE FOOD MATTERS


raditionally, San Choy Bau is made with mince, but we’ve swapped the meat for cauliflower rice without compromising on taste. Using cauliflower rice in place of meat will leave you feeling great, plus cauliflower is packed with vitamin C, vitamin K and vitamin B, while also a great source of fibre, manganese and biotin. This is a super simple and fast dish that you could add any ingredients to, depending on what you have in the fridge.

Ingredients: ½ cauliflower head 2 tsp coconut oil for frying 1 onion, finely diced 1 garlic clove, finely diced 1 inch piece of ginger, grated 1 chilli, finely diced 1 zucchini, grated 1 carrot, grated 1 tbsp tamari 1 tbsp coconut sugar Juice of ½ lime Sea salt, to taste 6-10 cos lettuce leaves Handful fresh coriander, roughly chopped, to serve

Stir-fry until the zucchini has broken down and the sauce has warmed through. Season with sea salt. 5. Spoon the cauliflower mixture into lettuce leaves and top with coriander to serve.

Make cauliflower rice in the food processor by cutting the head of the cauliflower into smaller portions, placing in the food processor and pulsing 2-3 times until it’s cut up finely, similar to the size of rice. 2. Pistachio & Cranberry White Christmas RECIPE LUISA TOALDO


have fond memories of rolling Rum Balls and cutting generous squares of White Christmas around the festive season. Even if you have your own family traditions, these delicious squares are sure to delight any recipient or keep them for yourself, I won’t tell! This classic recipe gets a more adult update with the addition of orange liqueur and white chocolate. Swap the pistachios and cranberries for any dried fruit and nut combination that takes your fancy. Make it extra indulgent with dark chocolate chips and Bailey’s liqueur tossed with dried raspberries and almonds; the sky is the limit. Rules are meant to be broken, even at Christmas time! Makes approx 20 generous pieces. Prep time 20 minutes plus setting (2-3 hours minimum). Ingredients: 150ml pure cream 600g white chocolate suitable for melting 60g pistachios (shell your own for a little saving at the checkout!) 40ml orange liqueur (Grand Marnier) 150g rice bubbles 100g dried cranberries 50g shredded coconut One tin (15x20cm) lined with baking paper (feel free to go smaller for

higher squares or shallow for thin squares) Method: Place cream and liqueur into a small saucepan, bring to a simmer and pour over white chocolate, cover with cling film and set to the side for five or so minutes. Mix the dried fruit, nuts, coconut and rice bubbles together. Remove the cling film and stir the cream and chocolate mix until smooth. If the chocolate hasn’t fully melted, add the mix back to the saucepan and stir over low heat until all combined. Allow to cool for five minutes if reheated otherwise pour chocolate mix over dry ingredients and mix well. Spoon into lined tin and press evenly into all corners. Place in fridge and allow to set for at least two hours or overnight. Cut into desired squares using a hot wet knife (dip in boiling water) for a clean cut. ur gut holds more solutions to our health than most of us could ever imagine. Obviously not all disease begins in the gut, despite Hippocrates’ proclamation 2000 years ago. But there is strong evidence that our gut plays an underestimated role in the prevention and origin of disease, from simple ailments such as headaches, right through to chronic metabolic diseases. Unfortunately, most of us feed our taste buds before thinking about how it affects our digestive health. We’ve forgotten the correlation between the quality of our food and the quality of our digestive health. Here’s my top 5 tips for ensuring that your digestive system functions at its best: 1. Choose high quality, fresh organic foods – your digestive system can’t read labels, but it can recognise fresh wholefoods. Ditch the highly processed, boxed and canned ‘foods’ that fill most pantries around the country. Listen to your body and incorporate a mix of lightly cooked and raw foods that best suits your digestion. And follow the

80/20 rule – 80% of your plate should be food that can either grow in the ground or fall from a tree i.e. fruits and vegetables! 2. Try belly breathing – a lot of people hold stress and tension in their gut, and the best way to relax this is through belly breathing. Imagine that behind your belly button there’s an empty balloon. When you breathe in, you want to try to fill this balloon, and when you exhale, the balloon should deflate completely. This technique sends a burst of oxygen-rich blood to your digestive system, so try to make this a daily habit. 3. Chew thoroughly – I know we all lead busy lives, but the benefits of chewing food properly can’t be underestimated. Most people believe our digestive system starts in our bellies. Nope! Digestion actually starts in your mouth with saliva and enzymes to help further break down the chewed food. Food that isn’t chewed properly is much harder to digest when it reaches the stomach. 4. Incorporate Prebiotics and

Probiotics – pre- and probiotics work together to create positive benefits for the digestive system. Prebiotics are essentially the fuel and nourishment for good bacteria and allows them to survive in the gut, keeping your immunity strong. Great dietary sources of prebiotics include garlic, onion, bananas and apples. Look to kombucha, sauerkraut and yoghurt to boost your gut with good bacteria. 5. ot so long ago the label of ‘lightworker’ would conjure up all sorts of opinions, some eye rolling, a sense of being ‘out there’, of being airy fairy, one of those ‘spiritual types’, or even ungrounded, bordering on hippie consciousness. Well let’s throw that baby out with the bath water, as the breed of lightworkers; the ones who have stayed aligned with their soul’s calling by doing the hard 16

