From the editor... 'Cloud Computing set to grow bigger in coming years' Cloud computing, among other things has been an emerging trend in the country and if a Microsoft commissioned study, conducted by IDC is anything to go by, then this trend is set to grow only bigger in the coming years. The study revealed that cloud computing alone would account for 2 million jobs by 2015, in India, while generating some 14 million new jobs, globally, at the same time. Further, the study found that more than 50 percent of the jobs, thus created would be in the small and medium businesses, and that over 2 million jobs would be created in the communications and media and manufacturing sectors, each, too. Cloud computing is also poised to generate roughly 1.4 million jobs in the banking sector, the study found. Further, the report stated that it witnessed a "strong linkage" between cloud, innovation and entrepreneurship; and added that this - cloud innovation would, by 2015 bring in revenues, which could reach US$1.1 trillion per year. The study, through its course of research also found that the countries who would invest in key cloud infrastructure would see a growth in jobs. It added that factors like projected level of spending on IT, degree of automation, workforce size amongst others, had a direct bearing on the number of jobs that would be created in a particular country. With regards,

Elecom Unveils World’s Smallest Wireless Laser Mouse The smallest wireless laser mouse comes built with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which can be charged via an in-built micro USB port. lecom introduces the world’s smallest wireless laser mouse, ‘baby beans’, soon to be featured in the Guinness Book of World Records. Designed to resemble a tiny bean, this 1200dpi laser mouse uses 2.4GHz wireless communication technology. The mouse comes built with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which can be charged via an in-built micro USB port. With a full charge, ‘baby beans’ can operate for approximately three weeks. It is available in six different vibrant colours. Elecom Co., Ltd., Japan’s also announced the launch of its India subsidiary – Elecom India Private Limited. India is a very important market for Elecom and its commitment to the market is demonstrated by the launch of its exclusive showroom “Elecom Experience World” at Nehru Place, New Delhi, which is the first of its kind in the world for the company. The Experience World not only retails the Elecom products but also offers a unique sensory experience to its discerning customers to touch, feel and test the complete product range for India. On this occasion, Junji Had, Elecom Founder and President, said, “India, with its vibrant economy and a vast youth population, presents enormous potential for Elecom which is known for its innovative and excellent designs. We are very confident that our range of premium and uniquely designed products, with the latest cutting edge technology will certainly appeal to the upwardly mobile and technology savvy Indian consumer. The ‘baby beans’ mouse demonstrates our in-house world class technical and design strengths.” The laser mouse is the most sensitive mouse available to computer users. It uses a laser in place of the LED light source found in a standard optical mouse. The laser tends to use less power and is ultra24

sensitive to movement—so, delays in on-screen mouse movement are rare. Laser mice offer greater flexibility—they work on nearly every surface, including wooden desktops. Optical mice have some difficulty tracking on black and shiny surfaces, while wireless laser mice perform well. The laser mouse uses an infrared laser diode instead of a LED to illuminate the surface beneath their sensor.
