The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board exists to advise and make recommendations to the City Council concerning policy matters related to the establishment, maintenance and operation of the City’s parks and recreation programs. In-person registrations are available at the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office, Landa Recreation Center, Das Rec and Fischer Park NEC. Checks should be made payable to "City of New Braunfels." A charge will be assessed on returned checks.
PROGRAM & EVENT POLICIES CANCELLATIONS
Help us have successful programs by registering early! All programs must have a minimum number of participants in order to be conducted. If a programs does not meet this minimum the class may be cancelled/combined a minimum of five days prior to the class start date.
WAIT LISTS
If registering for a class that is full, your name can be placed on a waiting list. This does not guarantee a spot, but individuals will be contacted if an opening becomes available.
REFUNDS
Cancellations of programs or events made 5 business days prior to the start of a program will receive a full credit to their account or a refund will be issued. NO CREDITS OR REFUNDS will be given after the start of a program or event. Registration fees will not be prorated for partial attendance of any program.

The New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department routinely takes photos and videos of participants in recreation activities, programs and special events and/or at recreation facilities. These photos and/ or videos may be used for promotional purposes. Be aware that by participating, you are granting the City of New Braunfels the right to use and publish your image or your minor child’s image. Das Rec classes and programs listed as free are free for members. Non-members must purchase a day pass to participate in a free class.

We are joining forces with the owners of 2tarts Bakery and the Food Networks cookie decorating competition winner for a hands-on experience that will teach participants how to make beautiful and delicious cupcakes from start to finish. These classes will familiarize participants with essential tools and kitchen safety, teach how to decorate using buttercream and fondant, and show participants how to make buttercream and cake batter from scratch. COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT) PROGRAM
Teens- experience all the great things about day camp AND have an opportunity to develop job and leadership skills. CITs assist counselors with implementing and planning camp activities. CIT applications will be available April 1 and require at least one letter of recommendation for new CITs. Once accepted into the program, CITs must attend an orientation prior to the start of camp. Spots are limited and are available on a week-by-week basis following the Camp Minnehaha schedule.

Bring young technicians into a creative, engineering environment. Not found in stores, the special Lego Logo kits provide extraordinary opportunities for the hands-on construction. Under the guidance of a Texas certified educator, along with detailed technical plans to follow, the participant will build robots, traffic lights, race cars, four-by-four trucks, cranes, pulleys, levers, and more during this energized week of discovery with Lego! Motivated by fun, creativity, and success, young builders will expand their knowledge of math, science, and STEM technology in an exploratory hands-on cooperative environment.
So you say you have done it all with Lego? Let a Lego Expert teach you otherwise! Activity based STEM projects and kits that will incorporate physical science and math all into one. This American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program helps participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. This course will teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed. BABYSITTING CERTIFICATION CLASS
Start your own babysitting service the right way with a certification from our trained American Red Cross Instructor. This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to safely give care for children and infants. Participants will develop leadership skills and learn basic child care, first aid, and CPR. Please bring a sack lunch.
Come and exercise your Lego skills here in ways you haven’t done before! The unique collection of Lego kits not found in stores and special STEM projects will captivate minds. Careful guidance from a Texas certified teacher will allow students to flourish with ideas and overcome obstacles. Campers are introduced to the lifesaving techniques, swimming, and team building skills necessary to properly help in water safety scenarios. No builder can say “Lego my Lego!” when engaged in the creative activities of LEGO MANIA! This innovative program for Lego buffs provides opportunities for imagination and hands-on learning under the guidance of a certified Texas educator. Over 15 new games, STEM kits, projects and activities not found in stores will be planned and manipulated. Enrichment in the areas of personal creativity, following instructions, eye-hand coordination, problem solving, critical thinking and learning will be experienced as the child has the opportunity to construct dinosaurs, rockets, castles, airplanes, forts, cars, and more!

RAPIDS SUMMER TRACK PROGRAM
Go the extra mile and be a part of Rapids! The Rapids Summer Track Program has been teaching kids about the fundamentals of running for over 10 years. This track program is for kids of all skill levels ages 6-18 who want to run and compete in track & field events. We'll emphasize basic principles of running in both long and short distances. Participants will get to compete in official track meets and even have the opportunity to compete at the TAAF State Track Meet!
Hill Country Karate’s certified instructors began teaching American Karate in 1983 to people of all ages, utilizing positive instructional methods. All instructors are required to complete extensive certification programs emphasizing safety and positive professional teaching. Campers will participate in arts and crafts, sports and games, nature and science, performing arts, cooking projects, special events and so much more! CAMP MINNEHAHA COUNSELOR
IN TRAINING PROGRAM (CIT) Teens- experience all the great things about day camp AND have an opportunity to develop job and leadership skills. CITs assist counselors with implementing and planning camp activities. CIT applications will be available April 1 and require at least one letter of recommendation for new CITs. Once accepted into the program, CITs must attend an orientation prior to the start of camp. Spots are limited and are available on a week-by-week basis following the Camp Minnehaha schedule.

The City of New Braunfels, Westside Community Center, and the San Antonio Food Bank continue their partnership to assist food insecure families in the area on the first and third Friday of every month. Income guidelines and voucher program information are available through Westside Community Center/New Braunfels Public Library website. Vouchers may be picked up at the New Braunfels Public Library, the Salvation Army (Elliot Knox Boulevard), and the Westside Community Center (office and library).
