In 2051, Germany, like the rest of the world could change in numerous ways. While it isn’t possible to emphasize every aspect of the country that would change, it is possible to highlight some areas of interest, which would illuminate the future transformation of Germany. To understand how a country has progressed or declined over the years, one could observe the everyday family household. The average household shows how citizens live and whether their living conditions are comfortable. How has it changed, what are the advancements in technology seen throughout the house, what does the size, structure or design of the house say to an observer, what materials are used to build the house and is nature still important or even present in the overall structure? Answering these questions should illuminate an unknown future or at least give us an idea of what to expect.

The motion graphics animation produced focuses on several scenarios of the German household, size of family (number of members in a house), renewable energy systems, sustainable design and transport. Scenario one focuses on the size of the family household and how it could change in 50 years. If families wanted to own homes rather than rent and remain debt free, they could all work together to build a larger house to accommodate the family size, while also being able to own a relatively large home. This would allow family members to each have a room for themselves while also alleviating the financial burden of paying for such a large house. This way of living would also bring families closer together as they work together for a better life. Scenario two focuses on the advancements in technology, which allow the renewable energy systems of today to be refined, minimized and hidden from sight in the household. The Hydropower systems would be integrated into the gutter system without the need for massive currents of water, while the Biomass process that required a large-scale factory would be small and situated below the house. also be refined to function as normal 900 transparent windows while still absorbing sunlight to generate energy. Scenario three focuses on the design of the house and how would nature be taken into account. The design of the house would incorporate natures’ function, for example, a field for a roof, which would regulate heat and absorb heavy rainfall. The materials used to build these homes would all be recycled from condemned buildings, structures and broken furniture. These ideas while they can be seen in a few homes today will become common place in 50 years with refined processes for recycling old materials. Scenario four consists of transport and how the automobile of tomorrow would carry us to our required destination. While the idea of cars driving themselves is already being developed, by 2051 the automobile of tomorrow would be driven by an automated network that would minimize accidents dramatically if not completely. By taking into account all of these scenarios and how they improve life for the everyday household, we can gain a clear understanding of what Germany in 2051 would be like.
