VIRTUAL STORYTIME

Have more fun during the holidays this year by personalizing your gifts! Gather the family or enlist your friends and put together a selection of attractive food gifts from your kitchen. A gift from the kitchen is twice blessed; it gives pleasure to the giver as well as to the receiver. This class will give you ideas, tips, and techniques on making your own gifts from the kitchen. Presented by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service - Comal County. Age: Adults | Cost: Free | 11 am Wednesday, November 18

Storytimes are posted to the library’s Facebook page at 10 a.m. MondayFriday. After the videos premiere, they are also available on the library’s YouTube channel. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nblibrary YouTube: New Braunfels Public Library

During the holidays, we often have certain things we always do—traditions. Most families probably have traditions that take place throughout the year, but our holiday traditions seem to be the ones we hold most dear. Research shows that these traditions are important in building strong family relationships between generations. Sometimes, as our families change, our traditions change with us, and that is perfectly fine. In this class you will learn how to blend traditions and keep your family traditions a part of this special season. Presented by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service - Comal County. HOMEBOUND SERVICES

If you are unable to come to the New Braunfels Public Library, our RIOrover will bring the library to you. The library’s Homebound Service is free library materials delivery service to New Braunfels residents who are unable to easily leave their homes either temporarily or permanently. To qualify for homebound service an individual must live in the library’s service area and have — or be eligible for — a New Braunfels Public Library card in good standing. Those who are interested in receiving homebound services can fill out the online application or call the library. Once registered for homebound service patrons may call or email the library to request specific titles, or they can request that a librarian select materials based on the patron’s reading preferences. When delivering materials, library staff will arrive at residence and call the patron from the RIOrover to let them know the items are ready to be delivered and the patron is to stay inside until the staff member has returned to the RIOrover for social distancing. Library materials will be placed in a paper bag and placed at the patron’s front door (alternative arrangements can be made on an asneeded basis). Library staff will ring the doorbell or knocked on the door so that the patron knows the bag has been delivered. Staff will return to the RIOrover and watch the patron retrieve their bag. If you or someone you know can benefit from Homebound Services, call the New Braunfels Public Library at 830-221-4300 or send an email to riomobile@nbtexas.org.

CURBSIDE DELIVERY

As your needs change, your library changes. Whether you’re social distancing or on the go, you can place your library materials on hold from home and pick them up curbside. It’s easy — place your items on hold online at newbraunfels.biblionix.com/catalog, by calling 830-221-4300, or by texting 830-253-4804. Once you’ve received your notification that your hold is ready: 1. Park in one of the four curbside parking spots across from the book drop 2. Call 830-221-4300 or text 830-253-4804 to let library staff know your parking spot number 3. Library staff will check out your materials and bring them to your car The New Braunfels Public Library Foundation raised $50,000 to purchase the RIOrover—NBPL’s transit van—which enables the delivery of library materials to homebound patrons.
