Livin’ la vida loca or how to manage 24 countries in a campaign
It’s just geography
• If you regard countries as communities, it really doesn’t matter whether you’re covering 24 countries, 24 counties, or 24 cities
Simplify everything • Try to simplify as much as you can in the early stage of the campaignig – it will give you both space to find your way around, and time to make first accomplishments • There will be plenty of time to “complicate” later
Back to basics • Research, research, research • Find out as much as you can about the other side (regardless whether it is one school or entire country)
Localize as much as you can • Be sensitive to local ways of doing things • Think local, act global • Act local, think global
Make everybody happy (or at least try ) • Always try to find a win-win solution that works for all parties involved • Find your leverage – and use it! • Mingle, network...all the time!
Think out of the box! • Keep an open mind! • Always put yourself in the shoes of the other party • Look at the bright side! • Never give up!
Know your target groups • Each target group requires a different approach • Don’t forget the local effect • Keep the big picture in mind
Find an easier path • Use public service – it’s their job to serve the public • Go central – let others do the work for you • Remember the chain reaction
Google is your friend • ...and most of the internet, for that matter • Use social media, and use it a lot • Be a copy cat – do not try to invent the hot water • Keep an open mind • Localize, localize, localize
Do what feels right for you • Don’t pressure yourself into doing things just because someone else is doing it • Set your own targets – find your benchmarks • Stay inspired
Don’t forget to have fun!
