In-person registrations are available at the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office, Landa Recreation Center, Das Rec and Fischer Park NEC. Checks should be made payable to "City of New Braunfels." A charge will be assessed on returned checks.

PROGRAM & EVENT POLICIES CANCELLATIONS

Help us have successful programs by registering early! All programs must have a minimum number of participants in order to be conducted. If a programs does not meet this minimum, the class may be cancelled. Cancellations by customers made 5 business days prior to the start of a program will receive a refund. No cancellation refunds will be given after the start of a program or event. Registration fees will not be prorated for partial attendance.

WAIT LISTS

If registering for a class that is full, your name can be placed on a waiting list. This does not guarantee a spot, but individuals will be contacted if an opening becomes available.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEE

NB PARD continually strives to provide quality programs and offers a Satisfaction Guarantee. If the participant is not satisfied with a class or program, the participant may either repeat the program at no cost, or receive a 100% refund or account credit, at the discretion of the participant.

PHOTO RELEASE

The New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department routinely takes photos and videos of participants in recreation activities, programs and special events and/or at recreation facilities. These photos and/ or videos may be used for promotional purposes. Be aware that by participating, you are granting the City of New Braunfels the right to use and publish your image or your minor child’s image. Das Rec classes and programs listed as free are free for members. Non-members must purchase a day pass to participate in a free class.

FLASHLIGHT EGG HUNT

An illuminating challenge, hunt eggs by flashlight! Each hunter should bring their own flashlight and basket. There will be prize eggs and lots of treats. Children will be divided into age groups. DOGGIE DIP DAY

One of the few times a year the pool belongs to the pups! Bring your water-loving pooch to play and cool off in the Springfed pool. This is a pre-purchased ticket event with two, 2-hour time block options available: 12pm – 2pm or 2pm-4pm. Each human guest must have a ticket, max of 2 doggos admitted per ticket. Don’t forget your pooches proof of current rabies vaccine for the day of the event! Owners are required to clean up after their pets. FATHER/SON NERF GUN WAR

Bring your favorite Nerf gun, and we will supply elite-style ammo for this great competition. Power snacks provided. Each participant must be registered; all children must be accompanied by an adult. LANDA LAKE DATE NIGHT

Couples can spend the evening cruising throughout Landa Lake on a paddleboat for a special evening. Couples will be given a Bluetooth speaker to play the music of their choice and a boxed dinner will be provided to form the perfect social distancing night out. Pre-registration is required. HISTORIC CEMETERY TOUR

Join Spass Walking Tours for a guided, interactive walking tour through two historic New Braunfels’ cemeteries that includes an exercise in using and dowsing rods to find unmarked graves from 1846! Hear the stories of our founders along with their struggles and triumphs in building a new life for themselves and their descendants. LANDA PARK TOUR & HIKE

Join Spass Walking Tours of New Braunfels to explore the history and beauty of Landa Park and experience a two mile walk during this interpretative tour. Discover man-made and natural treasures and hear stories about the people that made Landa Park a significant part of our community. This tour meets in the parking lot of the Rec Center at 164 Landa Park Drive. Most of the tour will be on the sidewalk and is stroller friendly. SIN CITY SLAYER- INTERACTIVE MURDER MYSTERY

The most highly anticipated VIP party in Las Vegas is almost here! The Cosmo Casino & Resort is set to host a world class soiree for celebrities, news media, and a few Vegas locals that were lucky enough to score tickets. Some of the most prominent figures of our time will be in attendance and this will certainly be a night to remember. However, there is a situation. The city of Las Vegas has been terrorized by a serial killer with an MO of attending VIP events held on the strip. The killer, known as the Sin City Slayer, chooses victims from unsuspecting party guests. The Las Vegas police are currently working with federal agencies to catch this deranged predator. Hopefully, the killer doesn’t have a ticket to this event. This is where your story begins. Join us for an interactive evening of mystery. Dinner will be provided. Guests will be assigned characters one week before the event so that you may dress the part. Please be sure to provide an accurate e-mail when you sign up. SATURDAY SLIME SCHOOL

Do you love slime? Have you wanted to experiment with a variety of materials to make your own gooey creation? If so, come get messy and experiment with us rather than in your own kitchen. Butter slime, chalkboard slime, fluffy slime and more! Slime can get messy, so wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Spend the day at Landa Recreation Center with fun-filled activities such as games, crafts, movies and more. Campers will delight in a variety of activities and adventures. Please be sure to pack a lunch.

SPRING VENTURES DAY CAMP

Join us over Spring Break for an engaging, fun-filled, allday camp. Kids will enjoy games, crafts, sports, movies and adventures to Landa Park. EARTH DAY WORKSHOP

Explore the waters of the Fischer Park ponds in a siton-top kayak. Watercraft may be rented at the Nature Education Center Gift Shop. Additional dates available by arrangement.