yards, are now taking on the mantle of current day spiritual warriors, as they bring awareness to the raising of the consciousness on the planet by bringing enlightenment to those ready to awaken. space and information for many others to remember their heart calling and to show up. This isn’t just a job, this is a soul calling, a spiritual mission; a lightworker’s journey. Would you have the courage, the trust in self to follow through with a powerful act of intuition and deliver a message to a complete stranger? Is your sense of self enough to follow the heart’s direction, no matter what the outcome, because everything in you tells you that you must? Sitting in a steam room at a local spa, Michelle Lightworker, received a visit from Archangel Michael with instructions to go to a particular person in the reception area and deliver a personal message. Michelle followed the direction and the result catapulted her into the life she is living now, the expansiveness of working with spirit, writing books, training lightworkers and speaking in many mediums to spread the message of self-awareness. Family upbringing and environment offers each of us platforms to grow from. Her early years, as Michelle says, “from a lightworker’s perspective” were dysfunctional. Growing and developing with huge emotional trauma within the family, then dealing with body image issues which began at age nine from some teasing, led to years of eating disorders. Two years into a relationship Michelle bottomed out with her eating disorder and eventually left the relationship aged 22. The next few years were about growth, learning and understanding herself via self-development, Steiner studies and eventually working in counselling. Working in the counselling arena, specialising in trauma, addiction and abuse gave birth to a course that Michelle put together to teach her clients who were demanding this from her. The course that Michelle had designed didn’t fit into an already existing accredited course, so it felt out of her integrity to continue with trying to make it fit. This led to her taking six months off immediately, as she had burnt out during the ‘trying to make it fit’ process, the square peg in the round hole syndrome, which many people can relate to. This takes courage, this is an act of integrity, this is listening to your inner knowing, and led to more steps in the journey of her soul under the guidance of spirit.

The “burn out” moment, forced her to choose herself first and take time out to recalibrate, rejuvenate and to have space to align with her true purpose. These times are often the catalyst to force change into our awareness, which translates into life direction transitions. In Michelle’s story, the beginning of her life purpose and change was to be still, to stop and be with herself, to nurture her body, and in that quiet relaxed point in life, she received her ‘directive’ and then her true calling in life was revealed. A lightworker is a person called to service in the upliftment, or enlightenment of consciousness, supporting the awakening of those ready to embrace their true essential self, and more importantly a person who is clear about who they are without excuse, reservation or diminishing their mission. Spirit has been a huge guide in Michelle’s life and her conversations often state that ‘spirit’ told her, instructed her, directed her, I totally resonate with this, as when we listen to the voice of the soul, and take action, then our lives flow, expand and are stable. In 2005, Michelle was told by AA Michael to deliver the lightworker practitioner training without even knowing what the content would be apart from the name. A whole bunch of people turned up and it was channelled through on the spot. It was the ultimate test of faith for her as in Michelle’s words, “I was so used to being a control freak with workshops (timed down to the last second!)”. Since then ten books have been birthed under the guidance of spirit with “The Everyday Lightworker Bible” being her latest effort. Once this body of work was delivered, Michelle was guided to legally change her name to Lightworker as a celebration of who she really is, to stand powerfully in her role and to shine the light for others called to this work to come out of the closet. How does Michelle connect with spirit? At this moment in time Michelle is operating from clairaudience; the ability to hear what spirit or other beings are sharing which is not available to everyone, tuning into a different frequency. As a Medical Intuitive, Michelle connects with the body, so she will often feel the area in herself and deliver that message to the person she is helping.


Basically her body is a barometer that feels others and their energy. What brings Michelle joy? She says, being able to pass on all the magical shortcuts to happiness that she lives each day makes her soul sing. How does a lightworker celebrate the festive season? Michelle says ‘go with the flow’. Her family are very chilled, they like to hang out together, all pitching in to make the day a celebration, a space of love which extends to the preparation of food. What are Michelle’s tips for Christmas? Don’t purchase anything from a place of fear, as that will sit energetically in the item. Let spirit or your heart guide you, so in other words, TRUST. If you are feeling stressed, take a moment, call in spiritual help, stay centred, then ask, what is REALLY important and is it from a place of love? Have awareness of your own energy as it affects the story of what is occurring. In the harsh times of struggle and not having much, Michelle learnt how it was to feel true, and the importance of BEING the gift, which is something she advocates often. If only my son was with me for Christmas.” These words were from a recent client who lost her 17-year-old son to the effects of ICE addiction. My first reaction was to offer a hug and allow Tabitha to share what was happening for her. Her story and her son’s experience was something I have heard so many times at Christmas time. The festive season can be traumatic for some people as they don’t have their loved ones with them, finances are so tight or they are alone. As a nurse at Christmas time, it would be our busiest time for mental health admissions. As a nurse I would listen to the patients at admission whilst filling in their paperwork and it was always the same story. The feelings of being alone, not good enough, feeling like they had nothing to offer the world and wanting to end the pain. Some patients explained that they tried to numb the mental pain with smoking, over-eating, recreational drugs such as marijuana, prescription drugs such as Xanax, and others worked incredibly long hours to the point of

exhaustion and hospitalisation. My heart wanted to reach and soothe their ‘pain’ and let them know it was going to be OK but there was something else happening for them. It was not until I commenced Medical Intuition work and working with the Millennium Children® that I really understood what was happening for people and the effect that the festive season had on them. Now let’s get back to Tabitha and her son Andy. “Andy was such a sociable young man. He was popular and always had friends so I did not guess that he had a drug problem or that anything bad was happening. He was sports captain and he only had two months left of school. He had HUGE dreams of travelling and being the humanitarian, he wanted to teach third world country children Australian Football. It looked like life was set out for him. Andy’s teachers adored him and always said he was such a happy-go-lucky boy. Yes, his grades could have been better but his personality overrode his academic side and he just seemed to be a likeable boy.

