PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board exists to advise and make recommendations to the City Council concerning policy matters related to the establishment, maintenance and operation of the City’s parks and recreation programs. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm at City Hall, located at 550 Landa Street.

Soul Searching Cemetery Tour
October 22 & 23
Soul Searching is a unique educational and entertaining family event that will introduce you to the citizens who helped to form our city. Participants will take a walking tour and visit select graves to hear the stories of these illustrious souls as they are portrayed by actors. Each walking tour lasts about one hour, be sure to wear comfortable shoes! Rest stops are available along the way. For those with mobility needs, golf cart tours are available at 6:00 pm on Friday and 5:30 and 6:00 pm on Saturday. Walking tours start at 6:30 pm both nights until 8:45 pm. The neighborhood socialites have touted the Hatter’s Ball as the bash of the year in the isolated town of Bloodworth Falls. Mayor Riley White has organized the event in the old Bloodwood Castle as a diversion from the scandals that have plagued the town in recent months. Of course, it’s no coincidence the ball is scheduled right before the upcoming mayoral election. The mayor posted the invite list online, and your adversaries have already sent in their RSVPs. You’re intrigued and have decided you cannot miss an opportune moment to seek revenge on those who have crossed you in the past. Now, you are on a hunt for the perfect hat. Join Spass Walking Tours of New Braunfels to explore the history and beauty of Landa Park and experience a two mile walk during this interpretative tour. Discover man-made and natural treasures and hear stories about the people that made Landa Park a significant part of our community. This tour meets in the parking lot of the Rec Center at 164 Landa Park Drive. Most of the tour will be on the sidewalk and is stroller friendly. HISTORIC CEMETERY TOUR
Join Spass Walking Tours for a guided, interactive walking tour through two historic New Braunfels’ cemeteries that includes an exercise in using dowsing rods to find unmarked graves from 1846! This recreational volleyball league emphasizes skill development and fun while promoting teamwork and fair play. Teams are coed in this instructional program that focuses on the fundamentals of volleyball and sportsmanship.Younger children learn basics like bumping, setting and spiking. Each player receives a uniform; children should wear sneakers with non-marking soles to participate. One practice per week (to be determined by the coach); will be held any time Monday & Thursday from 5:30pm-9pm & Sunday from 3pm-6pm. Grab a partner and get ready for the Winter Teams 6-week Pickleball Ladder League! League teams must be Co-Ed/ Mixed (one male/one female) and open to all skill levels. This fun and competitive format of play is designed so that teams mostly play with others of similar skill levels. Sign ups for Division 1 (3.5 to 4.0) or Division 2 (3.0-3.5). Season begins January 3, 2022. A Playoff Tournament will finish up the league and determine winning ladder teams on February 7. Max 16 team spots for each Division. Ana practiced Taekwondo for 18 years and earned her 3rd-degree black belt. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where she received a degree in Health and Kinesiology. She holds her personal training certificate from ACTION and is a licensed physical therapist assistant with experience in outpatient physical therapy. During her time at the outpatient physical therapy clinic, she treated ailments such as total knee replacements, total hip replacements, rotator cuff repairs, total shoulder replacements, meniscus repairs, and ACL/PCL/MCL tears.
After almost 30 years of moving all over the world with her USAF husband, they made the decision to move back home to central Texas to be near their daughter and Terrie’s parents. When Angie isn’t training or dancing she enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, reading, and traveling.
Anna believes that mindset and motivation are key to maintain our health goals. Anna holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master’s Degree in Education. She is certified as a personal trainer through NASM. As someone who was once very overweight, she can relate to the struggles of lifestyle change, she wants to help others find their fitness love and see the changes that result. When she isn’t teaching classes or training, Anna works full time as a teacher and has two teens that keep her busy.
Brit’ney has had her own journey with health and fitness, losing 40 pounds and learning how to do it in a healthy way. She is ACE certified and continues to learn more about health and fitness and how to integrate it daily into her client’s lives. Her goal is to help her clients become more confident, healthy, and happy individuals. Brit’ney’s areas of specialty are strength training, weight loss, aqua fitness and interval training. When not training, Brit’ney is pursing her degree in Kinesiology and spending with her family.
Kari finds true enjoyment from seeing people reach their goals and feel great about themselves. That’s why she is an ISSA certified personal trainer and has a passion for teaching group fitness. She believes every client is unique and can help them achieve their goals and push past any barrier. She specializes in weight loss, group training and corrective exercise. When she’s not in the gym, you can find Kari outdoors, traveling and spending time with her husband and son.
Vanessa is a graduate of Texas State University, she holds a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Friends of the New Braunfels Public Library 35th Annual Book Sale
The Friends of the Library’s annual book sale raises funds each year to support free-to-the-public programs offered at the library. In 2019 the Friends of the New Braunfels Public Library, Inc. gave over $100,000 in donated items and money raised through fundraising in the bookstore, through online sales, at the Children’s Book Sale, and the annual book sale. Standard book sale prices range from $.25 to $2, while collectibles will vary in price. A preview night will be held Thursday, Oct. 7. Those interested in attending the preview night (which includes the privilege of first pick on the sale items!) should join Friends of the Library by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6.

The full-service Westside Branch of the New Braunfels Public Library is under construction on the grounds of the Westside Community Center. This project, approved under the 2019 Bond, will take library services provided at this location from a 600-square-foot room inside the community center to an 8,000-square-foot standalone facility with a 25,000-item collection, a teaching garden,computer workspaces, and more. The Westside Branch is currently under construction with an anticipated completion date of June 2022. Until then, we are not anticipating any major changes to the hours or services at Westside Community Center, but please understand that construction may come with unanticipated surprises.
