We, here at LokmanyaTilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital are providing an altar to the scientific minds all over the state to unveil the varied facets of medicine & broaden the horizons for research in every way we can. So here we invite you to our First AllMaharashtra State Medical Conference, TRINITY 2011. Spanning over 2 days, the event will comprise a triad of competitive events and to top it all, The Doctor’s Oration. OBJECTIVES Not everything can be learnt within the walls of a classroom or through the pages of a book. Experience the heritage of passage of knowledge by the learned and discover the talent within which forms the very element of a student’s budding character. As it is rightly said, “Knowledge shared is knowledge gained”; we invite all the bright minds of Maharashtra to contribute to this exchange of ideologies.

Objectives: 

Doctor’s Oration: The conference will help to mould the minds of budding students and doctors through the oration by a renowned personality from the medical field.

 Research work: The conference will provide a common platform to the undergraduate, interns and postgraduate medical students across Maharashtra to present their talent by poster and research paper presentation.  Medical education & interaction: Medicine being an ever evolving field, the conference shall provide a healthy platform for discussion & exchange of medical knowledge between students and clinicians taking into consideration the common medical issues & problems over Maharashtra.

THE MEDICAL SYMPOSIUM Literally speaking, ‘symposium’ is derived from the Greek word ‘sumposion’, which used to be a tradition among the erudite of ancient Greece to have a convivial meeting for drinking, music and intellectual discussion. Over the years, symposia have been perfected and re-perfected and so now, it has become our responsibility to perfect all the attributes of a medical symposium. So come, be a part and benefit from this intellectual discussion.

Rules and Regulations:1. Only one team entry from each college shall be allowed. 2. Team should strictly comprise only of undergraduate students (including interns). 3. The topic for their presentation should be medically relevant which can be based on any of the following: clinical, laboratory, or community and allied subjects. 4. Each team can comprise a maximum of 12 members and a minimum of 4 members. 5. Each team shall not have more than 6 speakers. 6. The time allotted for each team is 20 minutes. 7. Marks shall be deducted for exceeding the time limit. 8. This will be followed by a 5 minute question & answer round by the judges, faculty and the audience. 9. The presentation shall strictly be on MS Office 2007. 10. If a member of any team is found violating any of the above rules, the team shall be disqualified.

Judges:This prestigious event will be judged by the most highly qualified professionals from the medical field who shall not be associated with any of the medical colleges. They shall be selected anonymously, the details of which shall be disclosed on the day of the event.

THE POSTER MAKING COMPETITION Going by the old adage- “A picture is worth a thousand words�. We are giving you the chance to imprint upon the minds of the audience the recent advancements in the field of medicine through a symbolic and well organized poster.

Rules and Regulations:1. Only individual entries shall be accepted. 2. There shall be 2 categories viz. Undergraduate (including interns) and Postgraduate. 3. The topic for their presentation should be research based, medically relevant, which can be on any of the following: medicine and allied, surgery and allied, non-clinical and community subjects. 4. The participants should e-mail their posters for the qualification round by 5thof February. 5. The qualified entrants shall be notified accordingly. 6. The qualified entrants have to print a 4 feet x 3 feet poster and present it on the day of the competition. 7. Presentation time of 5 minutes shall be allotted.

Judges:This prestigious event will be judged by the most highly qualified professionals from the medical field who shall not be associated with any of the medical colleges. They shall be selected anonymously, the details of which shall be disclosed on the day of the event.

Prizes:1st Prize (UG) :Rs. 2,500/-

PAPER PRESENTATION We would love to give our peers and patrons an opportunity to don their thinking caps to utilize and extinguish each and every last bit of resource they are able to gather and put forward one of their finest works of medical research that will help to push the boundaries of advancements to a whole new dimension.

Rules and Regulations:1. Only individual entries shall be accepted. 2. There shall be 2 categories viz. Undergraduate (including interns) and Postgraduate. 3. The topic for presentation should be research based, medically relevant which can be based on any of the following: medicine and allied subjects, surgery and allied subjects, non – clinical & community subjects. 4. The participants should e-mail their abstracts by 5th February. 5. The abstract shall be in the following format with a maximum of 1000 words: a) Title b) Author c) Aims & objectives d) Materials & Methods e) Results f) Conclusion 6. The qualified entrants shall be notified accordingly. 7. The qualified entrants shall present their research on the day of the event. 8. The presentation shall be strictly on MS-Office 2007. 9. The maximum time allotted for presentation shall be 6 minutes followed by 2 minutes of question & answer round. Marks shall be deducted for exceeding the time limit. (7)

DOCTOR’S ORATION Knowledge counts in efforts, wisdom counts in years. What can be better for students treading the long path of medical profession, than to be provided with pearls of wisdom by the stalwarts of the noble profession? One of the most renowned doctors will embellish the minds of the future doctors with their sea of knowledge. General Details and Registration Registration Date: Last date of registration is 5th February, 2011. Registration fees: Rs.50 per participant per event. Registration forms (Last page of the invite): To be sent by courier. All participants are requested to carry both, a CD and a Pen Drive, in the MS Office 2007 format. 5. All teams participating in the Medical Symposium have to carry their own laptops. 6. Accommodation: It will be arranged for registered participants from outside Mumbai and Navi Mumbai only for the duration of the Conference free of cost. 7. All participants are required to confirm their registration on the days of their respective events. 8. All participants are required to produce a valid college I-card at the time of confirming their registration. 9. Organizers reserve the right to modify the rules of any event if necessary. 10.