“So why did he take the drugs? What was he thinking? What was going on? Why didn’t he come and talk to me? I am his Mum.” As Tabitha said these last words she burst into tears and her whole body shook violently with grief and a sense of failure as a parent. From the outside Andy looked popular and successful but what if he was feeling alone and isolated. CHRISTMAS do. During the Medical Intuitive session, it was revealed that the 15-year-old boy was taking the drugs to quieten the ‘white noise’, the constant chatter in his head which was about not being good enough. The drugs made everything quiet and easy to deal with. Once this young man understood his personality, was assisted with life skills and his parents were given tools to empower him, he blossomed by leaving school and commencing an apprenticeship in landscaping which he loved and NO MORE DRUGS. Both Andy and the 15-year-old boys took drugs to alleviate the anguish of feeling ‘no good’. The energy at Christmas in terms of spirituality, is quite intense and is about oneness and yet it can bring up feelings of separation. There is a sacred geometry alignment of togetherness and if we forget, we feel isolation and failure more rapidly and intensely. The feelings and emotions intensify and we as humans are not taught how to deal with this intensity. This is a time to celebrate ourselves but for many, they

have forgotten to see their brilliance and they falsify it with additives such as food, drugs and alcohol. Christmas is the mass consciousness of seeing the best in our selves and celebrating that. The key is to love who you are, see your gifts and celebrate every day. If you are affected by this time, ensure to gain support and have friends or family there to assist you. It is time to see and know you are brilliant – you were born that way and

you do not need to do anything to shine this. Remember you are already perfect just in different stages of remembering. o you know that it is the Christ energy, which is so tangible for many people around the world at Christmas time? It is easy for you to connect to this Christ energy now, the Christmas Spirit, which brings you deep peace, joy and happiness – just as newborn babies do. Allow this energy to be born in your heart now and allow your heart to be touched by its presence within you. A deeply touched heart was also the beginning of my story of Litios Light Crystals. It was February 2006 when a friend of mine and I visited a big spiritual Expo with many workshops, keynote speakers and famous New Age Musicians. I had been a Physiotherapist for many years, studying and experiencing many modalities to finally assist people more profoundly as well as studying art to connect people with the unseen. Each evening my friend and I met in the park and exchanged our experiences. One night she excitedly

told me about Litios Light Crystals and how Metatron spoke to her through Antje Kyra, the co-founder of Litios. Very sceptical, I accompanied her to the public meditation the next morning. It didn’t take long before tears were running down my cheeks. The meditation was about redeeming our shocks and traumas that we experienced with the fall of Atlantis. It wasn’t a true intellectual understanding – although I really could relate, moreover I just couldn’t help myself as tears fell. I knew, I wanted to learn more and started to visit them for many personal sessions, meditations and workshops. There hasn’t been a day or night that I haven’t had at least one Litios Light Crystal and contact to the Crystal Angels that live in them, as I am amazed by their divine light and love with which they embrace us. But how did Litios Light Crystals come to earth? Antje Kyria and her husband Edwin, married for many years with five grown

e all live busy lives. And the busier we get the more disconnected we feel with ourselves, our relationships and ultimately our happiness. Christmas can be a frantic time of the year and it is easy to get lost in the mayhem. Whilst everyone else is enjoying the experience of gift sharing and laughter; you may be missing it all as you worry about whether the turkey is cooking well or whether the tension between Aunty Mabel and your mother will get out of hand this year. The truth is that the festive season offers us a wonderful opportunity to learn how to nurture ourselves. And even though in the rush of sharing Christmas cheer it may not seem possible; we really do have a choice. I was shown this many years ago as I worked as a social worker and grief therapist in a busy hospital ER. My experiences with over 400 deaths in the hospital ER, gave me

some of the greatest insights about what is really important in life. As I communicated with the souls of those who had just died; they explained to me the key steps we can all take to live a life that is aligned with your soul’s true purpose. The more I listened, the more I came to understand how – just by making some small changes to the way I think, perceive and behave – then I could really change the way I feel about life. he end of the year is a strange time. Work deadlines looming, Christmas madness in full swing, family logistics, money concerns, you name it. ost of us have been conditioned that to survive we need a job to get money. I am not at all saying this is not the case for where we are as a community today, I am suggesting another point of view. That point of view is that creativity and play are the keys to living a life on our planet in happiness, joy and contentment. They are the steps to living life rather than being in survival with it. For many of us, if we were to quit our jobs tomorrow for whatever reason, what thoughts come to the surface? Are they thoughts of, “how do I pay the rent/mortgage?”, “how do I buy food?”, “pay my bills”, or most likely some other fear story. From a very young age we link basic survival to a job that pays us money. In many cases we don’t enjoy the job either. If we tune in and listen to all the

quality sages, mentors, philosophers, spiritual teachers, infinite intelligence channellers, etc – they all advise and teach to follow what excites us, invest in our creativity and know life will support you when you do this. Again, for many of us, when we are stuck in survival mode these are the things that get put aside. We tend to leave the things we enjoy off our to do list and keep the things we feel obligated to be doing on it. This usually suggests we are in survival mode. Do we ever go to bed saying things like, “bugger – I didn’t get to read, paint, write, swim, walk in nature, exercise, call that family member, create that photo wall today – how am I ever going to pay the bills?!!” How many times do you use work, children, household chores or lack of money as an excuse to not do those things you enjoy?

