The mission of Overflow Coffee Bar is to give South Loop residents, students and workers the opportunity to change the world. Here is a snapshot of how we have advanced our mission in 2009: June:: Overflow Coffee Bar was officially incorporated in the state of Illinois. July:: We developed our first brochure to help us explain what Overflow is all about. August: Overflow submitted our 501(c)3 application to the Internal Revenue Service. We published our first newsletter, “Overflow Coffee Connections.” October:: Overflow held our first educational event, “Think Global, Drink Local.” Thirty people were in attendance and learned about how their drink choices affect the world. November:: Overflow’s Facebook Fan Page (facebook.com/overflowcoffeebar) reached 100 fans. We received our largest one one-time gift yet - $1,000. December:: Overflow had its first electio election n of our Board of Directors (see above). Look for a new and improved website coming your way by the end of the month!

A Look at 2010 January 23, 2010 – “Save the Date” for our next educational event. This one is sure to be bigger and better than the last one! Spoiler Alert – this event is a collaboration with some great non non-profits. Also in January, we are launching a coffee subscription program. When you enroll in this program and give a monthly donation donation* to Overflow, you will receive coffee beans delivered to your home. You set the donation, amount and frequency and we do the rest! As the Set Up Shop Committee gets underway, you are sure to see some exciting and creative ideas generated to move Overflow to the next level and closer to opening the doors of a coffee shop.