Our staff will lead your private group tour with hands-on activities that encourage nature discovery and learning. BABYSITTING CERTIFICATION CLASS

Start your own babysitting service the right way with a certification from our trained American Red Cross Instructor. This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to safely give care for children and infants. Participants will develop leadership skills, and learn basic child care, first aid, and CPR. AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD TRAINING WITH WATERFRONT

Do you want to make an impact in your community? Become a Lifeguard to gain the knowledge and skills needed to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies! This course is offered in a blended-learning style, meaning part of the course is completed at your own pace, on-line before attending an in-person session to put those skills into practice. The dates and times listed below are for the in-person sessions. This course is provided to first time or expired Lifeguards and includes training in waterfront Lifeguard skills, First Aid/CPR/AED, Emergency Oxygen and Bloodborne Pathogens. Entry-level Lifeguard participants will gain knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. AMERICAN RED CROSS RECERTIFICATION LIFEGUARD TRAINING WITH WATERFRONT

Current American Red Cross Lifeguards will review skills from the Lifeguarding training course with Waterfront. Completion of the course will certify participants for an additional 2. If your certification is already expired, you are required to take a new Lifeguard course. This course is offered in a blended-learning style, meaning part of the course is completed at your own pace, on-line before attending an in-person session to put those skills into practice. CAMP MINNEHAHA

Camp Minnehaha is a general summer camp program with a wide variety of daily activities. Campers will participate in arts and crafts, sports and games, nature and science, performing arts, cooking projects, special events and so much more! Campers need to bring a sack lunch, water bottle, swimsuit, sunscreen and a towel to camp. To ensure a great experience for all of the campers, each session has limited, registered campers. Register your child online at nbtexas.org/signup. Registration for Camp Minnehaha opens on April 1 at 8am online.

Deposit Policy for Camp: A deposit may be made at the time of enrollment, instead of full payment, to secure a spot in individual weeks of Camp Minnehaha or Fischer Park Nature Camp by paying $25 per child, per week of camp that they would like to register for. This deposit payment will reserve a camper’s spot in the program until full payment is due. The remaining balance for camp tuition is due 14 days before the campers first day of camp for each registered week. Failure to submit the remaining payment, 14 days before registered start date, may result in the forfeiture of that week’s deposit and the loss of the reserved spot at camp.

MEET OUR TRAINERS ANA OGDEN, ACTION-CPT

Ana practiced Taekwondo for 18 years and earned her 3rd-degree black belt. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where she received a degree in Health and Kinesiology. She holds her personal training certificate from ACTION and is a licensed physical therapist assistant with experience in outpatient physical therapy. During her time at the outpatient physical therapy clinic, she treated ailments such as total knee replacements, total hip replacements, rotator cuff repairs, total shoulder replacements, meniscus repairs, and ACL/PCL/MCL tears.

ANGELINE FLETCHER, AFAA-CPT

Angie holds a degree in dance education and is certified as a Texas Dance Educator. She also holds her personal training certification from AFAA. Angie specializes in flexibility and endurance, cardio and group conditioning, senior and children’s fitness and injury prevention. When Angie isn’t training or dancing she enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, reading, and traveling.

ANNA SWEET M.ED., NASM-CPT

Anna believes that mindset and motivation are key to maintain our health goals. Anna holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master’s Degree in Education. She is certified as a personal trainer through NASM. As someone who was once very overweight, she can relate to the struggles of lifestyle change, she wants to help others find their fitness love and see the changes that result. When she isn’t teaching classes or training, Anna works fulltime as a teacher and has two teens that keep her busy.

BRIT'NEY SMITH, ACE-CPT

Brit’ney has had her own journey with health and fitness, losing 40 pounds and learning how to do it in a healthy way. She is ACE certified and continues to learn more about health and fitness and how to integrate it daily into her client’s lives. Her goal is to help her clients become more confident, healthy, and happy individuals. Brit’ney’s areas of specialty are strength training, weight loss, aqua fitness and interval training. When not training, Brit’ney is pursing her degree in Kinesiology and spending with her family.

GABRIEL GROVE, ACE-CPT

Gabriel genuinely loves to help others achieve the best version of themselves. Gabriel holds his personal training certification through ACE, he also holds certifications in Russian Kettlebell and TRX training. Gabriel specializes in youth training, core strength, mobility and body building. Gabe has earned his 3rd-degree black belt in Texas Soryu in 2005, a 2nd- degree in Tae Kwon Do in 2009, and an additional 3rd degree in Japanese Soryu Karate in 2015. Kari finds true enjoyment from seeing people reach their goals and feel great about themselves. That’s why she is an ISSA certified personal trainer and has a passion for teaching group fitness. When she’s not in the gym, you can find Kari outdoors, traveling and spending time with her husband and son.

Vanessa is a graduate of Texas State University, she holds a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. If you are unable to come to the New Braunfels Public Library, our RIOrover will bring the library to you. The library’s Homebound Service is free library materials delivery service to New Braunfels residents who are unable to easily leave their homes either temporarily or permanently. To qualify for homebound service an individual must live in the library’s service area and have — or be eligible for — a New Braunfels Public Library card in good standing. Those who are interested in receiving homebound services can fill out the online application or call the library. Once registered for homebound service patrons may call or email the library to request specific titles, or they can request that a librarian select materials based on the patron’s reading preferences.