I am inviting you to challenge yourself over this Christmas break. Change your belief system. If you are serious about giving yourself a life of connectedness, togetherness, warmth, abundance, happiness, joy, freedom and synchronistic unfolding, choose a belief that suggests that following “my joy, creativity, curiosity or excitements, are the freedom I need to live my life well rather than just surviving it”. Write a list of the things you love to do, want to create, are curious in exploring or give you the feeling of joy and excitement. n December you will feel like you are kicking some goals. Life will feel on track and you will start to contemplate some new ambitions that you would like to fulfil in 2016. You may find that talking to others about this is not particularly useful as these decisions are yours and yours alone. This is a time of focused direction and clear movement towards an achievable outcome that seems clearer than ever to you right now. This month it is particularly useful to withdraw into silence for the transformation to take place. It is like being in a chrysalis stage, you are neither what you were in the past but you are not yet what you want to be in the future either. Just as when the caterpillar stops striving to eat every leaf in creation and withdraws inside the hard shell of a chrysalis, it becomes nothing but a fluid. You are

in the fluid stage where you are undergoing a massive change, a rebuilding, and in January after this period of contemplation and decision making, will emerge a wonderful butterfly, a new you, ready to face the year ahead. This knowledge of how to handle the energy in December is special for you. There is no point trying to explain it to others who are not ready for the transformation that you are ready for. raditional Indigenous healing practices have been used for hundreds of years to maintain the health and wellbeing of people from all over the world. These principles and approaches to healing are different for each country’s first nation population. However, there are some aspects that are very similar, for example Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and New Zealand’s Maori people take a more communal approach to the healing process by focusing more on the health and wellbeing of the family or community as a whole and less on the individual. As a descendant of Ngati Uenuku and through my work as a Maori Reiki Healing Master, it is always important to me to be mindful of these traditional practices. To the Maori people the connections and reconnections of the hinengaro (mind), tinana (body) and wairua (spirit/soul) are essentially created when wha– nau (family), hapu– (subtribe/extended family) and iwi (tribe) come together to support each other. There are genealogical ties

between the whenua (land) and iwi (people) which are interrelated and linked. So the belief is that healing occurs when family come together on the traditional land. In modern society the traditional family unit is no longer seen as the norm and many people move away from community for employment or educational opportunities and for numerous other reasons. Due to the demands of this modern lifestyle people are often left feeling disconnected as they are not able to connect with family and land for this traditional type of healing. This leaves them in search of healers to help them to rebalance and reconnect as an individual. During a Maori Reiki Healing session, family members in spirit will join into the process with the practitioner and give guidance to their loved one which creates that ‘whole’ feeling of a wha– nau ora approach to hauora (health and wellbeing). The recreation of the feeling of belonging to family, even if it is to loved ones who have passed over, and land connection, is made to enable

healing to take place. Healing the mind, body and spirit through the use of traditional practices or spiritual healing is beneficial for all people from all walks of life, for we are all from family and from this earth. Rongoa (traditional Maori medicine) includes a range of traditional therapies such as massage, spiritual healing and herbal remedies. The leaves of the Kawakawa plant (Pepper Tree Macropiper Excelsum) is commonly used by Maori healers both past and present for its wide range of medicinal properties. Kawakawa can be used in many ways but often as a tea to treat ailments such as circulatory, digestive and rheumatic complaints. It can also be used externally for cuts, bruises, stings and eczema. don’t know about you, but when I first think about Christmas, my mind is filled with anxiety, worry, stress and dread. Really, is Christmas here already? Where has the year gone? Does this sound familiar? Or are you one of those who has finished their Christmas shopping in July, holding Christmas at your place this year for 30 people, organised the family trip away to some exotic Island in early January and purchased the kids’ book list and already covered and applied the contact? Well whichever one you are, I don’t think we can get away from the fact that Christmas can be a rewarding or challenging time, depending on who and where you are at in life, or your attitude towards it. A lot of us these days are dealing with step-children and blended families, partner’s families, immediate families and siblings, nieces and nephews, etc.

We are juggling and struggling to be everything to everyone. There comes a time when we have to put ourselves first. Because we realise that we can’t pour from an empty vessel. We are completely in the flow and are in a place of acceptance, not only about ourselves, but everyone and everything around us. Our heart fills with love, for we know that we are all on our own journey. We stop judging others and ourselves. Relationships are easy and we are in allowance. You see, when we operate from that level, we tend to attract that same or similar vibration into our lives. We mirror back to people what they are mirroring to us, because we are energetic beings and far more than a physical body.

