Volleyball Facilities The Navy volleyball team will once again enjoy the luxury of having a pair of venues at its disposal this season. The Mids will continue to practice in their longtime home of Macdonough Hall, while playing all of their matches this season a few steps away in the Wesley A. Brown Field House. Named after Lt. Cmdr. Wesley A. Brown, USN (ret.), the first African American midshipman to graduate from the USNA (in 1949), the 140,000 square foot facility that cost $52 miliion to build includes three regulation sized basketball courts, a 200-meter indoor track with banked curves and a retractable synthetic surface that allows field teams to practice indoors. Additionally, the facility that opened in the spring of 2008 boasts a state-of-the art video board that spans nearly 16x21 feet. Macdonough Hall also has seen vast improvements over the last few years, specifically by the addition of a new scoreboard with scrolling message capabilities and the forgiving Ger Floor by Teraflex. The program’s main locker room area in the venerable Macdonough Hall consists of a 360-square foot locker room with large hardwood lockers for each player, with a 375-square foot team area and a 150-square foot equipment and athletic training room located on either end of the main locker room.
