Annual Student Convention TechNext India 2013 Thakur Institute of Management Studies, Career Development and Research (TIMSCDR) organized TechNext India - 2013, Annual Student Convention in association with Computer Society of India (CSI) on 4th and 5th of October 2013. The convention had an excellent and exciting blend of fun and technical events held at various colleges across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane. TechNext India - 2013 provided students a competitive platform to showcase their talents on technical level. Fun events like Laser-Tag and LAN Gaming, Rubikâ€™s cube workshop dosed the adrenaline for gamers. Informative workshops like ethical hacking, HADOOP, Photoshop, Robotics, Android and iOS further boosted the young technical minds. TechNext India - 2013 events started from 24 august 2013 and were conducted at 14 different CSI College branches. Some of the events that took place at different CSI branches were Robotic competition at SNDT Women's University, ICT quiz at Vidyalankar School Of Information Technology, Web designing contest at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, PC assembly and troubleshooting workshop and techhunt at Shah And Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College. The final round of Business Synapse was held at our college, TIMSCDR where participants had to propose a business idea and advertise it covering various aspects like concept, feasibility etc. th
TechNext India - 2013 had eminent personalities from various sectors like education, corporate, Indian Navy and Air-force to deliver their views and roles of IT in various fields. The chief guest for the Convention was Dr. Gulshan Rai, who is an H-Grade Scientist working for Government of India. The event was also graced by presence of honâ€™ble vice-chancellor of Mumbai University, Dr. Rajan Welukar. Keynote address was delivered by Dr. Deepak Phatak, Padmashri Recipient. He is Professor at Department of Computer Science Engineering, IIT Bombay. Dr. Phatak talked about current education system and proposed a model that would help the students to enhance their knowledge. National Student Co-ordinator of
CSI, Mrs. Mini Ulanat addressed the audience on value of professional associations in student life, cloud computing and HADOOP. We also had a career Spectrum session by the Indian Navy Captain S. Ruperi (Command recruitment and Training Officer, Western Naval Command), Commodore G. Shyamsunder (Command IT officer) and Airforce personnel Group Captain S. Anandan, Head of faculty, Military Institute of Technology(Pune),who explained the prospects of IT students in Indian Navy and Airforce. Mr. Balakrishnan Sreenivasan from IBM GBS Global delivery India spoke about Role of Enterprise Architect and Importance of EA Framework; followed by Dr. Kannan Moudgalya Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Bombay who spoke about improved learning through open source software and spoken tutorials. The day concluded with an interactive session on Professionalism, by Ms. Megha Kapil (JAPAC Campus Recruitment Team, ORACLE) who spoke about the corporate culture and life after MCA and a talk by Mr. Apurva Mankad Founder and CEO of Web-Express, who expressed his ideas on Entrepreneurship. Day two of the event had some brainstorming interactive sessions and workshops. It started with an awakening talk by Mr.K. K.Mookhey, Founder of Network Intelligence India Pvt.Ltd. on mobile security and the do’s and don’ts while using any application on internet. Mr. James de Raeve briefed the audience about TOGAF certification and its importance in industry. Two workshops on most used Operating systems iOS and Android were conducted by Mr. Amit Agrawal, founder Enablers consulting services and Mr. Henry Potsangbam, IT Evangelist respectively; which helped the students understand more about their working. Further there were motivating sessions on setting future goals. Dr. Ajit Ranade, President and Group Chief Economist, Aditya Birla Group spoke about the career challenges that a student may face in his/her life and how they can achieve success in their career. Mr. Ashank Desai founder, Ex-chairman Mastek Ltd. spoke about “Realizing oneSelf’s Potentials to its Maximum
to Achieve Successâ€?. Mr. Karan Manral leadmarketing & special projects, Actis Technologies expressed his views on opportunities for growth in AV (Audio Visual) and integrated control system industry. A short message on mission of CSI was addressed by Mr. Rajan Joseph, Director Education, CSI National Education Directorate followed by prize distribution for various CSI events held at 14 different colleges all over Mumbai.