e are taught to give until it hurts, and told it’s not about receiving, it’s all about giving. Christmas is one of those times of the year where we are guilted and shamed into giving more and more without expecting anything in return. Don’t get me wrong I am not anti-Christmas, in fact I am very pro-Christmas, but somewhere in the mix we have lost the point. Why should we purposefully do something that instigates self-harm (even if it is metaphorical), and we all know that Nature abhors an imbalance, yet we create an imbalance and create energy debts all over the place as we give more than we receive. Many times in my life as a Medical Intuitive and Energy Worker I have had clients that have come to me with

all sorts of physical ailments, when we look into the reason behind the physical issues it is normally always the same, they are a selfless person that looks after and assists so many different family and friends in their life, totally to the detriment of their own health. My Grandmother died from not paying attention to her own health as she was too busy helping others to notice or pay attention to the signs of her own health issues. Christmas is a time of the year where we are pushed to our very limit of time, energy and tolerance, worried about what everyone else thinks or says, and if that is the journey that you have decided that you want to take, learn the lessons that these situations present to you. hen boarding a flight recently, as I came to my seat, I heard two men laughing. Loud! I don’t know if they were brothers or friends but they made me reflect on how little I hear people randomly laughing. My family, kids and friends all laugh together. Of course there are times when we cry when sad or challenged, but the laughter returns. I laugh at myself too, sometimes, when the going gets tough it is all you can do. We do not have to be so serious. Our idiosyncrasies are awesome comical material; observe any compulsion to do something over again, like wipe the crumbs off the table, or check your skirt is not stuck up in your undies… and try not to chuckle. Laughing at ourselves dissipates the tension, even if we feel annoyed, laugh about that too. Soon we see how our standard reaction is no big deal.

Everything is fine and we’re ok. Really. I navigated a period when I was heartbroken, withdrawn and all encompassed by my grief; I cried almost daily for two years. I could not stop, nor was I in control of when tears welled up or rolled down my face. Laughter occurred less then, the drought only broken when my friends or Mum came to visit. At the centre of every day there was a powerful mood enhancer, one that guaranteed a shift in my energies, and best of all it’s free, and natural. Music can alter the mood in an instant. Powerful beats and lyrics appeal to our hidden senses, often mimicking our own thoughts and feelings. Artists and musicians can induce movement, fun or melancholy depending on the genre or memories associated with the tune. Creative folk speak to our soul. What about the sudden,

inexplicable, transition teenage behaviour when a man/woman of interest enters our realm? Now that is funny! Laughing with friends about the potential of a new relationship is sure to entertain. Obsessive checking of messages, what to wear, out of control over-analysis of the potential possibilities all produce some of the most raucous laughter. o!!!!! So why should we? Christmas should be about having a great time enjoying the pleasures of life – food, drink, friends, family, parties, dinners and holidays. It often isn’t!! It can be super stressful and busy and not happy for our bodies at all. So how to enjoy the pleasures without the pains? I love Gary Douglas’ (of Access Consciousness) take on enjoying living – and it’s become my target – what if the point of having a body was to enjoy all this wonderful earth has to offer – and that includes the silly season? If you are willing to be in tune with your body and the earth, a different possibility for peace and happiness is created for everybody. So here’s some simple steps that could make your Christmas season not only more enjoyable, but also contribute to ‘peace on earth’: • Take time to be outdoors, and

I guess back some 40 years ago when I first heard those words it made little sense to me. Now I’m ‘getting it!’ As we create our reality through our beliefs; thoughts; fears; actions and most importantly our vibration, what we focus on in our everyday ‘awake moments’ we create. For example if we fear snakes we will attract them! Matt Kahn said something profound during the past year which was, ‘You attract what you judge until you no longer judge what you attract’. Any judgment, any resistance only creates more division, more separation, more duality… and you only feed the conflict by your own resistance to it. Mother Theresa once was asked why she didn’t ever participate in anti-

war demonstrations. She replied, ‘I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I’ll be there’. I guess she was saying ‘focus on what you want!’ The quote ‘you must be the change you wish to see in the world’ is attributed to Mahatma Gandhi. However in research there is no real proof he said those exact words though the following story showed he lived by them. Apparently a mother and her son went to see him. When they finally were able to speak to him, she asked Gandhi to talk to her son about eating sugar. He asked the mother to bring her son back in two weeks when he would speak to him. In a fortnight the mother and son returned and Gandhi spoke to him about sugar. When he had finished the boy’s mother asked Gandhi why he didn’t speak to him the first time


they were there. He told her that two weeks ago he was also eating sugar! He explained that he could not speak of or teach her son to not eat sugar if he himself had not taken that journey. In other words he had to be ‘the change’ before he could help her son! Next year’s workshops will be focused on learning ways to heal any separation and resistance we might still have so that we can commence creating from a place of non-duality – a totally new and different way to create our reality. oes your post-Christmas and New Year’s celebration self-talk sound something like this? “What the heck just happened?” “Why did I overindulge again, after vowing not to?” “That’s it! I’m making a New Year’s Resolution!” Have you ever wondered why we overindulge at Christmas time? And why is the festive season so different to the rest of the year in terms of what we consume? There are a couple of reasons that contribute to why we overindulge. One of them is chemical-neurological in nature; the other has to do with mindfulness. Our brains are hardwired to seek good feelings and avoid bad ones, which generally is a good thing. It helps us stay alive. Stuffing our faces around Christmas actually makes us feel good – temporarily. Fat, sugar and alcohol – all help to release dopamine; the feelgood hormone. This certainly adds to the merriness we are experiencing around this time of year. Some people actually feel rather sad, lonely and

depressed around Christmas and for them, the dopamine release can help them feel less so. For many people, the “rest of the year” is actually a fairly stressful experience due to financial worries, job, relationships, health, etc. Christmas is the time to either totally forget about life’s stresses for a bit, or on the contrary, to experience them strongly amplified. Either way, sugar, fat and alcohol will make life seem ok for a little while. That is, until the New Year arrives, life returns to normal and the regret sets in. The simple (but not always easy) answer lies in increasing our overall level of mindfulness, which roughly translates as acceptance of present reality with awareness. Most humans constantly seek sensory stimulation. That is, we crave things that smell, taste, feel, sound and look good. Of course, there is nothing wrong with that, however in many cases it becomes an addiction. We constantly need more stimulation to maintain that good feeling, or to not feel as miserable as we

