We are NEEEU. A multidisciplinary design studio, creating delightful digital experiences for the real world. We focus on understanding how upcoming technologies can be used to address real people’s needs and desires.Â

We’ll help you navigate uncharted waters. We’re in the midst of a technological shift. (We don’t like the word “paradigm”, but, you know, “paradigm”.) We expect our digital and physical worlds to align, seamlessly, and demand the services and products to help us do just that.

Spatial transformation is a term we just invented, but it represents that shift towards a blended technology, from augmented reality to artificial intelligence. Where digital and physical realities meet. Hi. We’re the handshake in the middle. We’re NEEEU.

Our Services. Service Design. Product Design. Development.

We work with amazing companies to bring digital and physical products to life. From mapping the gaps and opportunities, to concepting, prototyping and implementing digital and physical products. Award-winning, categorydefining products.

How we work. Begin with understanding people’s needs and expectations.

Imagine setting out to design a bird and ending up with an ostrich. Most people would consider this at least a partial failure of ornithological ambitions. But what if your requirements were “large, rideable, one egg feeds a family”?

Design and technology begin with a real knowledge of people’s needs, desires, and motivations. We use a qualitative and human approach to gather meaningful insights. Some call it user research, although for centuries it was just called “being a good listener”. And it’s one of our favourite things to do.

Showcase

Contextual technology in automobility For almost a year, we have been collaborating with the research department at a major automotive company, exploring how upcoming needs in the mobility environment could be met through context aware technologies.

A fascinating project, combining research, prototyping and opportunity building.

How we work. From concept to testable prototype, fast.

We believe the best way to test ideas is to make them tangible as early as possible. From rough paper prototypes or experiential videos to coded functional experiences, we love making.

Showcase

Augmented Museum This proof of concept has been developed as part of a longer project to find use cases for mobile AR. By prototyping it early, we were able to identify the nuanced design challenges that such a system will have to address to be meaningful for museum visitors.

How we work. Test. Learn. Repeat.

Learning from prototypes is how we turn good ideas into great products. So we place them in front of the people who’ll actually use them. Then we look, observe and listen. And improve them until they're right.

Showcase

Aero One To see how users intuitively interact with AR in regular environments, we released an app that allowed them to place a sound in space and then "touch" it with their phone. Their responses lead to several UX changes, including the addition of haptic feedback and onboarding.

Our mission. Being conscious of our impact in the world and the society.

Yes, we care about how we do things! We are mindful of the impact of our work on society, the environment, and the wellbeing of individuals and communities. This is a goal reflected in our design process and the choice of projects we take on.

Before beginning each project, we map the good and bad potential outcomes for everyone: our clients, us, the environment and society. This helps everyone involved to begin the work with the right mindset. And encourages to keep checking throughout the process.

What it’s like to work with us.

We do our best work in close collaboration with our clients. We find essential insights, co-create concepts and work through prototypes together. The result will not only be great design work, but a new way to look at what you do.

Our Team. Great design work requires a diverse team.

Our core includes interaction designers, behavioural researchers, visual designers, and technologists. Then we complement those skills with expert consultants as projects demand. But each project is different, and because of that we craft the ideal team each time, bringing  to the table some of the best specialised individuals worldwide.

Key growth areas: It is in the intersection between human needs and new technologies where we thrive the most.

KEY GROWTH AREAS

Spatial Transformation

Identifying which spatial transformation technology has the potential to become a great product or service is a full-time job. It’s also not your job. Luckily for you, that’s exactly what we love doing. Building, playing, and researching every day, to form a detailed understanding of people’s needs and how technology might serve them.

There’s no rule book or guide. This is literally happening right now, as you’re reading this. And it requires a multi-disciplinary team working closely with people and technology. Think of us as the friendly river guides steadily fostering you through these uncharted waters. Friendly, handshaking river guides.

KEY GROWTH AREAS

UX for Spaces.

Anyone working in the digital space knows the level of skill and determination that’s required to design smooth, two-dimensional experiences. When new technologies bridge into our threedimensional world, that complexity explodes. Possible interaction points increase exponentially. The opportunities are as endless as the variables.

This blank canvas can be, well, terrifying to develop products for. But if you’ve read this far (you’re our favourite people), then you know we’re here to help.

Haize Cycling in an urban setting is dangerous enough without getting distracted by directions on your phone. We wanted a device that would encourage exploration and observation, while still easily getting you to your destination. Enter Haize - a simple and fun navigational tool that works like a programmable compass.

Initially developed as a Kickstarter campaign, Haize began shipping in December 2017 and is currently an ongoing business serving the cycling community.

Futurium How can technology & design change behaviours in a space? Futurium is one of Berlin’s newest arrivals, a very ambitious space that combines art with technology and design.

We were given the opportunity to design the experience of one of the floors, meant to be an area for creativity. How could we influence the mood and behaviours, encouraging creativity, exchange of ideas and interaction?

Showcase

Futurium We started our research with children and observed how they were feeling intimidated in such a formidable space. They behaved quietly and serious. This same social effect can make people shy and prevent ideas from emerging.

Turning the space into a more lively place, where it is fine to break rules and it is accepted to make noise, will play a fundamental role in the future.

Because of this, we designed a way of turning the situation by creating a storytelling game that is controlled with sound. It is not forbidden to make noise, but the opposite.
