MOROCCO Marrakech & Fès Day 01 –

Arriving, Casablanca Airport

Morning:

Arrival at Casablanca International Airport and meet with ITS staff. Transfer by coach to Marrakesh and check-in at our hotel.

Afternoon:

Depending on your arrival time, a sightseeing tour in town can be organized during the afternoon.

Evening:

Dinner

Day 02 –

Marrakesh Full day:

After breakfast, we’ll start with our first lectures in the morning. The afternoon will be completely dedicated to Marrakesh, where we’ll start by visiting the Musée de Marrakesh, housed in a beautiful palace and where temporary exhibitions cover both traditional and contemporary Moroccan arts. Our next stop will be at the Koutoubia, the most famous religious monument in Marrakech, whose minaret is about 77 meters high! Depending on time, a visit of the Saadian Tombs, recently discovered (1917), could be planned.

Evening:

Dinner in town and return to the hotel.

Day 03 –

Marrakesh

Full day:

After the morning-lectures, we visit the Ali Ben Youssef Medersa, founded in the 14th century and later restored by the Saadians who made it the largest theological college in the Maghreb and a rival to the Medersa in Fès. There, we’ll admire the mosque walls, the 10th-century marble basin and the splendid courtyard. We’ll then exit the place to reach the Medina of Marrakesh, ranked as UNESCO World Patrimony Site in 1985. The rest of the afternoon will be spent by walking around in the Djemaa El-Fna Square, presenting the worldwide city’s most famous souq.

Evening:

Dinner and show on the site before we return to our hotel.

Day 04 –

Fès Full day:

Evening:

This day will be mainly occupied by the transfer in coach from Marrakesh to Fès, our second destination. Depending on traffic and time, a stop could be organized either at Beni Mellal, sitting at the foot of Mount Tassemit, or at Khenifra, a city with Berber origins… Depending on arrival and check-in time in Fès, the oldest of the imperial cities, a visit in town and its labyrinthine streets will be planned before we have dinner. Day 05 –

Fès

Full day:

After morning-lectures, we’ll discover the medieval city, with its magnificent gates and walls. We’ll visit the Dar Batha Museum, a century-old Hispano-Moorish palace which houses a fine collection of traditional Moroccan works.

Evening:

Departure

Right after having breakfast at our hotel, we check-out from the hotel and leave Fès by coach to reach Casablanca International Airport. Time to say... ‘Bye Bye and See You Soon!’

Alternative information Safety is an absolute priority with ITS trips. Our experienced and trained staff are all First Aid qualified. Each staff member has a mobile telephone for emergencies and overall communication. GSM service is available throughout the majority of the trek. SPOT satellite SOS/GPS messenger is used on all trips to support each group. Morocco has an extensive health care system but it will vary depending upon location. A complete risk assessment is provided for each trip. Health: It is recommended that you consult with your GP for the most up to date advice. General rules of hygiene must be followed. It is recommended that all students are healthy before travelling and bring with them any medication required. A good level of physical fitness is required for all participants. Money: Moroccan Dirhams are the accepted currency of Morocco. We recommend you exchange money on arrival as it may not be possible to obtain Moroccan Dirham outside of the Gulf States. We also recommend you use an international credit card to minimize the amount of cash carried. Children should not carry a large amount of cash in any case. Food will be authentic local cuisine – please inform us as soon as possible of your dietary requirements. All school staff are responsible for the pastoral care of the students and must be the people in charge of group control and discipline at all times. Equipment: Equipment required for organized activities will be provided in the cost. Additional equipment may be brought by the group. Temperatures can fluctuate greatly so warm, waterproof and comfortable clothing is recommended. Bring a camera. Comfortable walking shoes, back pack, water bottle and a hat / sunglasses and sunscreen are essentials. Lodging: Students are accommodated in twin / triple rooms and staff in twin. There is a supplement per night for any adult single rooms (subject to availability). Conditions: The price per student is based on the above offer and guaranteed for a minimum 20 paying students.