do when we don’t satisfy those cravings. Like any addiction, this attitude cannot be sustained, nor is it viable. Just look at the stats on depression, anxiety and stress. We are clearly not coping. Mindfulness practices, combined with a process of rethinking our thoughts, can help to let go of that constant need to satisfy our senses. This will lead to a ‘more even keel’ throughout the year, taking away the need to overindulge and then have to deal with the regret that invariably hits us. And, even better, it will allow us to feel good all year around, without the need for external stimulants. There are plenty of resources available to start becoming more present and to start changing our thoughts. The work that I do is one of those resources. was out at dinner with friends I went to school with the other night. We only see each other every 5 or 10 years. One asked me what I was up to these days. I shared that I work with couples and intimacy and hold Making Love Retreats. Well. Her mouth softly dropped open, her eyes glazed over. She was speechless. Needless to say it was a Catholic school in the 70s… and we were a pretty conservative bunch. I do wonder what happened to me sometimes! After that there were giggles and jokes about the subject sprinkled in with the beautiful candour of the evening. I came away sweetly amused at how easily I can speak about the subject now but it wasn’t always the case. Aside from the humour it evokes to cover over shame or sheer embarrassment, it highlighted for me the absolute privacy of the subject of sex and intimacy, how personal it is. And I believe this privacy for

a couple is something to cherish. Yet when it becomes too private to the point that the subject isn’t even brought up between two people in a relationship, that’s when things can get tricky. It can be the scariest thing as the subject of sexual intimacy can be so loaded. Loaded with all the conversations that were never had, feelings and emotions that were never expressed, never given the light of day. In the end you have to ask yourself, am I wasting my life here? How much longer can I go on, ignoring a deep need for connection, for intimacy, for love? As time goes on, it becomes harder for our egos to drop their armour, be real, be raw and be truthful. But as hard as that is, your courage will be rewarded. So how to safely bridge the gap between the no-talk zone and the talk zone? Intention. Create the intention

that you will be vulnerable enough to bring up the subject – and this can apply to any touchy subject, not just intimacy. Sit by yourself; place your hand a few inches below your navel, your dantien. This is the centre of your energy body, and is a powerful place to speak from. Then tune into your heart and place your hand there and make a prayer for the best outcome, and that you also speak from your heart with no projection, no demanding. When you create the intention without blame, the right time will arise and you may be amazed at what can happen just by being willing to have that intimate conversation. It takes a lot of tension to hold our truths in. Yet on the other side is freedom. ne of the greatest challenges that people can face in their relationship, is how to manage and balance their love and time for their partner and for their biological family. This can be particularly intensified at Christmas and holiday time, when there are expectations from family members to be with them, whilst you and/or your partner may have different desires in how you want to spend your time. Differences in personality and underlying challenges are often present when it comes to parents and in-laws. A lot of people come from dysfunctional families, where various behaviour has a negative effect on the family system. Other people are simply dealing with some big characters and some big beliefs. Some partners don’t like being around their in-laws because watching their partner all of a sudden become disempowered can be difficult. Other partners feel uncomfortable with the closeness their lover has with their

families and it makes them feel isolated and alone. There are so many reasons why this time of the year is stressful for couples, particularly when it comes to scheduling and attending family events. Here are some tips to keep in mind to assist you and your lover: 1. SPEAK YOUR TRUTH – the most important thing you can do is find a way that lovingly speaks what you really feel to your partner. Many of us know our families are crazy in all sorts of ways, but we still like them to be spoken about with a reasonable amount of respect. If you are challenged with your partner’s family, or feel uncomfortable sharing yourself and your lover at this time, be honest and speak truthfully from your heart. Holding back will only create unnecessary resentment, where being vulnerable will encourage solutions. 2. COMPROMISE – find a way to compromise about how you will spend your time together and with your

families. Get clear on “the” absolute important time for you to be together, and negotiate family time around that. Don’t expect to have it all your way as that is unreasonable. 3. LIGHTEN UP – you are in charge of you, and don’t have to do anything that is not good for your emotional or physical wellbeing. Discuss this together, and make decisions based on your own wellbeing. Breathe. Relax. If you create a relationship where you both speak your truth compassionately, and both listen, you can navigate your families with love and respect for each other’s needs. 4. REMEMBER LOVE AND KINDNESS – for yourself and others. Allow your families to be who they are. You decide what is best for you both. Be CREATIVE in how you can meet each other’s needs. think most of us realise how great music is. It can bring us from the brink of despair to the summit of enlightenment. I remember playing a requested Metallica song on my harp for a wedding. To learn it I listened to the original recording on YouTube and couldn’t help notice how many other listeners had made comment that this piece had really helped them through difficult times. Funnily enough the same sentiment was echoed by others commenting on recordings as diverse as Allegri’s Miserere to Shanti (peace) mantras. Such is the power of music to affect all of us, no matter where we are on our journeys. The really interesting thing for me is the building blocks of music – sound. Now sound is a complex thing; a single note from the voice has an incredibly complex array of overtones surrounding it, plus the amazing individuality of the singer’s tone stamped on it, as well as

