Reestablished Riverscape Project was co-designed by Marianna Ley Reestablished Riverscape is an ecologically revamped park that uses our site in Cleveland, Ohio as a link between the proposed Irishtown Bend park and the Thunderbird urban development. Along with our flexible open space

4

and existing, forested trail system we have restored the riparian edge condition and built up views of interest to allow people to experience the land in different ways. Our park also manipulates the water’s depth and vegetation

to allow our designed fish modules to create new habitats for, and interact with, the fish for more suitable spawning and survival conditions.

Goals:

• Redesign the waters edge condition to create more intimate interactions between land and water. • Develop modules to encourage fish habitat and growth. • Strengthen connections to neighboring parks and communities. • Reimagine a sited park in Cleveland’s industrial district along the Cuyahoga river. • Reestablish the ecology of the Cuyahoga river and its surrounding context.

Campus Commons

Bennington College: Bennington, Vermont The Campus Commons project focuses on the development of a site plan for a group of dormitories on a small Liberal Arts College campus in Vermont. This project requires a close attention to the character and condition 8

of the site as a primary influence of site planning and design. My design relies on the creation of outdoor program spaces for students to study, gather, and get active all within a short walk from their dorms.

Goals:

• Study existing site features, contextual relationships, and regulations for the design. • Develop comprehensive site plans focusing on topography, planting, and stormwater management. • Detail site features with an emphasis on courtyard function, layout, materiality, plantings, and spacial relationships through both plan and section.

Process:

• Site Analysis: inventory and analysis diagrams focusing on predevelopment stormwater run-of rates, site context, viewsheds, and connections as they relate to vehicular and pedestrian access. • Site Studies: a series of directed design iterations focusing on grading, planting, and stormwater management. • Design Development: final design details through plan and section drawings.

Metro Park Pentathlon

Group project designed by Brooke Hiedenthal, Sammantha Lin, Bruce Moreux, and Trevor Neate The focus of the Metro Park Pentathlon project was to design a park to be both used for recreation and leisure while additionally serving as a site for pentathlon competitions annually. Our group worked to design a 12

fluid plan that serves the goals in mind all the while making this park the most enjoyable during all times of the year, regardless what activities may or may not be going on any given day.

Goals:

• Be as creative as the project limits allow. • Combine group research to design a new modern pentathlon. • Limit the footprint of new construction on site. • Utilize water machines to create different conditions for competition and vegetation strategies.
