Studyng how an object can be reflected on another one , we have been asked to create an architecture. This architecture had to be placed behind the “ripari fonici” which the architect Mario Botta had built in Chiasso (Ticino) to repair houses from the noise of the highway. Creating a scenography for the performance of the Fluxus artist Philip Corner, the result was an harmonious contrast between the reflection of machines in motion and the “sound of silence” staged by the neodada artist.

ARCHITETTURES RELATED TO REFLECTION AND SOUND Atelier Mario Botta - Riccardo Blumer _ Bac 1

Lateral section Trend of the reflection

The course was based on a series of exercises that consisted of the construction of objects connected with the sound’ s resonance. In the last part of the course we experienced the perception of the sound in an urban scale through a performance. The performance consisted of a procession through the streets of Mendrisio in order to show the relation between sound, body and space. We carried on our shoulders a steel structure 15 m long, 1 m large and 300 kg heavy, which contained 64 megaphones transforming the inner city in a sounding box.

Taking the inferences from the study of Gracia , a district of Barcelona , each student had to design a house based on the analysis of the relationship between public and private spaces and between the project and pre-existing. While formulating my design , I chose to keep the public and private spaces, which seem to be separated ,integrating them in order to mantain the Raumplan philosophy of continuous living spaces. drawings scale 1:100, 1:50 models scale 1:200, 1:50

ABITARE URBANO

To fenestrate the Urban Block, our concept for the master plan was to keep the rigid boundaries of the site while providing an organic layout for the plazas within it.This allows us in achieving a fluidity in the internal informal spaces. The facade helped in integrating the external space to the lines of the city.

CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM AND PROCESSES COURSE Prof. Franz Graf _ Bac 2

The exercise consisted in the analysis of an example of urban intervention. I chose to study the district Quinta da Malagueira located on the outskirts of Evora , Alentejo (Portogallo) ,built by the architect Alvaro Siza (19771992). This architecture has 1200 apartaments set in a herringbone pattern and articulated by the conducta ,The architect did not just built housing but studied the urban texture , the behavior of population and interacted with them. Creating a cluster structure, his architecture creates “gaps” , squares , streets , and public places to allow the integration of existing neighborhoods Nostra Senhora da Gloria e Santa Maria.

CULTURE OF THE TERRITORY , INTERPRETING Prof. Frèdèric Bonnet _ Bac 2

Relations with the historic center: the neighborhood is connected to the city center ,which is surrounded by romanic walls, through three road, To the south there is the National road Evora-Lisbona while to the north Calle de las Piscinas. The central axis is the extension of the road which had already defined the abusive neighborhood de Nostra Senhora de Gloria

Types of open spaces: the built is in conflict with nature but at the same time supports it , in fact the physical joints of the territory are recognized. The residential area can be considered a real project of a total urbanity, intersection of blocks , avenues, squares ,covered passages. In particular are delimited urban voids resulted from the different orientation of the residential blocks: a large and green open space in the center , small squares and the so called “calle.Despite the high residential density are safeguarded open and green spaces to foster social relationship among residents.

Integration of the neighborhood with the existing: the arrangement of the blocks is targeted at the integration with the existing neighborhoods, To promote the connection , some structures of a social nature were entered and rehabilitated , were added schools ,community centers, socio-cultural complex , meeting places.