thought intentions behind it. So much information is encapsulated in a single note. Imagine how much is contained in a whole song! Our ears, brains and bodies decode music and are able to draw energy and meaning from these sounds. When I am delivering a harp therapy session, I usually say to my client that they might like to imagine that the sound they are receiving is like an energy which they can feed on to bring about the fulfilment of their intentions. I listen to the speaking voice of the client and determine something called ‘resonant tone’, or the pitch at which that person seems to be resonating within that moment. Then I improvise through the Celtic healing cycle basing the music around their pitch. Sometimes I incorporate harmonic overtone singing which tends to take them deeper into whatever state

they are moving into. Everyone who receives one of these sound baths has a different story to tell me at the end; some go on astral journeys, some feel physical sensations in their bodies, some see passed-on loved ones… Through my work I have seen the effects of dissonance and consonance on clients. Dissonance occurs in music when a note is played that is not part of the underlying chord. Sometimes we can think of this ‘wrongness’ as being ugly or not in harmony. However I use this note like a Swedish masseuse uses their thumbs to press into a knot to bring about the release of tension. The note draws attention to a point that may actually find a higher vibration through release. Through listening to music you are bringing into your field its energy and vibration. here is no doubt about it. We live in a remarkable world that in the last 100 years, has moved forward in giant leaps and bounds. Think about it. We live in a world where we can flick a switch and we have light, heat, entertainment, education and connection to any person, business or government anywhere on the planet. In the world of medicine, our knowledge, our ability to investigate disease, and our skill in the surgical room has left us, in most cases, living longer, more fruitful lives. Interview with LAWRENCE ELLYARD, CEO and founder of IICT Holistic Bliss: How did International Institute of Complementary Therapists (IICT) begin? Lawrence: Like many things, necessity is the mother of all invention, and so it was with the IICT. In 1996 I founded the International Institute for Reiki Training. At this time we had several practitioners ready to practise so I was seeking to provide professional membership for our therapists and access to insurance cover. I really wanted to provide an alternative to the path traditionally offered by associations. Being active in the natural health industry, I came across the same complaints from practitioners. Common concerns were high membership fees and continued education point collecting (CPD), which mostly seemed expensive and unnecessary to many therapists. I wanted to provide my graduates with membership that had all of the benefits, but none of the limitations, that many association memberships entailed. After a considerable effort I was able to secure an agreement with an insurance broker to provide professional affiliation and insurance for our graduates. As soon as we launched the

membership, a funny thing happened. We had practitioners asking if the insurance could also cover them for other therapies. I took it upon myself to contact our broker and found they were happy to cover up to 120 natural therapies. Because we had one of the best rates available at the time, soon word-ofmouth spread and we grew in leaps and bounds. As more and more therapists joined our Reiki Institute banner, we continued to provide professional membership for therapists who had additional modalities to Reiki. In 2002, I decided it was time to create a new banner to cater for all our members who did other complementary therapies, that’s how IICT was created. Holistic Bliss: What makes IICT unique? Lawrence: The main difference is that IICT is not an Association, it’s a business that has similar benefits to Associations but we don’t stipulate that therapists have to undertake continued professional development. We grant membership based on the individual’s existing qualifications. We are also the largest modality list in the world,

currently at 1157 approved modalities here in Australia and many more in our overseas branches. We also cover online and distance education as well as recognising international qualifications so therapists don’t need to retrain to access professional membership and insurance. IICT is active in enabling new modalities to be recognised in Australia for insurance purposes. Some of the modalities we provide this service to include: Theta Healing; The Journey; Reconnective Healing; Access Consciousness; CalmBirth; as well as a diverse range of natural therapies on animals. Let’s have a look at what some of your POVs are creating for you. “I attract people who take advantage of me.” Does that POV allow peeps who are kind and expansive to your world show up? “I cannot afford a tree, I’m just managing.” Does that POV allow you to receive money and a life beyond “managing”? Nothing is getting better or changing. Does that POV allow “change to show up with ease?” Can you see the energy confusion, you are asking for money and change yet at the same time choosing (yes, everything is a choice peeps including the words you use and POV you speak) to have the POV that refuses you receiving more. This is not about making you wrong… you may have gone there as one of your POVs is “what am I doing wrong” with that POV, would you look to what’s possible or what’s wrong?

What if you are not wrong beautiful one, what if you never were? When you have an awareness, what if there was another choice you could make? What if you didn’t go into conclusion on how hard it is, what if you asked a question and took action to change it? Are you buying the lie, you are wrong, small, pathetic and weak? What else could you choose if you had your back? What if the opposite was true. You are strong, expansive and a creator? Which ones feels lighter, more true for you? Rebirthing into a new era of




