individuals of all ages throughout the year. During the summer Sweetbriar Nature Center offer nine weeks of camp for children ages 3 years to 16 years of age. Many of the programs include the non-releasable native wildlife cared for at the Sweetbriar facility. Sweetbriar respectfully refers to these animals as “ambassadors” of the natural world. Nancy remarked that it was very rewarding to collaborate with the Suffolk County Girl Scout and Boy Scout Council providing programs for them to earn badges. Sweetbriar also implements projects to assist them in earning their highest honors as an Eagle Scout or to receive their Gold Award. Long Island organizations DDI, S.T.A.T.E., high schools
license, became Manager of the Vivarium (butterfly house) and teaches natural science education. Smithtown-Sunrise Rotary Club is comprised of community minded people who work as a group to provide humanitarian services on a local, national, and international level. Thursday, September 20th, The SmithtownSunrise Rotary Club Guest Speaker was Nancy Adornetto, Program Coordinator at Sweetbriar Nature Center. Nancy's presentation covered Sweetbriar’s mission to educate children and adults in natural science education and the rehabilitation of native wildlife...which go hand in hand in the programs Sweetbriar have designed for schools and visitors. Sweetbriar’s education programs meet the New York State life science standards. They provide hands on natural science education to students in grades Pre-K thru high school for over 30 years. They also service all Smithtown's local community with fun and engaging public educational programs for

The outdoor facility, established in 1995, is opened to the public from June thru October. Since Nancy Adornetto started at Sweetbriar Nature Center in 1996, she has received her wildlife rehabilitation