s 2016 is rapidly approaching at a speed that most feel is taking them by ‘storm’ it is no wonder some find it hard to adjust to the ‘new’ times. The truth is that it is not because everything is changing that we are changing but rather that because WE are changing that everything is changing! Humanity has embarked on a wave of Consciousness since 2012 and has been accelerated towards a meeting with Destiny! The reason this time is so exhilarating and at times also overwhelming for some, has simply to do with the ‘tuning’ of our frequency. “Nada Brahma” (The world is Sound) with this phrase begins the oldest scriptures known to man the Vedas. Today we know that everything is essentially made of Sound and so is our body. We know that the physical body is just a manifestation of other 6 energy bodies that are more subtle vibrations of our being and that our wellbeing depends on how well these bodies are aligned and in harmony. To tune into harmonising sounds and frequency in particular 432Hz Harmonic of Light during these times of change is a way to balance all of our subtle and physical body. rankincense is an oil to be revered. Used throughout history as an integral ingredient in cosmetics and incense burners, it is also closely associated with religious traditions and rites. This precious resin was one of the gifts for Jesus Christ along with Myrrh and gold. Due to these connections it is known as the perfect Christmas oil and along with Pine, Orange and Myrrh would be ideal in a vaporizer and spritzer. It is a wonderfully relaxing oil which is why it is popular to use in meditation and prayer and is an ideal oil along with lavender and chamomile to keep you chilled in the build-up to the hectic Christmas festivities and celebrations. hristmas can be a very happy time, but it can also bring sadness if you’re missing a passed-over loved one. I make my living from being able to connect with my clients’ passedover loved ones and pets, but it’s no less important for me personally to be spiritually contacted by people and animals who’ve meant a lot to me and whom I’ve lost. I receive a lot of comfort

from these spiritual connections. As I detail in my book, ‘Amanda De Warren, My Journey Behind Blue Eyes’, my former partner, Mick, who passed away in 2013 connects with me through bringing through music that we used to listen to together. He’d often play and sing ‘Songbird’ by Eva Cassidy to me when we were driving in his truck, and he’s brought that song through a few times since his passing. The strangest time was when I was in my daughter’s car with her and the song came on, even though she hadn’t remembered putting it on her iPod! Once when I visited a friend, I heard Barry Manilow singing Mandy as soon as I walked in, which I knew was Mick as well. Now, some would say that this was all just coincidence, but each time I felt Mick around me and knew he’d brought those songs to me. When my spiritual mentor and dear friend, Eric, sadly passed, the spiritual doors opened for me as he said they would. I’d been wondering what I was supposed to do with my life, and Eric came through and told me that I was meant to do something with my

mediumship and animal communication skills. I still needed reassurance and wanted some sort of sign about my life path when one night I dreamt of being in Paris with Eric. We were walking over an old arched bridge with streetlights and we saw the Arc de Triomphe as we sat and drank coffee. The next morning I met my best friend, Peter, who told me that he was going on an overseas trip. He showed me a brochure and there was a scene of Paris with the bridge, streetlights and café just like in my dream! I knew it was Eric giving me another sign. I’d encourage everyone to be open to these types of signs from loved ones trying to make a connection. Maybe it’s a song, a saying, a dream, a smell, whatever it is, if you’re open to it being a sign that someone is telling you they’re still with you, you’ll often find that the signs increase as your own psychic powers start to be more sensitive to these connections. y passion has been trying to solve allergies as a trained veterinary surgeon and licensed acupuncturist. I was unable to solve allergies in either the Western medicine model or the Traditional Chinese Medicine model. So I searched far and wide to find solutions from the other sciences, namely physics to solve the problem. What I found in my investigations were not only the keys to unlock the allergy conundrum but also chronic disease. I performed clinical trials to test the theories and there are a few fundamental points to understand to grasp this information: 1. Basic energetic immune system is Attraction / Repulsion 2. The existence of Yin / Yang energy plus another layer of Yin / Yang energy giving rise to four bioelectrical energy systems in the body. Namely the Yin / Yang systems plus the Inhibitory system (Yang) and Consciousness (Yin). 3. The body is made up of Fractals. 4. Health conditions are simply a repulsion of thoughts / substances. Physics has its own problem and that is the problem of dealing with Newtonian

physics and Quantum physics. I found a physicist that had a simple theory and a solution that fits in eloquently with Nature. To me all the answers lie in the understanding of Nature. The theory is called the Double Bubble Universe (Walker, 2013) and it describes the Universe as two bubbles – one of three dimensions (3D) of space and one aspect of time, essentially our physical world. The other dimension is of three dimensions of time and one dimension of space, essentially the Quantum world. In each dimension there are four forces: Space, Time, Energy and Matter. The four forces relate to the four bioelectrical systems: Yin / Yang; Inh / Cons. In each dimension there are three forces that are bi-directional and one force that is uni-directional. We understand time as a uni-directional force: yesterday, now and tomorrow are all states of this force moving in one direction. Four forces with one force having one direction, pulls the other forces into a fractal of three. The three fractals affect the body physically: Yin / Yang and Inhibitory.

Are you stressed, fatigued and unmotivated? Could you solve your happiness puzzle with these missing puzzle pieces? Could it be bacteria? Researchers at McMaster University have supportive evidence that bacteria residing in the gut influence brain chemistry and behaviour. When there was a change in the gut flora of the test subjects increased anxiety and behaviour change was noted. For years these bacterias have been seen to be harmless, but the negative impact of specific strains of bacteria on the brain are documented. Pathogenic bacteria have the potential to cause havoc on your digestive system and indirectly may cause Serotonin to drop. Serotonin is your happy, relaxing neurotransmitter. Not many people are aware that it is predominantly made in the gut. Functional bacteria (the good guys) are often overlooked, they assist in breaking down your food and keeping your gut healthy.

Is it in your DNA? MTHFR is a very important enzyme that is needed for detoxification, methylation, SAMe and glutathione production. But for some the gene may be dysfunctional. Considering SAMe is imperative for good sleep and mood and glutathione is important for energy production, we want sufficient levels of both. Clinically we see MTHFR gene mutations frequently and with this mutation there may be a greater chance of developing depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue, migraines or insomnia just to name a few.
